Tbh it's a 50-50. Tanks do need near constant healing to survive in the high damage state of the game, their whole purpose is to soak cooldowns after all, but they also need to utilise cover, know when to retreat and how to min-max their abilities to ensure effectiveness. It's also known that the team who's tank lives longest is the team that wins the game. We've gotta approach this with the mentality that they're actually tanks tho, not bruisers. There's a big difference between the two. Something that ow2 devs are slowly figuring out considering the patch notes for next season. So maybe next season we'll finally figure out if Ow2 tanks are actually tanks or just bruisers lol.
The most frustrating part about watching this isn't even the trash positioning, it's the awful targeting decisions. This guy is constantly tickling the other tank while all of the squishies are right there for him to delete, including supports healing the other tank.
Yeah and those same tanks will flame their dps because they have more damage then them even though they’re getting no kills just unloading into the tank.
I'm glad that Emongg started yelling about the Reaper on cart, because this tank was tunnel visioning on the enemy tank the entire game even when there were squishier targets right in front of them and I thought no one was gonna bring it up.
His aim sucks. You see it on Zarya. He only targeted the Dva because that's all he can reliably hit. Even when pocketed he ignores the supports healing her and focuses on Dva.
Yes this is the worst part of her gameplay. Once she got the tank back and gained space instead of using that, she just kept pushing into being surrounded by the enemy.
There's nothing more annoying then trying to keep your tank alive and instead of them just backing off for a second, they decide to stand in front of a Bap Window with a turret Bastion and then scream at you for not healing.
Yeah. Support healing the Zarya and she's at 20% and rather than stay behind the cart for another few seconds rushes back in and dies. The supports thinking do I de-prioritize this suicidal tank and focus on the team members that are better at the game or fully commit to 95% pocket the idiot to try to save the game.
Sometimes it's best to just let the bad player die, maybe they will learn from it. But considering the ego here.... that's never gonna happen. It's like that bastion player, who kept blaming their Reinhardt, when they were scared of taking a 1v1 with a Moira.

Yeah, Flats always pissed me off with how mean he is to people. Anytime he gives advice, he's like "wait, why am I trying to help?" He also uses the same insult over and over "you have the aim of an avocado." Emongg is awesome. Great dude, loves helping, fun to watch.

I love how they took cover or backed up when they had to heal themselves on hog, but on JQ and Zarya, they had their W key taped down and got mad when their supports couldn’t reach them😂
I think it's partly since as hog and with the mindset that the breather is all your heals, the player is strongly aware of how much healing they have to use. Generally I think the problem that was obvious was the silver thinking that dying meant they didn't get healed and that as long as they're getting healed they won't die

Yep. Best when you can coordinate with a Mei to pull and then wall them off. I mean, sometimes you gotta force a tank to take cover and be healed, even if you've got to MAKE the cover lol
Here's a tip for tanks to get healed: don't stand in the middle of the open and in front of the payload. You're eating damage of 5 enemies, no healer will help you. Especially when you're in front of the payload blocking line of sight with them. They need to see you to heal you. And if they try to heal you they have to get out on the open and they'll be dead before they get to you.
I feel like tanks and highly mobile DPS get tunnel vision and expect heals when they're all over the map or out of position and then blame you for bad planning on their part - I have other players I need to help, too! I'm also a new/inexperienced player, so positioning, traversing the map, and getting from player to player is more difficult for me. It kills me when people don't group up or fall back so I can heal everyone up more easily and we can focus our damage on the enemy. I'm more than happy to admit I'm not great but don't put the blame on me when there are numerous things you did wrong yourself... I can be constantly healing someone but they'll walk straight into the LOS of the full enemy team with no cover and they'll die and take me with them. How the hell am I supposed to play around that and how the hell do you expect to get any wins that way?
I love how the hog killed the sig and you could see they had the mercy beam on them and instead of going for the mercy right after to prevent the res they just turn to someone else and let mercy res the sigma the hog just killed 😂
The best advice here is remember that you can't outheal the damage no matter how much your supports are healing you, if you go 1v5 you will always get killed even if you're getting pocketed by your supports. Always have LOS in mind and don't spam your bubbles just because, that is how you get killed.

