Like you said, it’s a drop in the bucket, but I love that you pick up the stray bees 🥺. Your video made me realize I love watching honey harvesting videos lol
I have 2 questions, how much do you lose after cutting the cells open and honey just oozing out into the bucket of waste? And how do you make sure the bees have food for the winter? do you leave cells filled or can they feed all year long?
Nice video. I love honey as a sweetener in my coffee. My pet praying mantids loved it as a treat too once a week. I've never seen someone harvest it on a small scale like that before. That was very cool.
Loved watching this. Was real inspiring and a joy to watch. I'm not a bee keeper, so take this advice with a grain of salt, but maybe for next year's harvest you could drill holes in the bottom of your tote (with a reemer or step bit to get clean holes. Regular drill bit would make ragged holes I think, maybe worth testing on a junk piece of plastic first to be sure) and then seating it inside another tote. That way the honey would passively drain into the bottom tote while you're processing the whole thing. Not sure if it would get all the honey, obviously, but hey, just a thought I had while watching the end part there. God bless you and yours, thanks for sharing this.
I was watching that handle and screaming "It's gonna fall into the bucket!" These videos are so awesome, My 11 year old son and I watch them together, thanks for the great content!!
@Hello Boyz These bees do not make his life at all lol. I'm sure beekeeping is a very small part of his life, like a hobby. He probably makes more income from the ads on these videos than selling the actual honey. It's life is not worth getting stung over.
@@AdamJensen_ if the ads come from revenue on his beekeeping content.. and that's his main source of income (i have no idea if that's true or not, just hypothetically) than yeah, they ARE his living. also why are you so pressed that someone might find him rescuing a bee thats able to be rescued bad? tons of bees die that he can't prevent, but a bee in the honey has to be taken out regardless. if its still alive why not save it if you can, if all it takes is a few moments. he's risking stings like all day what's one more chance
Thanks for sharing! I never get tired of watching your honey harvest videos; looks like you're getting your money's worth from the 4 frame extractor now that you have more hives :) Those sounds at 12:30 of the bees hitting the camera/mic (?) are so cute and funny XD
Several of the below comments inspired this question: Would it be of (enough) value to have a hot water bath nearby to lower the viscosity of the honey in the cappings, etc. to get more goodness flowing?
That's an interesting idea. My fear would be drying the cappings first. If too much water gets into the honey it will ferment and be ruined. Maybe some kind of a solar hot box to put the boxes in to get the temperature up a few degrees. The honey is actually pretty warm right off the hive.
I used to help my father with his bee hives, getting the frames and uncapping the honey. We had a heated tray that melted the caps and helped separate more honey from the wax. Then the frames went in the spinner with a motor so strong we had to clamp it to a pallet and stand on it to stop it rocking. Good times

Bees are so so cute my second favorite animal I think I studied them when I was 15 at Christmas years ago their dances and life style and anatomy and the stuff they produce . It’s awesome I was always destined to be with my boyfriend but back then I thought I’d wanna work with bees one day haha
i like how a lot of beekeeping is "well the bees probably know best" :) no fancy tech needed to figure out when the honey is done for example, the bees just cap it when they think so and that's good enough for us.
Another great extraction. It must be a rewarding experience every Spring to see what's been going on with your bee friends. I'm curious, is it satisfying slicing the cappings off? It looks like it would be lol. Also, do the bees fill up certain boxes in particular first or go in certain order, bottom to top or top to bottom for example? I notice you tend to check the middle/lower boxes primarily for honey. Congrats on the new equipment!
Nice use of the blower, would never have thought of using one due to potentially harming the bees. I was waiting for the cullender to fall, I could see it happening.
Buy a refractometer. You likely could have harvested a lot more of it. Cappings make no difference. As long as your water content is below 18, ideally 16-17%. When mixed with dryer honey it balances out.
Do you have to leave some of the honey in the racks for the bees to eat or do you clean out the racks every time? Do you know what the bees would do with suhch a surplus in naure?
