Your eldest son,Eli? Looks so serious watching everything you do w concentration. He's your best partner. Besides your wife of course. How could a family ask for more. You guys are truly blessed
Thank you!
When my husband was in college, he took a course on beekeeping since his father had a peach orchard. I showed him your extractor. and he knew right off what he was seeing, although he had to do his manually. My husband has Alzheimer’s so it was really nice to see him react to seeing your extractor.
I've wondered why you didn't have one of these, they are fabulous! You might look into a hot knife to uncap the cells next. Love your videos and your family!
Thanks 😊
@@whitehouseonthehill Still watching 👀 Like ⏰️👈🙏
Cool
@@whitehouseonthehill cool
One of my mentor told me that if u strain honey with fine cloth you will lessen the benefits u get from it.Nice to see u have an extractor.
I'm so glad your bees are more chilled out this year. I hate seeing all of you get stung, but also appreciate you show the reality of keeping bees.
I agree!
Seeing the boys all dressed in their beekeeping suits is just so enchanting.
You really make these videos so appealing and the story is delightful to follow.
A glimpse into a modern pastoral life.
🥰
Thank you, Darlou!
Very cool to watch you guys grow your Apairy and get equipment to make the harvest go smooth. Keep that smoker lit, and hello from Northern California 🤙
Thanks 😊
Talking about sweet honey How sweet is little Isabella just walking about and playing 😍 time flies 🐝🥺
when you go to bolt the extractor down what I would do is use threaded rod secured to the surface your going to bolt it to and use wing nuts to hold the extractor down so that when you need to tip it all you have to do is loosen the wing nuts; no tools required
I gotta say: It is incredibly sweet to see you teach your sons stuff while they are also your camera crew. Wholesome
Never watched any homestead like you guys. You just produce almost everything out of your farmland. Thay must be a lot of work. Love watching what you guys are doing.
I've never thought about using Legos for a bee hive awesome
BEAUTIFUL honey , farm , animals & family 🍀💛 thanks for sharing your life working & living on a farm . I enjoy your videos
I must say that every time I see the boys out there with you in those little bee keeper suits, it just makes me laugh and smile. It is one of the most adorable things in the world. That and them getting chased around by the emus. 😂 😂
😀
I believe it could be helpful to you if you investigate queen excluders! :)
They go in between the boxes and stop the queen from laying brood in the to box :) itll be just honey (in that box)
they've used them/mentioned them in videos before, though i don't know enough about bees or hives to say anything on the subject other than that
@@riley._.5332 I didnt know that :) thanks for letting me know.
such a beautiful video... I LOVE what your teaching the kiddos.. NOTHING better than pure honey!
Thank you ❤
I love how at 10:37 in the background you can see (Isabella?) playing! So cute!
That is probably the prettiest honey I’ve ever seen. And getting that new machine certainly has made a difference in harvesting it. I have a sister who raises bees and I’m going to send this video to her because I think she would be very interested in buying one of these machines as well.
It was so sweet when your youngest son said, “I Wike Honey” 😊♥️😊♥️♥️♥️♥️❣️😀😀😀And we watch the boys those helping you scrape the honey off and they listen to every word you said & Desired to help you
I missed the honey stock again 😭 I’m so glad I’m able to watch the process and show my love from the other side! Your Columbia Mo fan, Ember! ❤️
Awesome extractor! Lol on it moving around like an unbalanced washer. Glad you got it. The kids helping is so adorable 🥰
Oh my gosh. The honey is so beautiful. I do hope there will be some for sale in the near future, because I know how delicious that liquid gold is. ❤️🐝
I agree with Becky, I was thinking how nice it was that it leaves you so much more comb on the frame for the bees to work on again, I don't know much about bee keeping, but that seems like a good thing for them and you in the long run!
i cant beleive you has this much bees its amazing!
I know my family always harvest honey when it is hot outside, helps the honey to come out easier ☺️. I love honey 🍯
Love how involved you have the children involved learning valuable lessons even if they don't know it yet
It's like a centerfuge in a lab. All sides have to be equal size and close in weight and that will balance out the drum.