Seriously, that makes me ick so much that Zarya decided to go different path with the orb, but they had the audacity to call out her supports. The supports were supporting them since the very beginning, but sadly their own brain can't make right decision.
Bit painful, that one. Like, I don't get why they went from Zarya to JQ. That's two tanks with tricky cooldown management and low hp pools, something this player isn't too good with.
It makes sense why he says he can play every tank except Winston. He plays all tanks exactly the same. And Winston is the one that's going to suffer the most with that playstyle.
this comment made me chuckle because I played a game last night where friendly Hanzo was quite low and asked for healing, which is perfectly reasonable. what prevented them from surviving was how, instead of turning away from the multiple enemies shooting at them to try to get to cover, they stayed exactly where they were and continued to take more damage than could be outhealed and died lol
I'm rarely playing ranked (only occasionally to get my points for golden guns), and yeah, in gold, this video is like how my games as support are. Tank feeding and blaming supports for not healing while we are pumping them non stop. Every. Single. Game. There's a reason why I'm not playing a lot of ranked.

I haven't played a ton of tank, but I have played enough this season to actually place (this is huge for me lol), and I placed in silver 1. every single tank in gold and below who thinks they're not getting healed enough isn't paying attention. there may be individual games where you get actual dps supports (and in gold and below, that's usually not going to end well for anyone), but for the most part, you get SO much healing as a tank lol supports pump almost all their resources into the tank. as a tank who definitely needs the extra help, I love it, I'm not going to lie, but as a support main in a significantly higher rank on my main role, I know they're healing me way too much lol
I think the main reason why they could push so well was Mei. The CC secured a lot of kills around the cart, and the walls forced a lot of Mei + Hog + Support vs 1. In the last push this was really relevant. Zarya and Reaper got seperated a lot and Widows line of sight was broken a lot. This format would be interesting from a support point of view. So you see how much heal you get, when you break line of sight, for how long and how the support could have won the teamfight if he was not healing all the time.
“I’m not getting healed. Better swap to a brawl tank that really needs a lot of healing.”-this tank probably. Also, as Emongg pointed out, it’s not like they’re not getting healed. But if I’m playing tank (and I’m no expert tank, mind you) and I feel like I’m not getting enough healing, I switch to a tank I feel more confident with, that I feel will give me better survivability. Because that tank (for me) is Sigma, it often forces me to think more about my positioning, as opposed to when I play my more “active” tanks like DVA or JQ.
In silver i often get tanks like this. Not all the time of course. But with tank being the way it is, and people playing like this. I refuse to rely on my tank at all.
Same, I'm a support main trying to climb out of silver and I've learned that the best thing I can do to help my team out with tanks like this is to let them die if they try and 1 v 5 or over extend.
honestly, that will help you build good support habits. I learned to stop expecting help from my team AKA expecting them to read my mind and have an above-silver understanding of their role, my role, and the game as a whole, and that's how I climbed out of silver back in the day.

I'm in diamond and let me tell you... it still happens here. I had a JQ complain about not being healed while she ran in 1v4 while both supports were respawning. The tank then switched to rein and dove in and complained that Ana/Mercy didn't heal him while he was 1. in their backline and 2. Behind a sigma shield he fell over in 3 seconds and died, while flaming supports the entire game.
A big problem is the constant brawls with the other tank, they’re just feeding the enemy supports, ult charge. Surely they could split the healers’ focus more by targeting the DPS and/or Support players and then focusing the tank once their back line is finished.
I feel like Tanks have the problem where some games they get double pocketed and just run over the enemy team, which causes them to get a massive ego that makes them lose when they aren't getting double pocketed in games.

