Superb job on picking the songs Joe, they were (mostly) pretty enjoyable 👍but that Globetrotters one fucking SLAPPED. Shonali fit right in with the crew and I've already checked out some of her music, good stuff. Thanks everyone!
You underestimate how insanely rural it can get right outside of NYC. I say this as someone just over the northern border of Westchester, surrounded by working farms.
I was so excited when you played the Westchester County Fair jingle, they used to play that non stop on the NYC stations when I was kid, and I still remember quite a few of the lyrics, lol. 😅
Damn, George- I haven't heard that Westchester County Fair jingle in decades, yet the second it started I knew every word. 😅 Dammit- I never got to go despite being born & fully raised in NYC.
I'm infinitely amused at how Joe picked the same theme at 51:26 as in the last Show Song episode, and then asked the exact same question - ruclips.net/video/jdwzEwxiPeM/видео.html (With a different answer), and then asked the exact same thing about the UZI book pun - ruclips.net/video/jdwzEwxiPeM/видео.html
I got a few recommendations if you haven’t featured them yet. Themes to… Starblazers, Ulysses 31, Bionic 6, Jason and The Wheeled Warriors, Gummi Bears. You’re welcome.
I had some Denver VHS tapes. And yes, that theme kicks ass. The show was basically Encino Man if the Cali skaters found a dinosaur that talked like Scooby Doo instead of Brendan Fraser.
It's not saying "Hey-o" at the end of "Pole Position" it is saying "Hail." Listen closely on the last one when they drive it home for you by not bifurcating the word into two syllables. "H'ail, H'ail, H'ail, H'ail, Hail." 40s, 50s, 60s, street racing culture lingo that was also present in 60s, 70s, and 80s drag racing. The time of the drive in movies, biker grindhouse flicks, sword and sandle epics, lots of allusions to king arthur, greek heroes, science fiction adventure characters like Crash Corrigan, and cowboys of course. It's not a weird illuminati thing, young folks, just racing talk. "Hail the winner." "Hail, hail, the winner of the race, team pole position! (also where you get that phrasing of "team _____" if I'm not mistaken. The driver and his mechanics.) I understand that if you look up lyrics online it will say "Hey-o" lyrics online are often totally guessed at. This is one of those.
Shonali's childhood experiences with freak shows uniquely prepared her for this show!
🤣🤣
My kid always skips the intro when he streams cartoons and I'm like "dude that's the best part."

This version of Care Bears theme song was sung by John Sebastian who did the Welcome Back Kotter as well

Anybody keeping track of the massive number of apologies Joe racked up in this episode?

Neat, sweet, a groovy song, you're invited come along!

Everytime, Baby…!

Oh, Joe you're the BEST!! I'm about 99% sure that I taught myself to whistle while watching the original Globetrotters cartoon on Saturday mornings.

The Reverend Horton Heat cover of Jonny Quest theme is an all timer
It's gonna blow Joe's mind that the Ace Ventura cartoon had a crossover episode with The Mask cartoon.

Love how little Joe pays attention to SMC despite it being such a fun show.
Johnny Quest is great except for the episode, "Pursuit of Poyo". I think that's the name. Super racist. It's like a MAGA propaganda film
Shatter has 2 t's .... shat is the past tense of shit.
That's the joke
@@FoundFootageFest Personally, I like that there's both "shat" and "turd" in Shaturday. Because I'm 12.
Talk about lacking wit
