Chris Slade is an absolute monster!
Can't go wrong with Professor X on the drums
But he is no Phil Rudd. Go and listen to a true live performance of this song with Rudd playing (a true live performance..not one that is touched up or even redone in the studio like this version). Slade is always pushing the songs and the band. Rudd's feel is missing.
@@michaelr.4878 Malcolm always bollocked slade for pushing onstage
Yeeeeees
I totally agree 😉 the pleasure of playing and showing it to be smiling that is what Chris has and not Phil ... I think that a pleasant personality is always a plus that is why on an equal level in terms of knowing how to play the favorable side looks in Chris favor
Phil Rudd - The groove machine.
Chris Slade - The machine gun.
agreed
Phil is much better but Chris and Simon are good too
@@galocegodocarrossel3662 Simon tocou com ninguém menos que Ronnie James Dio e tu mete essa?
I liked the drumming in fly on the wall. Forgot his name
@@famousbowl9926that was Simon Wright
Cliff Williams doesn't ever get enough credit for this song, especially live.
4:04 Epic groove by Cliff ❤
While we are arguing about the drummer, please accept my toast and salutes to the incomparable, wonderful, amazing, brilliant writer, guitar riff master, founder of the legends themselves AC/DC and just a seemingly all-around decent fucking guy who left us too soon, the one and only Mr. Malcom Young. You sir are horribly missed, we will crank up your amazing songs as our way to keep your soul and spirit alive. Godspeed maestro.
The world lost a lot when Malcolm left this world to grace the heavens with his amazing talent and incredible mind. He is missed.
I have to agree 💯
This, my friends, is why rock and roll WILL. NEVER. DIE.
Exactly and why no other style or genre of music will beat and outdo it! :)
We Salute you Malcolm Young😢
Christian Leal 😇🎸💪🔥⚡💝🎶🎤👍
We salute you
We salute you Malcolm
I miss you😢
\m/ GET READAYY, -FOR A TWENNY-ONE-GUN SALUUUUUUTE!!!! \m/
Nos saldamos maucom young (we salute you)
This is my favourite version of FTATR. Beats the studio version for me. Brian sounds incredible, Angus still running and jumping around after a two-hour set, Slade looks happier than a pig in shit, Malcolm's rhythm is insane despite one of his strings giving up at the end and the increase in tempo is the icing on the cake. AC/DC, we salute you!
Agree, the speed is awesome and the thing that makes me like this more than the River Plate version or late Rudd versions in general. 80's with Rudd were also great
Elvis P I personally think the one from Moscow in 1991 was the best
1990-1991 the razors edge times..glory years🖤💪😎😍👍
I don't know about that, river plate was awesome!
I would agree it's an amazing rendition, but the cannons in the FIRE!! section being slightly delayed really annoys me.
4:00 Onwards is the definition of a band giving it 110%
The band gave 110% but malcolms g string gave up 4:52
Jack something missing from todays
Fake limp wristed snowflake artists.
Phil sits in the groove and feel and Chris is a kit destroyer. Love the difference between them.
I prefer Chris's swing to Phil's groove
Let me put it this way. Chris sounds better in stadiums. Phil's groove is the perfect studio sound. Phil is AC/DC's backbone.
@@mariorostas1074 i like chris in razors edge before phil replaced him again because in rock or bust chris was dragging but razors edge the crowd needed that hype
@@mariorostas1074 Chris Slade’s drumming is always chick chick chick rather than smooth, washy, and groovy.
