These have to be the most endearing scenes of Walt. Away from (most of) his ego, charismatically dorky, interesting, and earnestly enjoying the science. Season One’s high school teacher dynamic was a great one
"It is growth and decay, then transformation" (0:36). That's Walter's life basically. From the growth of making Gray matter, to the absolute decay of being a public school teacher to the transformation of being Heisenberg.
I was a chess teacher for a while and it’s no different than this. @@rodrigopena449 well, one option for teaching chemistry, while still having a good job would be becoming a professor at the University of New Mexico. Due to his qualifications and insane knowledge of Chemistry couldn’t he have just became a professor instead? Because unlike high school the students at the university would actually be interested and paying attention to his class instead of being indifferent to it, also, he would get paid more and probably be in a far better financial situation due to his cancer and wouldn’t have to work that second job at the car wash

The plot of the entire show is actually portrayed in this scene. As Walter said: It's growth, then decay and transformation. It portraits the life of Walter up to this point, and his future. He was a creator of a business ( growth), a high school chemistry teacher( decay) and finnaly the monster he ends up becoming for his own good (transformation)
His rise to drug kingpin is the growth, the literal wasting away in New Hampshire is the decay, and transformation is when he is self-actualized at the very end, coming to terms with his own wrongdoings.
As an AP Chem student, the show has been one of the reasons I like chemistry. I understand Walt’s explanations and I wish they did add more scenes of him teaching Chem.
I have a very small list of shows that I can randomly watch episodes and never ever get sick of them. Breaking Bad is on that list. Specially the last two seasons. Breaking Bad was and is brilliant. You can breakdown and analyze so much of it and get something new each time. And if nobody has yet.. now that Saul is over it's beyond awesome to watch Saul, Breaking Bad, and El'Camino... It's like a very long movie.
I get the feeling the Chad character was meant to have a bigger role that never materialised since since they bothered to name him and give him two scenes here and in the car wash. Maybe he was meant to be one of Jesse’s replacements since there was supposed to be a new assistant to Walt every season - thank Christ they changed that - but it seems odd that they’d bother to establish him and then do nothing with him.

This scene is one of the most important scenes in the show. The way he explains how life is a transformation is amazing and, of course, it aplies to his story until the end of the show. But also it shows how he was not respected by his students just like he was not respected for all his life and this is so revealing.
His lesson was actually really interesting 😭😭😭 Also, I hate to be the person who looks too much into things but I like how the entire time Walt was talking that flame was blasting high, but when he gets pulled back down to reality by his crappy students, it just shuts off like its extinguished.