He's on Hog, gets Sigma ulted, and instead of using Breather to mitigate a bunch of damage from the fall, he instead uses it after to heal back a portion of what he lost. And meanwhile he was pretty low and could have been burst down if the other team had been coordinated.
Also, LOL at a tank player who seems to think it's their job to just fight the enemy tank. Why do SOOOO many tank players get sucked into that tank versus tank battle mindset when that enemy tank will NEVER die as long as the rest of their team is up? They'd be MUCH more valuable helping to kill the squishier non tank targets and only focus the enemy tank when either 1) a significant amount of the enemy team is dead, or 2) the enemy tank has clearly fucked up and has made themselves super vulnerable to being picked off.
Are we not going to talk about the 5% hook accuracy? At least he was consistently late... as in he kept aiming where they were, with a projectile (projectiles take time to travel, LOL)
From my mmr wild travel having a mixture of diamond to gold teammates, I, a main Ana was asked from a Rammatra to not heal dps and let them get health packs and wondered why I had dmg as “healer” No needed to say we won the game with him being dead like 60% of the time, going nemesis mode at the pure Leroy Jenkins style
Ana main here, I will say that even as a support who can heal long distance, put an enemy to sleep, and anti-heal and heal roughly 100 HP if I throw the bio well from where I am compared to you.. even I can't save someone like this from their own stupidity. Especially if I'm reloading and trying to help keep everyone else from dying :| Watching this person's positioning just gave me an aneurism, no walls to block damage, no terrain to rotate around and disorient enemies, all the way in the open just eating shots..

When the matches are close, it at least feels like my effort made a difference and if things had been slightly different, it could’ve been a win, but getting stomped while having double the elims and half the deaths of my teammates will always hurt.
2things that stood out to me were illaris will have there pylon on the hold or choke so if your out of range between it and the enemies you cannot expect heals bc you are not with your team anymore and illaris or support in general have the best idea where the team is for many reasons 2was his focus of the enemy tank and not trying to pull the squishies to the front line instead just focusing the tank
I appreciate that when you give feed back there is very little "you need to land hooks" or "you need to aim better" because comments like that are obvious and don't really add anything

Im only 9 minutes in snd the 2nd round is just starting, but some big things I'm also seeing that do not involve a healer issue are: Cooldowns aren't being managed properly and theres no real value in them. For example on Junker Queen I'm seeing a lot of Gracie and Carbage just being used and nothing is getting hit. Gracie is being DM'd and it just comes back. Gotta use it to pull someone into Carnage (you can cancel Gracie into Carnage as a combo), then get that pick and peel the enemy away from fhe team. Carnage is being swung and not connecting at all. There's also already been multiple occasions of just running by squishies and focusing the tank when you could have gotten an elim and potentially won the fight, but focusing the tank while NOT getting the elim is just fueling their support ults. Also gotta work on the aim a bit, seems like you're getting a bit too flustered and you're all over the place. Calm down, focus, and take your time on hitting your shots. Sorry for the rant, i feel a lot like Emong and wanna help and not roast lol 😅
Ya when I'm tanking I feel like it's important to keep the tanks attention while targeting a healer. Sometimes just letting healers know you will shoot them will totally change the dynamics of the fight.
First of all, RIGHT AWAY, they walk in a straight line towards a hanzo, it does matter what rank they are, that hanzo is going to be in bliss from how much your feeding him, Zarya is also one of the “weakest” tanks, while she is a lot smaller than most tanks she can still be shredded by focus fire, besides if your bubbling yourself a ton your not playing her right, the bubble is basically a dollar store cleanse, you should be looking at your frontline as much as the enemy team, she actually works very nicely with genji, she can give dives alittle more survivability while also charging her beam, and finally, it’s important to cycle your bubbles, you should never be spamming them back to back unless you can secure picks.
Pretty common for the low ranks, they over rely on healing to enable their bad positioning. That's why it went better for them on Hog because now you have two supports + Hog healing to keep them up while they stand out in the open taking tons of damage. Also they don't seem the know the map cause there was at least a couple times they could of gotten healh packs to stay alive and didn't even try. Target prio needs work too, they're hyper focused on the tank when they had some easy picks on the Mercy and other squishy targets. Hog is great at denying rez but they never did that
Watching this as a support main is so cathartic bc all the tanks I've had that complain abt "no heals" meanwhile I'm trying to pocket them until I realise they're useless and focus my energy on dps who can make good plays
Honesty it's just the philosophy that: " If you NEED a healer pocket at all times to win, then youre not playing well."

