I'm not sure I understand entirely, because 5...g6 has already been played in that position. If you meant 6...e6, then 7.c3 Nge7 8.d4 works out nicely for White as taking the pawn on d4 is extremely dangerous for Black after 8...cxd4 9.cxd4 Qb6 10.Kh1! and now 10...Nxd4? loses to 11.Be3 while 10...Bxd4 11.Nxd4 Qxd4 12.Qe1 is excellent for White who has long-term compensation in view of the weakened dark squares in Black's camp.

@@marknieuweboer8099 Sorry, I misunderstood, I had another position in mind. In the line you gave, 12.Nc3 is better than 12.Qe1, but I think White should play more slowly along the usual lines with 8.Na3 and then either Qe1, Nc2, Be3 and d4 according to circumstances.
Yeah, I looked at 8.Na3 as well. However thus Black has prevented White from building a broad centre. That looks like a small positional victory to me. Black can choose between d6, d5 and maybe even b6. This is the way I would play as Black. It's still a game of course.

I used to play this structure from the black side in the Rat defense (1.d4 d6 2.c4 e5 3.d5 f5)