Listen to Phil playing Landover 1981. Don’t think in today’s Phil. Chris fitted perfectly those days. 1991 AC/DC sounds heavier than ever. But the AC/DC live sound between 1977 and 1983 is the perfection of how a rock and roll band should sound. And the best Brian’s voice we can hear is on this tour.
3 things you can count on in life-
Death
Taxes
and ACDC delivering the goods..
4:43 We salute you Cliff the eternal forgotten in the comments and yet you are awesome too 👍💜
Hats off to cliff i got to see him in 2015 only time i could,i can die in peace /,,/ fuck yea maaan!!!!
I was about to post a comment on the importance of a great bass player.
AC/DC has one. Cliff Williams.
@@ImaHeatseekr lucky I envy you it's my dream before I die I would like to see them in concert (I'm a woman 😉)
shadydu30 my dad went to see then on the stiff upper lip tour he went to the sacramento show and san jose i was very young he didnt want to take me he regrets it now,to bad i never saw malcolm or phill
@@ImaHeatseekr For Malcolm yes it's unfortunately too late I have big regrets not to have been there before but if Brian returns and it could be well according to his own words for 2021 Phil would also join the group for a possible last tour in tribute to Mal precisely and there I swear that I will go I will miss it for the world
Chris Slade is such a master! He gave this song some much needed drum energy!
Chris Slade > Phil Rudd
@@Alex-kl4vf 100%
Faite cette version avec la voix sublime de bon Scott on va pas être déçu
Phil is definitely more of a solid player tho.
4:00 Chris Slade god mode: ON
Malcolm’s chords underneath Angus’ intro signature lick are about as rock & roll as it gets! 🤘
The greatest opening riff to any song in rock history, and greatest rock n roll anthem period!
way better than the studio version!
Period can be removed nothing can beat this
It's an ace riff no questions. It's odd my favorite AC/DC song changes from day to day and I bet I've never said For Those About to Rock has ever been my number 1. But it's ALWAYS my number 2. :)
Along with: Rush - Working Man; Metallica - End Sandman; Sabbath - War Pigs; Priest - Green Manalishi.
Opening riff is good. The rest of the song is bad
This live version is an absolute classic
Angus rivals Jimmy Page in ability. His solos are killer and suit the song perfectly - what amazes me is Angus is running around like the demented schoolboy he is - how he manages to stay note perfect is the reason he’s Angus Young - what a freak.
exactly that. the world gets so hard for clowns like page, and all they do is stand there. make shit happen or not, they're lifeless. Angus makes MORE shit happen, and he's running/climbing/falling/flailing, and you-name-it, constantly! In Mal's words: "he's a hot player"
Did you just call jimmy page a clown?
@@jacobtimmer0136 yeah I did, and based off your textual tone, you're probably one of the people I was initially referencing.
@@ImperialRadioYT Lol even Malcolm moves more than some famous lead players, and has pretty good lead playing capabilities.
@@cockroach5717 EXACTLY!
It is in my personal opinion that there will never be another rock anthem that can close out a show better than this song. We Salute You!!!
3:56 Best part of the song! Damn I wish I could've seen this live there...
I was there. It was amazing
My first ever gig this whole day was rockin 🤘
Still in my top 5 gigs. It was one hell of a day \m/
Best part of the Rock and Roll history 😭😭😭
Had the honour to see them at the next show a few days later in Munich at "Monsters of Rock" together with Metallica, Mötley Crew, Queenryche and the Black Crowes...Sniff...😜🤘