An underrated advantage of LW is you can pull your tank out before they do something stupid. Sometimes you have to save them from themselves.

Seriously, that makes me ick so much that Zarya decided to go different path with the orb, but they had the audacity to call out her supports. The supports were supporting them since the very beginning, but sadly their own brain can't make right decision.
Bit painful, that one. Like, I don't get why they went from Zarya to JQ. That's two tanks with tricky cooldown management and low hp pools, something this player isn't too good with.
It makes sense why he says he can play every tank except Winston.

i played with so many tanks and soldiers who are like that. standing in the open getting shredded by the entire team "I NEED HEALS"
this comment made me chuckle because I played a game last night where friendly Hanzo was quite low and asked for healing, which is perfectly reasonable. what prevented them from surviving was how, instead of turning away from the multiple enemies shooting at them to try to get to cover, they stayed exactly where they were and continued to take more damage than could be outhealed and died lol
It goes worse, I got tanks who dive behind walls and said: I need heal.

I'm rarely playing ranked (only occasionally to get my points for golden guns), and yeah, in gold, this video is like how my games as support are. Tank feeding and blaming supports for not healing while we are pumping them non stop.

I haven't played a ton of tank, but I have played enough this season to actually place (this is huge for me lol), and I placed in silver 1. every single tank in gold and below who thinks they're not getting healed enough isn't paying attention. there may be individual games where you get actual dps supports (and in gold and below, that's usually not going to end well for anyone), but for the most part, you get SO much healing as a tank lol supports pump almost all their resources into the tank. as a tank who definitely needs the extra help, I love it, I'm not going to lie, but as a support main in a significantly higher rank on my main role, I know they're healing me way too much lol

That was certainly some tank gameplay we saw. It looked like they were haphazardly pressing all their buttons whenever they had them
I think the main reason why they could push so well was Mei. The CC secured a lot of kills around the cart, and the walls forced a lot of Mei + Hog + Support vs 1. In the last push this was really relevant. Zarya and Reaper got seperated a lot and Widows line of sight was broken a lot.
This format would be interesting from a support point of view. So you see how much heal you get, when you break line of sight, for how long and how the support could have won the teamfight if he was not healing all the time.
“I’m not getting healed. Better swap to a brawl tank that really needs a lot of healing.”-this tank probably.
Also, as Emongg pointed out, it’s not like they’re not getting healed. But if I’m playing tank (and I’m no expert tank, mind you) and I feel like I’m not getting enough healing, I switch to a tank I feel more confident with, that I feel will give me better survivability. Because that tank (for me) is Sigma, it often forces me to think more about my positioning, as opposed to when I play my more “active” tanks like DVA or JQ.
This tank had many opportunities to easily kill the enemy mercy but ignored them 😂

In silver i often get tanks like this. Not all the time of course. But with tank being the way it is, and people playing like this. I refuse to rely on my tank at all.
Same, I'm a support main trying to climb out of silver and I've learned that the best thing I can do to help my team out with tanks like this is to let them die if they try and 1 v 5 or over extend.
honestly, that will help you build good support habits. I learned to stop expecting help from my team AKA expecting them to read my mind and have an above-silver understanding of their role, my role, and the game as a whole, and that's how I climbed out of silver back in the day.

Personally I had a problem with the Zarya not bubbling their teammates enough; the Reaper was up front with them and they just didn’t bubble Reaper

I'm in diamond and let me tell you... it still happens here. I had a JQ complain about not being healed while she ran in 1v4 while both supports were respawning. The tank then switched to rein and dove in and complained that Ana/Mercy didn't heal him while he was
1. in their backline
and
2. Behind a sigma shield
he fell over in 3 seconds and died, while flaming supports the entire game.

A big problem is the constant brawls with the other tank, they’re just feeding the enemy supports, ult charge. Surely they could split the healers’ focus more by targeting the DPS and/or Support players and then focusing the tank once their back line is finished.