Yep, makes sense
I love your children they are brave!
So neat! I just extracted about 800 frames today. This channel got me interested in bees and now I work on a bee farm!
Well that sure is cool!
That honey looks scrumptious! Love how everyone gets to help! What great memories the kids will have when theu get older❤️
It would be so cool to see a family picture of you all in the Bee suits and a hive.
I’m glad you got your spinner for the honey. Yes, I know it is a retractor but spinner sounds more fun. I love how you recycle the legos to be used as a beehive. It is a great use of resources.
How’s Maisy and Dolly? As always you have a beautiful family.
Good, Dolly is due in October and Maisy should be coming home soon and we'll see if she's pregnant.
I love you let your babies help. They will never forget
Absolutely amazing, that honey is already out of stock! Your kids are so terrific.
What you will found out is also that your bees will produce much more honey. In Slovenia we estimate they need 7kg honey to produce 1kg of wax. Extract frames and bring them back to bees. Before puting in to the hive just spray them with water lightly. Bees will fix and use frames overnight.
But be carful. When wax frames gets so dark that you cant see sun through it, melt it for wax and dont give it back to hives.
Hello family from United Kingdom 🇬🇧, I love your family the way you teach your children how thing work and grow, keep up the good work xx
*Genuinely loved the fast forward compilation of the family building the lego bee hive. ⏩🐝💨*
😀
Great video! Love seeing everyone pitching in. Keep up the great content. We love ya!
oh my gosh, I haven't watched y'all in a year and 1/2 so glad to start watching again how's the farm? Y'all the best! :)
Thank you for watching, Ellie
I've been following you guys for a while now and every video tells me this is the kind of life I would want.
That and traveling.. not the stupid job that I have in order to survive.
NZ is beautiful but the government destructive.
Wishing you and your family all the best. I love you guys and want to thank you for posting these videos
I've been watching you guys for years now, and I finally picked up a jar of honey. I really cant wait to see how it tastes.
🙌
Hey guys I been loving the videos for years I started watching you guys when I was 5 and now I’m a teen that learn and from you guys and enjoy Your videos that are amazing.
You guys should try ring neck pheasants I hatched 3 out this year and there amazing little birds.
Thank you!
Can you share which extractor you purchased, and keep us posted on how you like it? Many thanks!
I've been watching a few of your videos! You guys are nuts! Lego boxes! Wow!! I love that you have the whole family involved! Good on you guys!
I love that you've got the flowhive too! I bought one and support the local bee keeper by giving it to them as I'm unable to look after it!
I love your new extractor, and the kitties in the back ground!
Lots of love and hugs from Dawn Lynn and Larry in Ottawa Canada!
An inner cover would totally fit under the Lego lid! It is made of wood and standard for langstroth then you could still keep your Lego lid and it won't get stuck
I might try that
I love how you have different animals and even though it’s hard to have a farm I want one because you have inspired me to want one
Those 16 minutes go by so fast it’s not enough 😭😂 whenever I watch your videos I feel like I’m apart of your family (:
Keep going with your farm I love ur vids and I wish u all the support u can get 👍👍👌😁
As always, so interesting and fun. One suggestion: everyone should wear gloves while coming into contact with honey that is not going to be strictly for your own family's consumption! Otherwise, what an amazing experience for your kids! It was too cute watching them trying to hold the extractor still while it was off balance!
Oh wow, you wouldn't appreciate my honey.
I use my feet to crush and strain my honey then I ship it off to the orphanages & grocery stores.
So far, no one complains.
Always such beautiful vlogs. Love that everything is so family oriented. You guys are teaching the next generation wonderful things. It is wonderful that y'all are teaching your babies manners. Just a wonderful family all around. Have a blessed day!!
Thank you, Jackie!
With the kiddos helping and your new machine you really ought to consider an uncapping roller vs a knife or other tools. They’re like $15 and work amazingly well - and leave very little capping waste. Try it - you won’t be sorry! And PS - you took this honey way too early. You notice how thin it is? Next go round wait until you get full frames all the way capped. You’re doing awesome! Way to connect your family.
