Thanks for doing this ranking. I love Star Trek, so it was really interesting to hear your thoughts, especially since I knew that you were a Star Trek fan too
From my top 800 list: 598. Nemesis 597. FF 596. Insurrection These three are interchangeable down here; equally and differently flawed. 395. ST2009 394. Gen.s 393. BYD Let’s face it, 2009’s plot has some super wonky elements. And despite the philosophical depth, Generations’ plot needed work, too. Despite the gimmicky bits of the plot and disgruntled villain #3bln, BYD had fun callbacks and crew combinations- a follow up to this would only have been better. 180. TMP The most underrated Trek ever. Yes, there are pacing problems, but that’s really it. Kirk has a character growth arc. Spock has a character growth arc. Even Decker and Ilia. McCoy is his usual fun self, constantly quotable. True, hard science fiction in this most Trekkian of movies. Best warp effect ever. Glossy visual fx ahead of their time. One of the best movie scores ever. Introduction of the best version of the Enterprise ever. No standard angry villains, no killing, just a mysterious entity with a personal problem, leading up to a uniquely transcendent solution, all while gradually bringing the band/crew back together after a long separation and Kirk finds his groove again. 160. Und. Country Generally good Trek, it just suffers from a dab of mystery-itis. (Once it’s solved, everything is painfully obvious on subsequent viewings.) 66. First Contact 44. Voyage Home 33. In Search of 9. Khan’s Lettuce Wrap Wrath
13: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 12: Star Trek: Insurrection 11: Star Trek: Nemesis 10: Star Trek: The Motion Picture 9: Star Trek III: The Search For Spock 8: Star Trek: Generations 7: Star Trek Beyond 6: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 5: Star Trek Into Darkness 4: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 3: Star Trek: First Contact 2: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 1: Star Trek (2009)
My main problem with into darkness is the magic blood: First of all, if you can use the magic blood to resurrect Kirk, Star fleet is useless because it’s primary purpose is to explore new words and help them, but if nobody can die and no one needs help, Star fleet no longer needs to exist.
I stumbled upon this because I was curious if someone has done this ranking before, so I looked it up. I’m currently on Star Trek nemesis and I’m going to continue it but I think your ranking is pretty spot on. I don’t know how I’ve never found your channel before but I’m glad I did and I subscribed.
Star trek VI is a fantastic movie. It has everything that's great about trek, and also has really stat of the art effects (for the time). I love II, but VI is up there.
Agree so much the top 6 are the stand out films in the series, we have the same but ranked a bit different. Love the score from James Horner! 13 - Star Trek 5 The Final Frontier 12 - Star Trek TNG Nemisis 11 - Star Trek Generations 10 - Star Trek Beyond 9 - Star Trek TNG Insurection 8 - Star Trek The Motion Picture 7 - Star Trek Into The Darkness 6 - Star Trek The Search For Spock 5 - Star Trek 2009 4 - Star Trek The Undiscovered Country 3 - Star Trek First Contact 2 - Star Trek The Voyage Home 1 - Star Trek The Wrath of Khhhaaannnnn!!!
Nailed it. I agree with your rankings and reviews of the movies. My rankings: 1. Wrath of Kahn 2. Undiscovered Country 3. The Voyage Home 4. First Contact 5. The Search for Spock 6. Star Trek 2009 7. Generations 8. Into the Darkness 9. Star Trek Beyond 10. Insurgency 11. Nemesis 12. Star Trek - The Motion Picture 13. Final Frontier. 10 thru 13 are about equal.
Totally off about Into Darkness. The "magic blood" was introduced in the original series. SPACE SEED. I cry everytime I watch the end of WRATH.. and I love that Abrams paid homage to the Spock death scene by juxtaposing Kirk in the sacrifice roll. Oh, I cry everytime in that scene also! Spock learns about his love emotion! Great transformation. My top two of the franchise for sure!
This is kind of strange-I just bought Star Trek (2009) on Blu-Ray, and then you post a ranking...I really hope it’s good though! I’m interested in the Original Star Trek films but I don’t have time to watch all 10 unfortunately so thanks for this lol!
Also, if you want to see a few of the good older movies watch 2-4 for a nice Star Trek trilogy. If you still want more watch 6. Want some TNG trek? Watch First Contact.
Here is my ranking of the Star Trek films: 1. Star Trek: First Contact 2. Star Trek: Beyond 3. Star Trek (2009) 4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 5. Star Trek: Into Darkness 6. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 7. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 8. Star Trek: Generations 9. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock 10. Star Trek: Nemesis 11. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 12. Star Trek: Insurrection 13. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
I think you can make that argument with 2009 (hence why that one is high on my list). But when you give him a purpose, a crew and a ship....he should have already grown up. At some point he needs to resemble the classic character.
