We did this for a parade so you should check your local laws on this.

What type of black tape did you use? Im doing the same thing to a black truck for a parade and dont want to cause any damage to their vehicle.
Gaff tape or Gaffer Tape. Same stuff bands and film productions use to hold down wires. It didn't damage our paint but use at your own risk.
Does the 3m tape hurt your car paint?
Nope it shouldn’t unless you have a bad paint job
