It's Mark Farner, the lead vocalist and lead guitar that plays the organ (keyboards) in this song, he also plays harmonica in some songs. If you watch this GFR song live you will see that Mark is singing, playing lead guitar AND then goes to the keyboards in between, he's a very multi-talented musician..

@@mikeeckel2807 Yes, I know this, but as I stated in my comment, this GFR "live version" of "Footstompin Music" on youtube it is Mark Farner that is playing the keyboards..

It's a shame that they aren't in the R&R Hall of (Shams?) Fame. Mark Farner was quite a showman back then...those long locks flowing down his back, and all of those muscles. I don't think he stood still very much while on stage.

I am 65...when I was a kid in 7th grade I was in a rock band. We started out playing bubblegum music then the older brother of the two other kids in the band brought this album to practice. We were good little catholic boys(alter boys) and got to use the chapple stage to practice on any time we wanted. There was a B3 on the stage that I was able to goof around on. I taught myself this song. Then we learned Im Your Captain, Into The Sun, and Gimme Shelter. Then I found this cool looking album at the grocery store. It was black with purple lettering. Sweet Leaf was the first song. Our band went from bubble gum to hard to early metal in about 10 months...haha

I worked most of my life working as a stagehand and back in the 70's many of these bands would pull up and bring a remote recoding truck and record the shows live. It's no longer like that today. Most if not all sound consoles have a way to record an act cold without the use of an outside truck, I miss the 70's.

Don Brewer on this album (E Pluribus Funk): "I think the band at that point, the power trio, we were at our peak ... There were not 25 takes [of the songs]; we just went in there and slammed ‘em out. Everything sounded good and the band was tight. It just worked." Now, this is how you rock !!!
I just watched your videos for STAY WITH ME and DANCING WITH MR. D and must say you two on fire.
Here are a few songs that you two will love. THE REAL ME by the Who. Make sure you follow the lyric script on this one. Many people can relate.
And the Rolling Stones closed out the Some Girls album with a song called SHATTERED. This one reminds me a bit of the Doors ode to Los Angeles in L A. Woman. Mick and the boys are in New York during the late 7o's disco era, and reporting on their observations of the current state of affairs. Jagger is about to divorce his first wife, Bianca. He is roaming the streets, reviewing the conditions typical for the city. "Big Apple people dressed in plastic bags, some kind of fashion ..." hilarious. But it is the rhythm and beat that drive this sound that I think deserves your attention. Keep going and enjoy