I like your comments on Star Trek V. Although many don’t like it, I rather do! Yeah the special effects are bad among other things but it’s the character moments and interactions that had me rewatching every once in a while.
Really? I would have put it at 13 in my ranking. Just so slow and the conclusion felt weak and unfulfilled. As bad as Nemesis is I could still rewatch it before The Motion Picture.
I have always wanted to watch the Star Trek movies, but someone told me that I have to watch all the episodes of every TV show. But I don't really have time to watch the shows.
You don’t need to watch every episode. That’s not true at all. You’ll want to watch a FEW episodes of the original series (especially space seed) to appreciate the original films. and watch a few next gen episodes (especially best of both worlds) before the next gen films. The new movies with Chris pine stand on their own but they’re very different from the other stuff
Can u rank ur hype for every confirmed and reliably rumored SW show Obiwan Cassian Bad Batch Rebels sequel Solo Lando Crimson Dawn Ahsoka Bo-Katan/Cara Dune Boba fett Untitled Leslie Headland show
13. The Motion Picture- never liked slow-pace films. Instead of the very beginning, I lose interest real fast. 12. Insurrection- What was the deal with Picard's romantic interest in a lady that was married with a son? Weird. This film use to be higher for me. 11. 2009- Kirk becomes Pike's protege. I liked that part of the storyline. 10. Beyond- it reminded me a little bit like Insurrection but I did enjoy the banter between Bones and Spock. 9. Final Frontier- I enjoy watching the crew going camping. 8. The Search for Spock- the space dock escape is definately a rewatch 7. Wrath of Khan- When I first saw this film, I loved it. The spoof though tops it for me. 6. The Undiscovered Country- the finale where the Enterprise is trying to find a Klingon Bird of Prey under cloak and having the General taunting Kirk at the same time makes it a re-watch for me. 5. Nemesis- why kill Data? Why? Was it really necessary? 4. Generations- Soran is an underrated villian in the Trek universe and might be the best one-off villian in all of television. 3. The Voyage Home- Double dumb-ass on you if this isn't in your top 3. 2. First Contact- Starring the scourge of Trek universe and my childhood hero. No way it's not up there for me. 1. Into Darkness- non-stop action and Kirk really matures as a Captain.
Personally Into Darkness is my favorite Star Trek film. But I only saw the new trilogy and none of the older ones so I’d probably like it less if I saw the earlier films first. I still have a blast when I watch Into Darkness and it’s the most emotional I felt in any of the films because of when (spoiler alert) Kirk “died”. I know he came back but when I watched it I didn’t know that. Also Khan is the best villain in the trilogy if u ask me, partially because I love Cumberbatch but I still think he’s great.
My favorite is Star Trek 4- it feels like a Romcom and it is so refreshing after watching Wrath of Khan and the search for Spock which both had darker tones. I also really like, Star Trek Beyond, but maybe that’s because I don’t consider Shatner’s Kirk to be the same character as the Kelvin Timeline Kirk. But the tv shows are always better, TOS!
When I first followed you on Instagram, I didn't get the whole kirk never died thing because I hadn't seen Generations yet but I had seen Wrath of Khan and 2009 so I made my own version, kirk.cheated. 😊
Cole REVIEWS my plan was to watch Star Trek the motion picture first, then wrath of khan, and see where it takes me. I just like watching stuff in order imo
Mine is gonna be very unpopular but : 1. Wrath of Khan 2. Undiscovered Country 3. Into Darkness 4. Star Trek 2009 5. Search for Spock 6. Insurrection 7. Generations 8. Beyond 9. Nemesis 10. Motion Picture 11. Final Frontier 12. Voyage Home 13. First Contact
1: Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (for all the reasons Sean states here, lol) 2: Star Trek: First Contact (an absolutely incredible movie which showcases just why TNG cast were so damn good together) 3: Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (Nick Meyer is back behind the camera after giving us Wrath of Khan and he shows just why he is the best director out there for ST) 4: Star Trek: The Voyage Home (Its a little zany, some of the comic relief is a little campy, Scotty talking to the mouse for example, but it just reminds you why you fell in love with these characters) 5: Star Trek: The Search for Spock (the perfect example of just exactly what Kirk is all about and how they have so screwed him up in the JJ'verse Trek) 6: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (yes it's slow, but it hits you in the feels really hard at times. Seeing Kirk again, seeing the Enterprise in dry dock and that swelling score. I can forgive the boredom) 7: Star Trek: Insurrection (It's not great, but it's not as bad as some people think. And Starfleet needing to make such deals with aliens due to the losses in the Dominion War makes sense to me) 8: Star Trek: Generations (Kirk should of had a better send off I feel and the plot is a little all over the place at times) 9: Star Trek: Nemesis (TNG movies go out with a whimper rather than a bang, but they are still better than the crap from the JJ'verse) 10: Star Trek: Beyond (With Simon Pegg on script duties the plot tries to come back to what makes Trek great, but with the Fast&Furious director behind the camera it doesn't stand a chance) 11: Star Trek 2009 (I'm sorry, I just can't really get behind any of the new Trek movies, they just don't have the heart of the originals and screw up Kirk and Spock so badly. Thank God for Karl Urban) 12: Star Trek: Into Darkness (there's so much wrong with this movie I don't know where to start, lol) 13: Star Trek: The Final Frontier (it pains me to put an original cast movie last ... but God is this bad, lol)
My List: 13. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) 12. Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) 11. Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) 10. Star Trek lll: The Search For Spook (1984) 09. Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (1991) 03. Star Trek (2009) 02. Star Trek ll: The Wrath Of Khan (1982) 01. Star Trek: First Contact (1996) I am not sure if I should switch my eight place and seventh place, and I am still not sure if I should switch my 6th and 5th place.