Do you wash off the frames before you put them back, or does the residue help the bees? Do your sticky hands bother u? Why don’t you clean the bee guts off the rubber tote between re-use? How do you rinse your hands in between?

my mom calls honey "liquid gold". back in the 70s-80s, she kept 8 hives in the backyard and harvested the honey, then jarred and sold it at the local farmer's market for $5 a jar. that's about $22 per jar in today's money. on a busy day she'd sell about 30 jars within 5-6 hours. that's about $660 in today's money. for a single saturday. and sometimes she'd go on sundays too and sell more. that's over $100 an hour. and wow, did she clean up. over the years, she literally put herself through night school just from her "honey money". unfortunately she couldn't keep it up once she had 4 of us kids, but man, she used to make a killing with those hives.
I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3 Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image. I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people? I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true. Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. He desires for you to return back to Him. Unfortunately, He has been misrepresented and seen as a cruel and angry God who anticipates for us to slip and writes down every mistake we make waiting to punish us by those who do not know or know Him fully. My friends, God has stored many opportunities and blessings for you. He is incredibly eager and desires with all His heart to bless you abundantly. He wants you to live with Him again. He only wants the best for you and your well being. He wants to experience everlasting joy and indescribable happiness in this life and in the life to come. He wants you to partake of His goodness and come and follow Him. The Lord does not care how early or late you decide to come unto Him. I testify to you that if you have strayed and wondered off the path that there is peace and hope in Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. The Lord accepts those who come unto Him whether your early, late or just in time who desire to change. The Lord will accept you wholeheartedly and forgive you if you are willing to change. The Lord will welcome you and will always be ready to embrace you with open arms. The Lord will lift us up in our trials and use us to bless the lives of those around us if we are willing to change. If you desire to learn more, you are always welcome to visit comeuntochrist.org. There you will learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ and our core beliefs and values. If you have taken the time to read The Book of Mormon and this comment, thank you. It takes a huge leap of faith and a lot of courage to muster enough faith to read in the Book of Mormon and to believe in something in a personage that you may never see in this lifetime. Although we may not be able to see God and Jesus Christ in this life, I testify to you that they are real. They do truly exist. I promise you that if you will pray to know of their existence, you will come to know whether they exist or have been made up. You are my friends. The Lord loves you and is aware of you and despite all our weaknesses and shortcomings, he still loves us and will forgive us if we will humble ourselves before Him and diligently seek correction and do whatever is needed to repent. Remember that The Lord is always available to talk to through prayer 24/7. No question sounds too silly for Him. James wrote, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" James 1:5. If you must know whether or not something is true or evil and deceptive, you can always pray to God. He will help you know what the truth is and what is not the truth. He will never be too busy to talk to. He will give you strength you need to overcome and conquer your temptations and will give you the strength you need to endure through your trials and afflictions. Paul said that The Lord will not give you temptations that you cannot resist, but that in your temptations, He will provide a way for you to resist, overcome and conquer them. He will provide a way. He wants to bless you and reward you abundantly in Spiritual and physical things. The Lord knows you and will not forget you. You are loved. You are utterly amazing. You have incredible potential. You are not forgotten or ever will be forsaken. You are special. You are unique. You are one of a kind. You have been reserved for this time and The Lord needs you on His side. It simply would not be the same without you. That's just how much the Lord need you on His side. Thank you for your time.
When I kept bees, I would strain the cappings through 5 gallon paint strainer bags you can get at the hardware store. I would use a rope, and hang the bags, above a bucket, and leave it to drip overnight. I think there's a video of it on my channel. I enjoyed the video. Thanks.
By far this is the most educational video about bees and honey. I love bees and I love a step-by-step process. I would've gotten the manual spinner as well. Great job on this!!
It takes a little more work but if you spin the frames twice, you can spin out the uncapped nectar first, and then extract the remaining honey on a second pass... Then use the nectar to feed weaker colonies, splits, or dump it back on a strong hive and they will be capping it before you know it. Some may say don't feed honey back to bees because it may spread diseases, but I have never had a problem and I don't treat my bees with anything, at all, ever... Only thing I do is add beetle traps if I see more than a few in a hive. 200+ colonies and just splitting survivor stock...