Greatest rock song in history IMO. The original vocals, the instrumental talent, the buildup, etc is unbelievable.
Happiness is when you arrive home after a fucked up day and you see that your fav band posted a new video! Love you AC/DC

This was the best concert hands down, sorry River Plate but clear a path.
100%
Agreed... plus everything's tuned down a key in river plate... listen to this then immediately listen to it at river plate you'll see
I'm From Argentina..i was at the River Plate Stadium shows (two of them) and i have to tsay you're right..back in the day i bought in 93 the Donnington double CD and later the DVD and definitely it was a better show for sure.

I was just sitting here rockin' out to this vid loving the drums and had to check the comments to see if anyone else noticed....of course they did!!!!! Slade's having the time of his life and the energy is contagious!! LOVE IT!!
Slade originally didn't fit in because he was a true studio drummer, but man his live chops are so much better than Phil Rudd's!
@@bensexton254 this is what people don't realize, phil rudd didn't give any energy in live shows, he may have been great in the studio, but he didn't even play stuff up tempo, which for AC/DC, is great when live

Brian Johnson living legend
One of the best live rock concerts of all time by far
Chris Slade makes Phil Rudd look like he plays drums in a coma. The man is a beast.
Rudd has a feel, and swagger... Plus that heavy foot.

I love the drummer. He is great. Brian has so a special voice. I love it
I'm so happy to be able that I've seen them live. I was 8 years old and it was my first and only concert I've been to, and Brian pointed right at me because I was on my brothers shoulders the entire concert lol 11 rows from the stage 11/7/08
First gig I ever went to at 16, was AC/DC in Wembley '96. Went straight to the front row, stayed there all night. Bass pumping my heart for me and taking the breath from my lungs.
Thought it was really loud until they fired the guns! Made my life complete when Brian pointed right at me. I stood up and was counted 🤘
Saw them the same year at the same age. Chicago 10/30/2008. Dad and I rocked out then saw them again in 2015. Long live AC/DC

This is the best Live album ever made. Can barley hear the crowd and the sound is fucking incredible!
born in 94, so glad I could see the Back in Black lineup of Angus/Mal/Brian/Cliff/Phil live twice. I’ll cherish that forever. one of the most special bands of all time.

Me lembro quando meu pai comprou o DVD desse show. Considero ele um grande músico e guitarrista, e sempre me inspirei nele. Hoje temos uma relação melhor. Let's rock!
What a way to finish a show

Chris Slade I salute you! Absolute Beast!
Chris is having a fucking blast and that crowd gives me goose bumps!
Best tour and best drummer... i will miss Chris if ACDC does his last tour
this is my favorite version of the song.
The level of climbing the beat is most fast when climax.
I feel very good.
And they’re tensions was also very good.
AC/DC proved at Donnington that a group who's members were in their late thirties to mid forties could still rock! Chris was 45, Brian was 44, Cliff was 42, Malcolm was 38, and Angus was 36.
Witnessed the Ballbreaker, Stiff Upper Lip, Black Ice and Rock or Bust tour. So happy that I did, the best live band of alltime. If this was it, I salute you. No band has given me more and is more important to me. Respect.
3:57-end gave me chills...
I love the difference in how Chris Slade drums and Phil Rudd. Chris bangs the hell out of em.
Damn right !
Fuck yeah
Idk man there's something about Phil that sounds really good to me
@@stevencastillo8914 He does everything to perfection
yeah. the man deserved to be famous for something other than being AC/DC's spare drummer.
i mean, Phil is a great drummer too, but there's something about those drum fills that, for lack of a better term, gives me the fuzzies.
I cried when I heard this song live. I cried cause I knew it was the last song of the night. I was epic
If that don't give you chills your already dead

Donington 1991 what a day I was there 🤘🤘⚡️⚡️🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I can trace my hearing lose to the 1990 Razor's Edge tour, when I was a wee lad still in high school. This concert at the old Met Stadium in Bloomington, MN was the loudest thing I ever experienced (not complaining). Those cannons! They rattled my flipping teeth!! (still not complaining). Hands down the best concert I ever saw in my life.
Was there at my very first 'Donny' just to the left at the end of that line of stewards sticking out. Wow it's a day i'll never forget. Being more than warmed up by a truly fabulous set by Metallica playing much of the Black Album and then this. Incredible.

My older brother seen them a few times. Once in the late 80s while my Dad was stationed over in Berlin he took a trip to see them. He used to talk about that cannon fire at the end a lot. I wish I couldve gone to a show with him to see these legends.
The cannons were impressive enough in outdoor shows, but in indoor arenas they were just incredible. Devastatingly loud and shook the building. I don't think my hearing ever fully recovered from seeing them at the Birmingham NEC in '88 \m/