Yes. It makes more sense to watch them in release order, because Star Treks 1-10 take place after one another, while 2009, Into Darkness, and Beyond are set in an alternate timeline...
1. Star Trek 2009 2. Beyond 3. Wrath of Khan 4. Into Darkness I'm planning on watching search for spock, voyage home, undiscovered country, first contact and maybe generations soon.
9:37 I disagree with this one. The risk was high and the consequences of a battle finally happened. Certain things annoyed me to no end, but I liked that battle a lot.
Hey Sean I just watched Hostiles not sure if you’ve seen it but if you could do a review on it I’d love to hear your thoughts. Really great film with Christian Bale as the lead.
Star Trek Generations is so underrated. It's a great movie. The opening scene when they save the enterprise B is very good. I thought the idea of the Nexus was very interesting. The Final battle on the bridge was awesome. And it was cool to see Kirk and Picard working together. Star Trek Nemesis is underrated too. Star Trek 5 The Final Frontier is an amazing movie. I really like the whole plot with Spock's brother. It's a fantastic movie. Don't understand why people dislike it so much. As for the three reboot movies they are the worst by far.
poeple hated the final frontier because of the whole search for god thing and some of the odd humour and pacing as for generations and nemesis i agree with you those films are great but i do enjoy the tos reboots especially into darkness

Oooh My favorite franchise of all time. With everything going on in the world and all the nastiness it's nice to have a franchise where all these people who have WILDLY different perspectives about what's going on in these stories being able to actually have a decent conversation about how to solve the problems at hand without going after each other. At least they try to do that. That's what's great about the various series, they've all got varied tones and their own particular perspectives
1. The Voyage Home 2. The Wrath of Khan 3. Star Trek 4. The Undiscovered country 5. First Contact 6. The Search For Spock 7. Beyond 8. Into Darkness 9. Insurrection 10. generations 11. The Final Frontier 12. Nemesis 13. The Motion Picture My ranking
I have never found the need to re-watch any of the ST flicks. The TV series on the other hand is totally different, expect for the Picard series (yikes).
So great to finally get an updated version of this list gonna be curious to see how everything is ranked by a Trekkie! ( and of course Kirk never died;)

Star Trek 2009 was fun and I really enjoyed Karl Urban's McCoy (DeForest Kelley was my favorite Trek actor) but the manner by which Kirk takes command is ridiculous.

From my top 800 list:
598. Nemesis
597. FF
596. Insurrection
These three are interchangeable down here; equally and differently flawed.
395. ST2009
394. Gen.s
393. BYD
Let’s face it, 2009’s plot has some super wonky elements. And despite the philosophical depth, Generations’ plot needed work, too. Despite the gimmicky bits of the plot and disgruntled villain #3bln, BYD had fun callbacks and crew combinations- a follow up to this would only have been better.
180. TMP
The most underrated Trek ever.
160. Und. Country
Generally good Trek, it just suffers from a dab of mystery-itis. (Once it’s solved, everything is painfully obvious on subsequent viewings.)
66. First Contact
44. Voyage Home
33. In Search of
9. Khan’s Lettuce Wrap Wrath
Wow dude. Just... wow lol
13: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
12: Star Trek: Insurrection
11: Star Trek: Nemesis
10: Star Trek: The Motion Picture
9: Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
8: Star Trek: Generations
7: Star Trek Beyond
6: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
5: Star Trek Into Darkness
4: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
3: Star Trek: First Contact
2: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
1: Star Trek (2009)
I’ve got your gun.