I really enjoyed watching this. Maybe you can hook an old bike up to a couple belts and use that to turn the crank 🤔 bet you'd get ALL the honey out like that 👍 Good cardio too.

He cuts the cappings and filters them too.
He only extract 2 boxes from 4 box, probably it will last through winter
I used to do this for my grandad when i was 6 and now im 64 really enjoyed your video
Nice video. I love honey as a sweetener in my coffee. My pet praying mantids loved it as a treat too once a week. I've never seen someone harvest it on a small scale like that before. That was very cool.
You have a very soothing voice that makes me fall fast asleep.
no hate btw but are u not wasting some honey when i take that wax stuff of????But Great Vid
God bless you and yours, thanks for sharing this.
great video!
just wondering...how do you determine how much honey to take from a hive and how much to leave for your bees?
I was watching that handle and screaming "It's gonna fall into the bucket!" These videos are so awesome, My 11 year old son and I watch them together, thanks for the great content!!
Love how you saved that little bee that fell into the honey 💜
@Lacey He didn't really need to do that, not worth the risk of a sting lol. Just toss it and move on. But agreed that is some quality honey 👍
@Hello Boyz These bees do not make his life at all lol. I'm sure beekeeping is a very small part of his life, like a hobby. He probably makes more income from the ads on these videos than selling the actual honey. It's life is not worth getting stung over.
@@AdamJensen_ if the ads come from revenue on his beekeeping content.. and that's his main source of income (i have no idea if that's true or not, just hypothetically) than yeah, they ARE his living. also why are you so pressed that someone might find him rescuing a bee thats able to be rescued bad? tons of bees die that he can't prevent, but a bee in the honey has to be taken out regardless. if its still alive why not save it if you can, if all it takes is a few moments. he's risking stings like all day what's one more chance
amazing process...! how do you get started doing this???? fantastic
Thanks for sharing! I never get tired of watching your honey harvest videos; looks like you're getting your money's worth from the 4 frame extractor now that you have more hives :) Those sounds at 12:30 of the bees hitting the camera/mic (?) are so cute and funny XD
3:54 that blower don’t look violent. It just looks hilarious.
I love videos like this😌😌😌 so satisfying to watch and listen to you explaining to us how it’s done and how it works keep up the great work💙
Took me back to time spent with my Grampa… a well-known Michigan bee-keeper. Thanks!
I am also interested to see how you separate the valuable bees' wax.
Probably the best video on honey extraction. Well done my friend!
@@falllineridge AHhh, When I said bath, I meant like a large tub with a pan floating inside it but with the honey protected.
@@falllineridge Christie had an alternate idea. Have a forced air quartz heater blowing on the machines.
Don't want to warm honey too much, not good for it
@@williamkn621 Did I say to but in an oven?
I used to help my father with his bee hives, getting the frames and uncapping the honey. We had a heated tray that melted the caps and helped separate more honey from the wax. Then the frames went in the spinner with a motor so strong we had to clamp it to a pallet and stand on it to stop it rocking.
Good times
Since I absolutely had to find it: here is where our hero saves the little bee 15:10
Absolutely gorgeous. Honey is an amazing product. I've been taking fresh Royal Jelly for the past 25 years. It helps with my headaches
3:48 " It does look a bit voilent but it does not hurt the bees"
3:52 500 bees RIP 🤣🤣🤣
Bees be like " Its him again. Run for your life"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I Really Enjoyed Watching😊My Dad Messed With Bees Years Ago Briefly But Never Don’t Think To Getting Any Honey,There’s Nothing Like Fresh Honey On A Biscuit,Muffin,Bagel,Waffle,Etc;God Bless The Bee Keepers All Over The World For Doing + Showing Us This Amazing Craft😊Thanks For Sharing USA❤
Bees are so so cute my second favorite animal I think I studied them when I was 15 at Christmas years ago their dances and life style and anatomy and the stuff they produce . It’s awesome I was always destined to be with my boyfriend but back then I thought I’d wanna work with bees one day haha
i like how a lot of beekeeping is "well the bees probably know best" :)
no fancy tech needed to figure out when the honey is done for example, the bees just cap it when they think so and that's good enough for us.
