My favorite Superman - themed movies or TV shows are: Superman 1 (1978) - Christopher Reeves was , in one word ICONIC. Superman 2 - I love the fight scenes with the 3 rogue Kryptonians. Terence Stamp is perfection as Zod. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman - Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher got chemistry, plus I love Teri's feisty but funny interpretation of Lois Lane. Smallville - Tom Welling did a great portrayal of the young Clark Kent, very relatable and down to earth performance. Man Of Steel - Unpopular opinion: I think Henry Cavill is a good Superman and I am satisfied with the way he portrays the Man of Steel. ZSJL - in this movie, Superman is saved the best for last, a big cherry on top of an epic superhero saga.
My dad gave me all of the original Superman movies on vhs and I watched them all of the time. I was born in 2007, his legacy probably still lives on to this day. So in my mind, Superman II is the best Superman movie ever

Very good list. I have to agree with #1. It's influence can still be felt 43 years later as the template for comic book origin stories. There have been numerous important comic book movies over the year (1989's Batman, 2000's X-Men, 2002's Spider-Man, 2005's Batman Begins, 2008's Iron Man & The Dark Knight & 2012's The Avengers) but none more important to me than Superman The Movie. Love your list bro! Superman has always been one of my favorite superheroes. Time to do a Superman TV series ranking! Haha. I'm on a Daredevil kick myself... I slept on thus character too long. So many great comics I've discovered with this character.
1.Superman: The Movie-still the best. Epic and having tons of heart, this is the blueprint every potentially successful superhero film should look to for inspiration. 2.Superman Returns-the only Superman film that even comes close to the original. Criminally underrated. 3.Zack Snyder's Justice League-a real epic of a film. The four hours fly by, all the characters get a proper story arc, and the action is next level. 4.Man of Steel-a bold reinvention of Superman that just suffers from not having as much heart as it could 5.Superman 2(either version)-a very good sequel and more personal than the original, but lacks that film's epic scope. The Donner cut is good too, but I prefer Zod in the theatrical cut honestly. 6.Batman v Superman-uneven, but I have come around to it. The only thing I don't like now is Jesse Eisenberg. But I did like him in his small cameo in Zack Snyder's Justice League 7.Justice League-has its moments, but why bother when a much better version exists? 8.The Quest for Peace-not a good movie, as it never really builds any momentum, Nuclear Man is lame, and the effects are very poor. But it gets the edge over my bottom choice because of Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman back as Lex, and it's at least short, unlike..... 9.Superman 3-This is my Batman & Robin. This film is a joke. It destroys everything the first 2 films set up and all for lame slapstick jokes that wouldn't be funny in the 1930s, let alone 1983. Nothing is properly developed, it's boring as heck, the comedy is awful, Richard Pryor gets more screentime than Christopher Reeve, Superman fighting a supercomputer is lame after taking on a criminal genius and General Zod, and what kid wants to see one of their heroes turn evil for half the movie? I hate this movie so much. At least 4 felt like Superman. I haven't seen Supergirl or Superman and the Mole Men in years, but both are above 3. Honestly, the best Superman film is the direct to video animated film Superman vs the Elite.
My ranking: 1. Superman II 2. Superman 3. Justice League (Snyder Cut) 4. Man of Steel 5. Superman Returns 6. Superman III 7. Superman IV: Quest For Peace 8. Justice League (2017) 9. Supergirl 10. Superman and the Mole Men
It's interesting to see how far Superman has come in the movies. I've watched the majority of the movies on this list, and some I do like and will watch again while others (Josstice League) I won't watch again because of how bad the story and character development is. Though most people say that Cavill is the best Superman, I will always believe that Christopher Reeve is the best. I've watched Superman: The Movie so many times that for awhile, I believed Superman was real. Now don't get me wrong, all the other films are great, but I still reckon Christopher Reeve's Superman will forever be the best. Absolutely loved this video Sean and R.I.P Christopher Reeve: He made us believe a man could fly! 🙏🙏😢😢
Henry Cavil's superman to me has more of maturity, physical and relatability than Christopher's Superman. Man of Steel in my opinion is the greatest Superman ever made not to take away from the incredible depiction by Christopher and awesome script of original Superman, MoS to me is simply on another level in turns of different take on Superman in more of modern take, storytelling, emotional connections, Zack Snyder's amazing action sequences, original scores, visual and inspiration for hopes representing by Man of Steel. Man of steel magnified how selfless is like by some of the characters throughout its storytelling mark the purpose and belief come to made what Superman is becoming and about. Man of Steel had successfully transform the typical superman feel into more of contemporary and fill with more of meaning and purpose for the character! Oh, Michael Shannon's villain role in general Zod was fantastic as well and the final battle scene where Superman has to make the toughest choice of his life to kill the only other Kryptonian left in the universe in order to save vulnerable human family stamp his no kill mentality. Imagine a man with his super power but has no concern for killing...that is what make superman the greatest superhero, he realized that he can easily kill anyone in the universe, but he has the ultimate choice to NOT DO SO! That is what Man of Steel my greatest pick for all Superman movies, the true purpose of superman was beautifully shown throughout the movie.
My ranking of all solo Superman movies ranked worst to best 7.Super Girl 6.Superman 3 5.Superman 4 4.Superman 2 3.Superman the movie 2.Superman Returns 1.Man of steel
4. Man of Steel (B-) 3. Superman the Movie (B) 2. Superman II (theatrical) (B+) 1. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (B+) Planning to see Superman Returns, might watch the Donnet Cut, not planning to see the rest. I don't think the Justice League movies should be in consideration for this topic.
My ranking 1. Zack Snyder's Justice League 2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition) 3. Superman: The Movie 4. Man of Steel 5. Superman II (Theatrical) 6. Josstice League Haven't seen the others. Plan on watching Superman Returns soon though!

