It breaks my heart how young girls and women in their teens and 20's have been conditioned to be so preoccupied with and worried about their looks. It's such a small part of human experience yet so emphasised. Thank you for talking about this.

It's only recently that I've started to MILDLY CONSIDER how much of life I've chosen to miss out on simply because I'm not Beyonce...but who am I really hurting, ya know? *sigh* Your perspective/wisdom is absolutely appreciate...thank you for sharing

I agree. I hate young people being so consumed. I have two daughters who love what they look like , have great careers and really aren’t into social media at all or all this stuff. They are 24. My one daughter feels when women do work , it’s sexist as men don’t usually. Truth. People are obsessed with looks and I know people who use Botox and filler routinely and they look weird. Like a basketball head. Odd. Lines are far prettier and kids don’t have lines. The whole thing is odd with these young people.

Beauty is really momentary to have that much focus on it. We’ll all get old whether we like it or not, so you’d better focus on something else besides your appearance or you’ll be really unhappy.

  • @Jessica-wt2sm
    @Jessica-wt2sm 3 года назад +135

Agreed, Susan! It's better to be honest with what procedures you're getting, especially for young girls who wonder why they don't look like their favorite celebrity or influencer. That's why I really appreciate how you've been honest about things you've gotten done even though I know you get a lot of hate for it. Sometimes, we can't win either way!
There's nothing wrong with getting a beauty treatment. At the end of the day, it's your body and your money. I feel like it only becomes a problem when people have procedures done and then deny it. It just creates a false understanding of what "natural" means and fuels people's insecurities.

Fillers are not a problem. These influences go WAY ABOVE what fits THEIR face shape. That’s why you always have people say “fillers don’t look natural” cause you have a bunch of 23 years olds running around botched. Get to know your face and let fillers ENHANCE your face, not change.

The one to look at is Kendall. According to a ton of people in the industry she’s had more work done than all the other sisters. But she has been smart (so far. Lord knows she is starting to go above) and went for “natural”. Bella Hadid too.

Really liked this topic Susan, considering how much filler/injections people get these days I do not hear/see enough of the other side if you change your mind or don't like it after time. I have seen enough 'horror stories' type content but I think that is way on the other side of the spectrum. Seeing people who liked their filler initially or for years even but just changed their mind seems like it must happen more than we think. Really helps inform the decision of getting it done in the first place.

I’m older and have hated my thin lips ( I mean I have no lips ) my whole life. It almost gave me a sunken look, but in the 80’s , we weren’t doing this. I was growing up then. So, I focused on my family , work and tried not to fret too much. Then I hit a point where i had to do it. I freaking loved it and unless something goes weird , I won’t go back. It’s all I do other than taking care of my body and skin. I adore having some lips. I also have a slight Italian nose lol. I don’t hate it. I’m ok with these things not being perfect,, but I couldn’t take no lips. I am kind of a natural type , so I do use
High end products that are almost all natural. I’ve had lumps and I’ve had dissolver and I didn’t like that at all , but when your face no longer looks sunken in, I find it worth it. I am happy you are happy with your nose now.

1.) fillers don’t dissolve. They migrate. So when she says she hasn’t gotten her lips filled in over a year but they still have filler in them is a testament to that. Facial MRI’s will show filler from pt’s who stopped getting it over 7 years ago.
2.) fillers tend to clump & calcify into deposits. That explains why she has “lumpy lips”.
3.) lip fillers tend to diminish the vermilion border. So repeated filler to the lips may require a lip tattoo to bring back the natural vermilion border line
4.) filler does stretch the skin out. So if you keep getting & it stays there for years, you’re really helping gravity pull your looks south.
These aren’t the side effects docs or social media tell us. All we’re told is that you can get bruising, blindness, necrosis, etc. But the trend of getting this done (which thankfully is going outta style) has made us aware there are more unintended consequences than we originally thought.

Thank you so much Susan for this video, this was more informative than seeing how “amazing “ those procedures are. It makes us think and research more before getting something done to our face. I got cheek fillers a few years ago, and the doctor was attentive to what I wanted. The result was very natural, and just enhanced my features. I’ve been thinking about under eye fillers but I’m hesitant. This video shed some light on my questions, and I thank you again!