They start in the top box and work their way down. It's satisfying when the entire frame can be done in one slice.
@@falllineridge Same with us watching mate. Very satisfying if done in one slice.
I love that you got the shot of the honey coming out of the cell in the extractor! Nicely done and informative video
Seeing that honey pour into the filters, true liquid gold 🤤
Love how you try and help the bees 🐝 who got caught up in the process 🥰🙏
Nice use of the blower, would never have thought of using one due to potentially harming the bees.
I was waiting for the cullender to fall, I could see it happening.
Great video, thanks for sharing your amazing honey processes.
What are your favorite Bee Hives ?
What year is the cool old jeep ?
Buy a refractometer. You likely could have harvested a lot more of it. Cappings make no difference. As long as your water content is below 18, ideally 16-17%. When mixed with dryer honey it balances out.
Do you have to leave some of the honey in the racks for the bees to eat or do you clean out the racks every time? Do you know what the bees would do with suhch a surplus in naure?
What would be the expected profit from a good overall harvest?
I like the fact that you value every single bee.
u need wild flowers in ur bee field dude
❤ I am 16 years old and I found this to be so fascinating. I watched the whole video. Good job!
Kelly Price
Great job showing the process. Man, you already extracted that much in May? That's awesome! Usually end of June/Early July here.
Stumbled across your you tube channel what a very clever process, I find it therapeutic to. Thanks for sharing now to watch to the end ..
I really want to get my own bee hive😮😁
Do it.
wow this is so interesting, never seen the whole process of harvesting honey. Thank you for making this video
Nossa que mel lindo !!
Beekeeping is a way of life. I have a lot of respect for those little critters.
Do you wash off the frames before you put them back, or does the residue help the bees? Do your sticky hands bother u? Why don’t you clean the bee guts off the rubber tote between re-use? How do you rinse your hands in between?
I just wanted a 22 min video of harvesting honey and i have to say good job on keeping me entertained.
A quick note. If you need parts for your Jeep, there is a dealer in Nashville, Indiana who has a full stock of Jeep parts. The company is C-C Equipment. He also buys and sells earthmoving equipment.. He handles a fair number of ex-military units. They do a full service on everything they bring in and many times do a full paint job-they are good. Clint is the head guy. He spends a lot time on the road going to auctions all over this side of the Rockies.
Just when you think the world has gone to shit you watch something like this and it gives you hope.
The way he says honey is like asmr.
I really enjoyed watching how it's done. I love honey, especially the good stuff just like yours. Again my appreciation for a well done presentation.
Wow, when you cut away the caps, all of that honey, just cut a nice piece off and - yum! 🤤 That was very informative, thanks for posting!
If I close my eyes I can pretend Dr. Phil is showing me how he harvests honey.
my mom calls honey "liquid gold". back in the 70s-80s, she kept 8 hives in the backyard and harvested the honey, then jarred and sold it at the local farmer's market for $5 a jar.
that's about $22 per jar in today's money. on a busy day she'd sell about 30 jars within 5-6 hours.
that's about $660 in today's money. for a single saturday. and sometimes she'd go on sundays too and sell more. that's over $100 an hour.
and wow, did she clean up.
over the years, she literally put herself through night school just from her "honey money".
unfortunately she couldn't keep it up once she had 4 of us kids, but man, she used to make a killing with those hives.
Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians.
And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3
Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Honey is the only one food that will never rot!!! I love it and eat a lot of it. TY for sharing these videos and rescuing that little bee...but how is it that you don't get stung?? Ha!!
You're so sweet, nice of you to save that bee. This is what I call a symbiotic relationship. I liked and subscribed❤!
I simply can not watch these videos without running to the kitchen and sticking a spoon in the honey jar.
Very intriguing! I'm curious about why the boxes are painted?
