- This is my sort of how to guide on how I replaced the buttons on my Odin 2 with white buttons and joysticks. If you try to do this yourself you can use this as a guide to help you get through it as I plan to do a picture step by step for my next one.

Lol i would not have the guts to pull this apart, well done looks super cool
Brave man taking those apart
I can't wait to take apart the max model!
I've been thinking of hydro dipping my RP3 Plus, but I'm still working up the courage to take it apart. 😂
Just do it, it's not that scary!
Very well designed by the looks of it never seen the inside of the odin 2 😄💯🏆💚👊
Well now you have next I make it into a horror movie when I tear apart my blue Max model 🤣
@@DNAMobileGaming Odin pennywise edition 🤣🤣🏆💚👊
I have been trying to find a video to help me install my Sakura buttons but their video is too fast. I found another tutorial but that video was also too fast.
Your pace is a lot better and easier to follow than the other 2 videos. Thank you.
Hey you're welcome, sorry if my voice is to loud I'm working on my mic settings again after I just did an SSD upgrade and fresh install of Windows lol on my dektop. So I hope this helps, I am planning another teardown of my Blue Max next week which will be more comfortable. I'm going to take close up pictures while doing it. But glad this helped, I have years of experience tearing small stuff down and putting it back together.
More videos like this please.
More videos like this are coming I promise!
I was actually on the process of turning my black Odin 2 into a white one, but noticed that the buttons I bought from AYN directly are missing the Power button and the 2 buttons on the back. Where did you get those from?
I think they just threw them in I think they just had extras or something.
Damn, I hate clips with a vengeance... Why do they design most devices to be a pain in the arse to open nowadays? It isn't necessary as proven by countless other devices not needing clips to stay together. That's what the screws are for...
I just wanted to flip the ABXY buttons around to non-Nintendo layout but this seems to much of a pain.
Great guide though, thanks!
The clips aren't really that bad, the reason they need clips is so the plastic doesn't collapse in on itself and holds together even without screws. It's extra support, but again these clips are not nearly as bad as other devices. The Odin 2 all together is really the easiest device I've ever taken apart and trust me I've taken apart phones from the iPhone 3/Samsung Galaxy S2 all the way up to the Note 8 apart. Heck I've even ripped apart laptops that are more of a pain and my Ally is also sort of a pain to get the back plate off.
That all said, you can't simply swap the buttons btw you have to order custom ones like Sakura Retro Modding buttons.
@@DNAMobileGaming I took devices apart that didn't need clips while also having such rounded shells. There are ways to do it without clips. I also had laptops with very similar backplates where one manufacturer used clips and the other didn't.
Even using tools it happened that clips broke off.
Of cause Smartphones are a whole other level of pain to take apart by design. In the end it always comes down to design and manufacturers clearly design devices to be hard to take apart and not because it is necessary.
Good to know that you can't swap the buttons. Would have been very annoying to find out after taking it apart. I know lot's of controllers are designed like this, where the buttons have different "noses" and can't be put into different spots. If the buttons are exactly the same besides these noses, it's a stupid design. Do the buttons for the Odin have a different design? Can't really tell from the outside or the storefront pictures.
I would never be able to take something like this apart but its cool watching you do it! ❤
It was a task and then some now I can't wait to rip apart the Retroid 4 Pro when it shows up 😁
I would and did many times, but would be cursing constantly. Clips, clued on stuff you have to loosen with a heat gun and so on are rage inducing.
plz turn DOWN UR INPUT THRESHOLD OR OSMTHN I AM BEIN YELED AT
Hey are you listening via headphones?
@@DNAMobileGaming yes, I agree, this video definitely has some sound distortion. And yes, I am listening with earbuds. The OP could have said it nicer, but keep an ear out for your next video and good luck 👍 love your content
Im nervous taking apart to switch my face buttons.
I plan to do a picture and another video guide, now that I know what I'm getting into it's really not as scary to be truthfully honest. The only thing that is the scary part is the volume and power button which isn't really necessary to change. The right side was the easier side too I didn't realize I'd be starting with the hard side of the device when I opened it up lol. But I feel more confident doing it again which I will definitely in the near future for the Blue Max model!
Sweet looking 👍🏼
Do you have a fix for the black lines on the Odin 2? One week into owning device there are visible black horizontal lines across the screen anyone else seen this?
You should contact Ayn if you didn't drop it or put pressure on the screen by placing it in your pocket or a case that it didn't fit in properly then you should have a replacement warranty.
Looks great!
So there are many of us wondering...
Can we upgrade an odin 1 with odin 2 mobo/ chipset? I bought my odin pro about a year ago and have lots of regret when this one was revealed
Do you mean can you swap the internals from the 2 to the 1?
@@DNAMobileGaming yes that is my question
great vid thanks for the guide, am thinking of modding my white odin 2 with black buttons all around my question is do i really need to remove fan and battery to do that?
Hey from what I remember no, you should have to the only reason I did was to see the guts. I am doing another teardown which will be more experienced since I know what I'm getting into this time plus I'll be sharing an Ifixit guide set of pictures.
Ya don't forget those 4 screws if you have any left something ain't right 😂 I wonder who said that beautiful thing looked like an oreo addition 🤔 I love it I do have a couple pairs of Jordan oreo additions really dose looks like a oreo addition and after all the oreos I did go to the store and get some oreos and 🥛 😂 the yellow ones are my favorite to eat
Anyway we can change to battery ourselves? Do a guide perhaps?
If you can find a battery with the same connection perhaps mind you I do have a full tear down guide coming.
@@DNAMobileGaming I heard the only way now is to send your device back to AYN. Biggest concern here is them needing us to factory reset 😱, I hope not
@gatacca I might just buy this battery to confirm if it's the same Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!

@@DNAMobileGaming awesome! You da man! Videos soon! 😁💪
I'm curious is the Internal SSD Storage drive upgradable on the Odin 2?
Not unless you know how to do some micro soldering to swap the UFS storage I wouldn't recommend it.
@@DNAMobileGaming Fair enough, thanks for the quick reply!
Ah man this is satisfying, great job! You're one bad dude (in the good way :p)
can you please tell me, is it easy to take off the front panel ?
No the front display would require lots of heat and patience
The video should be "button mod installation" , not teardown.
I guess that's true however I did do a button mod install video after. I still have to edit my 3 part full teardown which might be something I release the middle of May.
a question friend, can I change the hard drive to this console and put a larger memory in it, can it help?
You can buy a larger version it's not like a Windows handheld where you can upgrade the NVME for example. So no not recommended also the 8 GB model is way more than good enough just add a 512gb Micro SD and you're good to go.
@@DNAMobileGaming I have the Ayin Odyn Pro version with 16 GB RAM and 512 hard drive.
@conosebostonma8212 lol well if you count virtual Ram then yes 😜 we can add up to 8gb virtual ram if Smart enough. I think they meant can we physically do this though 🧐
Is an aftermarket battery for this available?
I have yet to find one I should investigate this mind you I've yet to find issues with mine but it would be nice if there was issues to just replace it with an Amazon purchase.
Where you get those buttons?
There's a link in the description 😁
Nice, oreos
I want Oreos now