I didn't mind the "older version" of Lex Luthor in Superman Returns. I don't need Lex to "keep up with the times" in how he's interpreted now, that's still an interpretation of classic Lex Luthor. The modern touch to it definitely helped. I feel like maybe it worked better for me because Superman Returns WAS my first Superman movie, I never even seen the Donnor movies till after.
Something else I think that is pivotal to Superman 1 is that it really is the blueprint for DC on how to create a successful superhero film/franchise. Two standout films in DC that it is very evident that they were using Donner's film as their blueprint was Begins and Wonder Woman. Nolan was so opposite to Singers approach w Superman Returns, Singer basically went the homage route and recreated the first film but just updated it and made it his own. That's surface level. Nolan actually took Donner's film apart and studied WHY it was successful and WHAT made it successful and applied the philosophy that Donner had to Batman (he even had talks with Donner to pick inside the directors head). 89 clearly took some inspiration, too, but begins really feels like the Donner approach / or Superman 1 version of Batman. And I think Jenkins did the same with wonder woman, that too borrowed a lot of elements from Donner's approach. Snyder's JL worked I think because he had those 4 hours to work with and his ideas really seemed like they needed 4 hours to tell everything he was trying to set up. For the most part, I've noticed that if the DC film doesn't follow some of the blueprint from Superman 1, and lessons learned from that film, the movie has a good chance of not being successful.
My list would be 7. Superman 4 The Quest for Peace 6. Superman 3 5. Superman Returns 4. Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice 3. Superman 2. Superman 2 1. Man of Steel

I know he’s from a tv show but Tom Welling is definitely my favourite superman 💪 I love Smallville
From the films tho it has to be Christopher reeves may he forever rest in peace

Man of Steel is the greatest Superman movie ever and one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. Zack Snyder was just ahead of his time, sad that many modern audiences are too stupid to realise that. Great vid as always Sean!
Hmm, I know many love MoS but personally I hated it. When I watched it I just found it boring and uninteresting. Zach Snyder has huge fan base now I see him all over the place!
@@thecodyl164 that's like your opinion man
@@thecodyl164 I have to agree with u with the boring thing. The difference is I liked it. The dark tone works on BVS and ZSJL but not in MOS for me. Still a great movie if u look at the point of the movie. Maybe future movies will have darker tone like Zack's.

Chris Stuckmann's hilariocity of Superman 4 is one of my favorite videos on RUclips
I was 7 when I saw it in theaters and yes it did make this kid truly believe that a man could fly. R.I.P. Christopher Reeve.
I can not tell you how addicting this channel is

1.Zack Snyders Justice League (Reminded me why I love comic book movies)

4.Man of Steel-a bold reinvention of Superman that just suffers from not having as much heart as it could
5.Superman 2(either version)-a very good sequel and more personal than the original, but lacks that film's epic scope. The Donner cut is good too, but I prefer Zod in the theatrical cut honestly.
6.Batman v Superman-uneven, but I have come around to it. The only thing I don't like now is Jesse Eisenberg. But I did like him in his small cameo in Zack Snyder's Justice League
7.Justice League-has its moments, but why bother when a much better version exists?
I just watched Superman 1 and 2 today...both movies actually gave me goosebumps they were so perfect 👌.
My ranking:
1. Superman II
2. Superman
3. Justice League (Snyder Cut)
4. Man of Steel
5. Superman Returns
6. Superman III
7. Superman IV: Quest For Peace
8. Justice League (2017)
9. Supergirl
I'm not a huge superman fan but thought I'd check out your ranking, because your rankings are fun lol!

Respect
I know this video was a while ago but great list. Justice League (the first one) and Superman 4 switch places for me.