I’m going to get fillers in my lips because I have very nice teeth - I’ve had a lot of dental work and I am very proud of the outcome, the result. At the same time my lips look a bit different and I just want to have “my old mouth”, look how I used to.
With a little “oompf”, a boost.
But I don’t want to have fillers around my eyes. I’ve also seen so many botched results when it comes to fillers around the eyes. I’m relying on my peptides and retinol instead! 😌
I might have fillers in my forehead if I really want to, when I am like 50 or 60.
Right now, I’m in my 40’s and I am very comfortable in my skin and perfectly fine with how I look. My skin have definitely benefit from not being in the sun and I never tanned. Whatever I’ve done seems to have been the right thing!

Unfortunately theres at least an equal amount who are jealous and insecure and maybe even hateful who dont want others "bettering" themselves physically. Which is really sad because in the end we should just want others to be happy. On a side note I thought the girls who got their lip filler dissolved look so beautiful with their natural lips. This Dr released a video recently on how he will no longer do tear trough filler for patients and explains his concerns with all the issues his patients have had in the past. He even gets technical and explains WHY some filler is going into an area it shouldnt, and how it cant be dissolved easily because of this, which patients want due to the filler giving the patient under eye bags. This is also the channel that used MRI to check patients to see of they still had filler in their face 5 yrs after getting any injected, and the results were surprising. (Im actually a MRI technologist myself and Ive seen filler in a patients cheeks when scanning her brain and it was very cool. I figured out what it was pretty quickly. Lol.)

Once a dermatologist also explained that fillers dont just disappear, there might be certain amount of scarring left behind. So nothing is really zero risk.
The last girl was really pretty, her story highlighted that lot of people turn to these things excessively to solve personal problems/mental problems.

Susan, that was a great video. Trying to meet someone else’s expectations will ultimately make us very unhappy with ourselves.

I think most fillers look strange and not that great. I think as humans we subconsciously pick up what's natural and what's out of place. With so many women trying to replicate Kylie Jenner and the thicc lips and thicc bod trend, I find natural beauty to be so rare and beautiful!

I loved my filler and I stopped for like a year and a half cause I'm at like 6 or 7 mils on my lips. This is over a few years and I always get compliments on it, but I kind of want to start fresh 🤔

This video made me so so sad. Such young girls trying to fix insecurities with plastic surgery and fillers... Genuinely, people should just love their imperfections. Going to a doctor to fix them is just not a solution. There are so many other things to focus on and spend most money. So so sad for these girls.

@@rianne_9042 totally, like with everything in this world. I love Susan's skincare videos but I really have a problem with normalising botox and filler for any insecurities or imperfections you have, it's just a terrible option. We could be celebrating wrinkles and aging naturally, while doing great skincare. It doesn't have to go from retinol to botox and it seems like it's starting to just be a thing, as shown with these young girls. I for one am planning to have killer skincare routing until the end of time and a face full of wrinkles to show my age and wisdom. There really should be more discussion about why people are doing this to themselves when you see 19 year olds with completely changed faces.

Can you make a video on BBL'S and maybe you recommend some good surgeons here in Los Angeles.

PS would you recommend cheek implants over cheek fillers?

It takes 2-3 weeks for fillers to disolve ... Fillers fatigue is a huge issue when there are too many fillers done and finally ' Yes ' our natural hylouronic acid is affected by the use of hyalouronidase ....

I am never going to juge a woman for getting surgery but just so that they know 9/10 it’s obvious so denying it like certain celebrities is ridiculous. The most obvious plastic/ cosmetic procedures are:
1)BBL especially if people knew you with hardly any behind or if you have a gigantic behind and tiny legs
2)Lip fillers- They look like you have an allergic reaction and it’s a very unnatural look
    3)Cheek fillers
    4)Botox
Anything else if done by a good surgeon and with reasonable amount, you could look good like boob job up to a D cup for example or a small tweaking to your nose.
