2024 here!
Amazing features.
I'm from FM broadcasting area, so, add MPX processing, RDS and similar features would be incredible.
Great project.
Yeah man... holy heck... what a life saver... lol. Thank you much for those settings on the gate.. made all the difference. I have a heart pump and its vicious on signal radiation. Cutting that down as much as possible was the goal... Achievement points!
You're very welcome!
Could you say that again? Having trouble hearing clearly, dang! Forgot to adjust my hearing aids. Good job Vince. A person can and people do study audio all their lives and still learn stuff. That's why the big studios used to charge sooo much. Now-a-days any one with a phone can create their version of music. Isn't it Awesome! I remember thinking "nothing sounds better than this 8 track". No LP hiss on those. Just terrible tape hiss and machines that seemed always be hungry for tapes.
Hope you and yours had a great vacation! Maybe we'll see you tonight/today...
Thanks for watching. We had a great trip. Ahh, you bring back memories of making mix tapes.
Great info Vince, thanks for the share!!
Thanks Colin. Maybe I could help make people getting annoyed at others typing on keyboards a thing of the past :D
Great app indeed. I use PulseEffects all the time to even out different sound levels throughout the web. And use different settings for speech and music. Typical youtube speech settings include Auto gain, compressor, mulitband compressor, crystalizer and maximizer. And even filter (if too much background noise), then adjusting playback level in pulseaudio volume control to adjust how much to feed into PE to avoid "pumping".
Wow! I must admit I haven't even managed to touch many of the functions you mention. For me it's gate, compressor and Deesser. Thank you so much for the tips, I am going to explore further now!
Wow, Eric has a challenger...... nicely done, Vince!
A challenge for troll of the year award? Challenge accepted.
How do you go about hearing your own voice to play with the microphone settings?
very nice
thankyou
Спасибо за помощь!
I'm happy to say that I now have compressor in audacity. yay -S downgrade did it. I chose and older version (with compressor). Nice!
woohoo!
fyi the "noise gate" is actually a downwards expander
Unfortunately Zoom and other apps do not pickup PulseEffects mic output as a microphone. Do you know how to address that?
you can use pulseaudio volume control and go to recording once you are in the meeting and look for the zoom one and you can set it there
if u want more info u can contact me on discord step sis#5889
There may be a few reasons for this. Since I made the video, newer (v5.0) versions of PulseEffects have moved to Pipewire. It hasn't consistently worked for me since the. Fortunately, the developers are maintaining a legacy version for PulseAudio github.com/wwmm/pulseeffects/tree/pulseaudio-legacy
Have you tried to used it with OBS? I had some problems, but I could not address it better yet
No, I haven't tried it with OBS. In fact I am very much a noob with OBS. However, I do believe that it has some of these functions built into it, though without as many options and configurability. All said, as it works separately from OBS, I believe that it should work.
Any idea how to prevent the pop at the start of audio? I only notice when I have these effects active. Very noticeable watching youtube videos at start of each video.
I'm not sure about this problem. It could have something to do with how PE is interacting with Pulseaudio. Good luck in your search for a solution!
@@sleepyeyesvince I figured it out. Effects that normalize volume up when low can cause a pop. Using auto-gain to achieve this and turning on the detect silence option will eliminate the pop.
Fedora now calls this EasyEffects.
How do I actually download it?
This is a Linux application. It should be in the repositories of most distributions. There are installation instructions on the website of the developer here github.com/wwmm/pulseeffects
@@sleepyeyesvince Anything similar for windows?
@@comkioxd Unfortunately I don't know of any similar alternatives for Windows
As all distros run fine on your NUC high time to try Gentoo then! :D :P :)
Cheers
Thanks for the reminder. Winter is coming! :-P
@@sleepyeyesvince There is another LibreOffice video waiting for you on Eric's channel!