So cool having something to do that is both beneficial to the world and brings the family close.
Your videos are always so calm and wholesome, I love them :)
Thank you, Sarah!
Curious, what do you do with the bee's wax? Do you make candles or other stuff with it?
We have bees as well, I’m allergic so unfortunately can’t help with collecting the frames, but I really enjoy processing and packaging it. We had a REALLY bad year due to our weather here and sadly went from 6 hives to ONE. We are in the process of trying to salvage one that we lost the Queen. We did have an abundance of honey from our one active hive, and collected a little over 8 gallons from it this May.
I’ve been here since 200k and y’all’s videos just keep getting better and better love y’all ❤️
Thank you so much
Y’all are very welcome❤️
Now that you have a extractor, have you considered getting a uncapping fork? That’s what we used we just went over the caps a few times. Loving the content!
Just got one
Best content in my 2022
All of your content makes me feel relax and i always learn new things
Thank you!
Very interested in the Flow hives! So glad that the Yellow hive is now populated with angel bees!
They look amazing and healthy. Those jars look like little pools of sunshine. Our hive died early this year. Australia is having a real problem in the honey industry atm. There's some bug here that's infesting hives and killing bees. The only fix is to clear out the hive, remove all biological debris and have the whole hive irradiated. It's costly and there's only one place on the eastern seaboard where you can get this treatment. We may buy a new hive soon and move it out to our property
Sorry that happened to you
@@whitehouseonthehill Thanks guys, we learned our lessons
Please get a mentor for your bees, Slow down when pulling frames, check boxes when putting them on the ground as you had clumps on the base of the hive, and do the shake test of frames if nectar drips out it is not ready for harvest and your honey will frement, maybe also learn how to do a sugar shake test for varroa mite and buy AFB test kits, if you want to stop the lego hive lid from sticking place some chux cloth on the top box to stop the bees building propolis and glueing the lid down, Keep honey gate open when spinning or it will jam up your base bearing and cause it to rust. some simple tips for you.
I just bought some honey! Im excited to try it! Ive missed out in the past. I really enjoy your channel! 🥰
🙌
I love your channel so much. Keep up the nice work!
I do suggest planting some sedums. Autumn Joy sedums are my personal favorite. We had them all around the house and bees, butterflies, even hummingbirds swarmed the flowers on the sedums. It was crazy. Also the plants survive the winter just fine, I just trim off the dead stems in the spring and leave them be. Very low maintenance plants that everything loves when it blooms! Only thing I suggest is tying all the flower stalks together so they support eachother because when it rains while they're in full bloom the flower heads will get heavy and droop over. They do pretty good in hot dry summers as well.
I love how he just kicked (yeeted) the box. He was just like box your useless.
😂
while bolting it down will help with the rattling to a degree another option is to have a few empty frames around with at least some combs or wax on them when you extract from less then 3 of the same frames basicaly counter weights and dont mix different frames even if that takes longer. Doing this wont only lower the noise but helps with the extracor having a lower level of wear and tear on both the motor/gear parts and the conection to its legs. Just bolting it down can either lead to it shacking itself lose or braking at the legs something you dont want to happen when its in full spinn.
I like that you put your White House logo on the new hive. Much respect for your family.
Oh look! Isabella can walk already! And the white peacocks are still alive, im so happy to see this. Your fans ChuckandMax
Perhaps you should plant an area on your land in sunflower. Then you could harvest the heads for the birds & the honey. Or seed an area in white clover and an area in red clover somewhere you can rotate the cows through. And broadcast an area in wild flower mix specific to your area. This would offer your bees more food with a rotating schedule of bloom times.v
We have so many wildflowers and clover in our field... every bee video seems to prompt people to say this but I promise we have miles and miles of wildflowers out here.