13 - Star Trek 5 The Final Frontier
12 - Star Trek TNG Nemisis
11 - Star Trek Generations
10 - Star Trek Beyond
9 - Star Trek TNG Insurection
8 - Star Trek The Motion Picture
7 - Star Trek Into The Darkness
6 - Star Trek The Search For Spock
5 - Star Trek 2009
4 - Star Trek The Undiscovered Country
3 - Star Trek First Contact
2 - Star Trek The Voyage Home
1 - Star Trek The Wrath of Khhhaaannnnn!!!
Pretty much all the Star Trek movies have fantastic scores, but Horner's work is probably my favorite.
What are those yellow lamps in the bakground? the look really nice
Great ranking Sean love the star trek movies some are great and some are ok but I'm a big fan of star trek awesome ranking man👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The search for Spock is my favorite Star Trek movie
2:51 Into the Darkness was the first time in my life I walked out of a movie room. I felt extremely sad and offended in so many levels...
This is kind of strange-I just bought Star Trek (2009) on Blu-Ray, and then you post a ranking...I really hope it’s good though!
I’m interested in the Original Star Trek films but I don’t have time to watch all 10 unfortunately so thanks for this lol!
Star Trek 2009 is one of my favorite films!!
Also, if you want to see a few of the good older movies watch 2-4 for a nice Star Trek trilogy. If you still want more watch 6. Want some TNG trek? Watch First Contact.
@@codym6376 Thank you so much! 😆
Here is my ranking of the Star Trek films:
1. Star Trek: First Contact
2. Star Trek: Beyond
3. Star Trek (2009)
4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
5. Star Trek: Into Darkness
6. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
7. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
8. Star Trek: Generations
9. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
10. Star Trek: Nemesis
11. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
12. Star Trek: Insurrection
13. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Interesting
Hey Sean I think u must see Star Trek TMP Director's Edition. It might change your mind regarding TMP.
Interesting thought. Do you think that the changes to Kirks character in the new ones comes from the death of his father?
I think you can make that argument with 2009 (hence why that one is high on my list). But when you give him a purpose, a crew and a ship....he should have already grown up. At some point he needs to resemble the classic character.
I like your comments on Star Trek V. Although many don’t like it, I rather do! Yeah the special effects are bad among other things but it’s the character moments and interactions that had me rewatching every once in a while.
Star Trek the motion picture is so underrated. I think it’s one of the best.
Absolutely!
Really? I would have put it at 13 in my ranking. Just so slow and the conclusion felt weak and unfulfilled. As bad as Nemesis is I could still rewatch it before The Motion Picture.
Very nice thumbnail Sean
Your hairstyles really improved from the last Star Trek ranking
I have always wanted to watch the Star Trek movies, but someone told me that I have to watch all the episodes of every TV show. But I don't really have time to watch the shows.
You don’t need to watch every episode. That’s not true at all. You’ll want to watch a FEW episodes of the original series (especially space seed) to appreciate the original films. and watch a few next gen episodes (especially best of both worlds) before the next gen films.
The new movies with Chris pine stand on their own but they’re very different from the other stuff
Can u rank ur hype for every confirmed and reliably rumored SW show
Obiwan
Cassian
Bad Batch
Rebels sequel
Solo
Lando
Crimson Dawn
Ahsoka
Bo-Katan/Cara Dune
Boba fett
Untitled Leslie Headland show
8. The Search for Spock- the space dock escape is definately a rewatch
Sean have you ever thought of doing a review on THE LAST DANCE? Btw nice video! Star Trek's awesome!
THANK YOU for what you said about StarTrek III ... that’s how I feel about that movie and the whole odd and even numbered movies.
I just watched my first Star Trek movie (Star Trek '09) and I thought it was great. I can't wait to watch the rest of the movies
I haven’t seen 12/13 of these movies, so is it possible for me to watch and understand the original ten films without watching the shows?
1. Wrath of Khan
2. Star Trek 2009
3. Into Darkness
4. Beyond
Dont care for everything else
Can you do some Halloween scary movie rankings?
I’ll have some horror rankings soon and a huge one on the 31st
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Awesome!
This is an interesting list!
I get what your saying about into darkness, but I mean, cmon man it's a pretty damn good flick
The image looks great
Thanks!
Your welcome
@@yodaiam6982 you're* there! I fixed it for ya!