He's on Hog, gets Sigma ulted, and instead of using Breather to mitigate a bunch of damage from the fall, he instead uses it after to heal back a portion of what he lost. And meanwhile he was pretty low and could have been burst down if the other team had been coordinated.
Also, LOL at a tank player who seems to think it's their job to just fight the enemy tank. Why do SOOOO many tank players get sucked into that tank versus tank battle mindset when that enemy tank will NEVER die as long as the rest of their team is up? They'd be MUCH more valuable helping to kill the squishier non tank targets and only focus the enemy tank when either 1) a significant amount of the enemy team is dead, or 2) the enemy tank has clearly fucked up and has made themselves super vulnerable to being picked off.
Are we not going to talk about the 5% hook accuracy?

From my mmr wild travel having a mixture of diamond to gold teammates, I, a main Ana was asked from a Rammatra to not heal dps and let them get health packs and wondered why I had dmg as “healer”
No needed to say we won the game with him being dead like 60% of the time, going nemesis mode at the pure Leroy Jenkins style
Ana main here, I will say that even as a support who can heal long distance, put an enemy to sleep, and anti-heal and heal roughly 100 HP if I throw the bio well from where I am compared to you.. even I can't save someone like this from their own stupidity. Especially if I'm reloading and trying to help keep everyone else from dying :| Watching this person's positioning just gave me an aneurism, no walls to block damage, no terrain to rotate around and disorient enemies, all the way in the open just eating shots..

@@spacejesus6581Tbf though, I’ve had matches where I was the only one really getting anything done that ended up being hard losses. When the matches are close, it at least feels like my effort made a difference and if things had been slightly different, it could’ve been a win, but getting stomped while having double the elims and half the deaths of my teammates will always hurt.
As a support main wallowing away in High silver/ low gold, this provided much needed catharsis. Thank you.
2things that stood out to me were illaris will have there pylon on the hold or choke so if your out of range between it and the enemies you cannot expect heals bc you are not with your team anymore and illaris or support in general have the best idea where the team is for many reasons

One thing I definitely notice a lot is tanks targeting each other and not focusing the healer supporting the enemy tank...
Im only 9 minutes in snd the 2nd round is just starting, but some big things I'm also seeing that do not involve a healer issue are: Cooldowns aren't being managed properly and theres no real value in them. For example on Junker Queen I'm seeing a lot of Gracie and Carbage just being used and nothing is getting hit. Gracie is being DM'd and it just comes back. Gotta use it to pull someone into Carnage (you can cancel Gracie into Carnage as a combo), then get that pick and peel the enemy away from fhe team. Carnage is being swung and not connecting at all.
There's also already been multiple occasions of just running by squishies and focusing the tank when you could have gotten an elim and potentially won the fight, but focusing the tank while NOT getting the elim is just fueling their support ults.
Also gotta work on the aim a bit, seems like you're getting a bit too flustered and you're all over the place. Calm down, focus, and take your time on hitting your shots.

Ya when I'm tanking I feel like it's important to keep the tanks attention while targeting a healer. Sometimes just letting healers know you will shoot them will totally change the dynamics of the fight.

First of all, RIGHT AWAY, they walk in a straight line towards a hanzo, it does matter what rank they are, that hanzo is going to be in bliss from how much your feeding him, Zarya is also one of the “weakest” tanks, while she is a lot smaller than most tanks she can still be shredded by focus fire, besides if your bubbling yourself a ton your not playing her right, the bubble is basically a dollar store cleanse, you should be looking at your frontline as much as the enemy team, she actually works very nicely with genji, she can give dives alittle more survivability while also charging her beam, and finally, it’s important to cycle your bubbles, you should never be spamming them back to back unless you can secure picks.
Pretty common for the low ranks, they over rely on healing to enable their bad positioning. That's why it went better for them on Hog because now you have two supports + Hog healing to keep them up while they stand out in the open taking tons of damage. Also they don't seem the know the map cause there was at least a couple times they could of gotten healh packs to stay alive and didn't even try. Target prio needs work too, they're hyper focused on the tank when they had some easy picks on the Mercy and other squishy targets. Hog is great at denying rez but they never did that

Watching this as a support main is so cathartic bc all the tanks I've had that complain abt "no heals" meanwhile I'm trying to pocket them until I realise they're useless and focus my energy on dps who can make good plays