Gday mate just use a hard wood pallet and screw / bolt legs to hold the extractor down also when straining you can use paint strainer bags you can pick em up from the hardware paint section fits over the bucket Rim bloody awesome also to get all the honey out just lift up pallet, and pop a brick under all excess honey will flow to the honey gate and flow out
Have you ever noticed (probably hard to do now) but different hives honey tasting a bit different? I'm genuenly curious, is one sweeter, is another thicker, one more subtle or fragrant? Or are they all pretty much the same?
Yes, honey coming from different parts of the yard tastes different depending on the flowers in that area.
I was really hoping you'd get these for your bees. I have been wondering why most of the time you're very traditional at harvesting honey.
The color of the honey is so beautiful
Absolutely love watching your videos. Your children are adorable, my children have a love for animals & the homestead life. Your videos make me want to go get land & chickens & piggies & ducks. 😇 blessings 🙏
The bees always scare me, I remember you getting attacked last year and it was horrible. I’m allergic to bees so I could never do this. I’m glad you got a new tool to help you extract the honey. I just love watching your family succeed and grow. God bless you all, your fans ChuckandMax
Thanks!
Did you know that if you take your buckets and tools out near your hives the bees will clean them off for you? Probably overnight everything would be all clean ☺️ Feeds the bees and helps you cut cleaning time too!
Such a wonderful family I`d wish to have someday!!
Cool. I like the tall frames. We have the same make of centrifuge, but the hand crank model. It works good. The best way to do be keeping is with your state's counties cooperative extension office. They will usually offer a class and a way to meet bee keepers in your county. As you get into it you can branch out and go to other counties bee keeper meetings, network.
U should have excludes on. Makes it so much easier and safer. Then the top is nothing but honey
Your honey operation is just great!
These videos are so well edited
I might look into to getting some hives idk
for cleaning that drum, ive seen another bee keeper on youtube that leaves it out near the hives for the bees to reclaim the leftover honey
its a honeyslig!!!!! and great job boys!
Good call getting an extractor. You might also want to invest in an electric knife that heats up to take off the wax caps.
I love you guys so much!
Love your videos. I live in South Africa and so wished you were living here. Love honey and would have supported all the way but shipping cost is too much for me. Greetings, Sara. 🐝
Honey is best vitamins for your livestock 1 tablespoon for every 1liter og water , or you can mixed it with grains or pellets .. from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Got my honey today with the pen and stickers.
This channel helped me know what I want to be when I grow up.... a honey farmer
😀
I work at a large scale Bee outfit and we have an extractor that holds 500 to 600 frames at once
You need to Have the honey gate open while you extract, if too much honey gathers in the bottom your frames will whip up your honey and also damage your extractor.
Love your videos and I think you should get a another beehive at the end of March I I love the videos of you getting honey from the hives.
I love all the bee videos, they are such interesting creatures. You guys go through such a ride with them and the other animals, best wishes to you and yours ^_^
In Mexico 🇲🇽 my husband use to do that bee job one day he didn’t take all his equipment the bees were mad 😠 he got bite by a lot of bees
Hopefully I can buy one this year, I always seem to miss the chance. Can't wait for the next vid.
Could you post a link to the extractor? I am interested in checking it out if it fits horizontal hive frames. Thanks!
This was the extractor: millerbeesupply.com/product_info.php?products_id=555 - it's also available on the Horizontal Hive site: horizontalhive.com/buy-hive-bees/swarm-trap-top-bar-sale.shtml
Want to precious thing to involve your whole family in this awesome project. Oh my gosh love the Lego hives. I have 13 myself not Lego of course but 13 hives, lol.
Hi guys, the Lego Hives are so Cool, great job 👏.
The yellow Hive last year was Crazy Mean😨.
What a wonderful machine👍.
When I was young I didn't care for Honey much, now I use it for allergies and Love it 😊.
That's a great harvest out of just 3 frames 🐦.
JO JO IN VT 😆💕
I'm never disappointed here!
Glad to hear it 😊
We used to drain it off and set the extracter out bythe bees and they came and took back their honey. Then we would sterilize.Bees are generous with their bounty