When I first followed you on Instagram, I didn't get the whole kirk never died thing because I hadn't seen Generations yet but I had seen Wrath of Khan and 2009 so I made my own version, kirk.cheated. 😊
Sometimes people think it’s a nirvana reference. Not a bad guess but it’s a Star Trek reference
Really Nice Thumbnail for this video, its very pretty.
Dude... I’ve never seen one Star Trek movie in my life and I was looking to watch some of the 90s movies relatively soon! Perfect timing 👍
Dam why are both of us always early?
I’ve got time on my hands lol
Cole REVIEWS my plan was to watch Star Trek the motion picture first, then wrath of khan, and see where it takes me. I just like watching stuff in order imo
Just be prepared that you won’t enjoy the first one but 2-4 make a real nice trilogy
Ex Transporter yeah the first one was very low on his list so I don’t plan on liking it too much
Mine is gonna be very unpopular but :
1. Wrath of Khan
2. Undiscovered Country
3. Into Darkness
4. Star Trek 2009
5. Search for Spock
6. Insurrection
7. Generations
8. Beyond
9. Nemesis
10. Motion Picture
11. Final Frontier
12. Voyage Home
13. First Contact
I haven’t seen any of these movies do you recommend me to watch these??
1: Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (for all the reasons Sean states here, lol)
2: Star Trek: First Contact (an absolutely incredible movie which showcases just why TNG cast were so damn good together)
3: Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (Nick Meyer is back behind the camera after giving us Wrath of Khan and he shows just why he is the best director out there for ST)
4: Star Trek: The Voyage Home (Its a little zany, some of the comic relief is a little campy, Scotty talking to the mouse for example, but it just reminds you why you fell in love with these characters)
5: Star Trek: The Search for Spock (the perfect example of just exactly what Kirk is all about and how they have so screwed him up in the JJ'verse Trek)
6: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (yes it's slow, but it hits you in the feels really hard at times. Seeing Kirk again, seeing the Enterprise in dry dock and that swelling score. I can forgive the boredom)
7: Star Trek: Insurrection (It's not great, but it's not as bad as some people think. And Starfleet needing to make such deals with aliens due to the losses in the Dominion War makes sense to me)
8: Star Trek: Generations (Kirk should of had a better send off I feel and the plot is a little all over the place at times)
9: Star Trek: Nemesis (TNG movies go out with a whimper rather than a bang, but they are still better than the crap from the JJ'verse)
10: Star Trek: Beyond (With Simon Pegg on script duties the plot tries to come back to what makes Trek great, but with the Fast&Furious director behind the camera it doesn't stand a chance)
11: Star Trek 2009 (I'm sorry, I just can't really get behind any of the new Trek movies, they just don't have the heart of the originals and screw up Kirk and Spock so badly. Thank God for Karl Urban)
12: Star Trek: Into Darkness (there's so much wrong with this movie I don't know where to start, lol)
13: Star Trek: The Final Frontier (it pains me to put an original cast movie last ... but God is this bad, lol)
We have the same top five, just in a different order
@@JayL3wis Great minds think alike :)

I am not sure if I should switch my eight place and seventh place, and I am still not sure if I should switch my 6th and 5th place.
Omg best video ever!!! So I haven’t ever seen a Star Trek movie right
I’ve never seen a Star Trek movie, but I mean to I’ve just never gotten around to it. Do you just watch them in release order?
Yes. It makes more sense to watch them in release order, because Star Treks 1-10 take place after one another, while 2009, Into Darkness, and Beyond are set in an alternate timeline...
Where do you rank Galaxy Quest?
Awesome front cover!
Hey mate, I absolutely love the thumbnail today it looks rad
1. Star Trek 2009
2. Beyond
3. Wrath of Khan
4. Into Darkness
I'm planning on watching search for spock, voyage home, undiscovered country, first contact and maybe generations soon.

Planning to see 3, 4, 6, 8, Galaxy Quest and Into Darkness, not planning to see the ones not mentioned before.
Are you going to watch atypical? And rank the next season when it’s out?
Oooh
My favorite franchise of all time. With everything going on in the world and all the nastiness it's nice to have a franchise where all these people who have WILDLY different perspectives about what's going on in these stories being able to actually have a decent conversation about how to solve the problems at hand without going after each other. At least they try to do that. That's what's great about the various series, they've all got varied tones and their own particular perspectives

i just finished re-watching all the films myself, and this is pretty spot-on.
Star Trek 2009 was fun and I really enjoyed Karl Urban's McCoy (DeForest Kelley was my favorite Trek actor) but the manner by which Kirk takes command is ridiculous.
The enterprise had to be destroyed in Star trek generations, they wanted a more cinematic ship
