Thanks. I've had the Cloud UP 2 for 3 years, and I loved that tent. It is very big for a one person tent, and I never had issues with touching the sidewalls when sleeping. I am now considering buying the Cloud Up 1, since that should be big enough and it is important for me to reduce the weight (cause I am bikepacking). I do like the Mongar, but I think with all the mesh, in fall and spring, it will be chilly, but for sure it looks like the Mongar has excellent ventilation. And do love that dark blue color on both of these, very nice ! Cheers.

I think the best would be the star river, but to really compare these tents you need to peg them out, for example the cloud needs the sides attached to the fly and pegged out to see the space inside, the vestibule is probably bigger than you expect when pegged out, same with the mongar, but the cloud would be the most different when pegged. the star river is basically the same as the mongar but has a narrower center bar, taller inside and fabric up the sides of the inner, being superior in wind for warmth. All good tents no matter which you decide =)

Thanks for the input that is really good to know. I was thinking the same about attaching the wall of the of the cloud up 2 to the fly but I did not see anything there to attach, is that in a upgraded version? Or did I just miss it?

@@brianmueller5713 I see the loop on the side, on the fly it is directly behind the lower side rope attachment and clips onto the inner tent with either a loop in the fabric or a clip

@@brianmueller5713 all cloud up tents have them except the 10D version where I assume it was removed for weight reasons

The upgraded cloud up 2 would be a better comparison with the mongar

I'm sleeping in my cloud up 2 tonight. got the guy lines set up and there's plenty of room for myself and my pack inside the tent with me sleeping on a klymit static V. I got the version with the skirt on the fly so I can use it in the cold season of Kentucky. Surprisingly, I noticed the zipper on the tent has done a good job at not getting caught on any fabric, which is a problem I expected to have as a trade off for having such a cheap tent. At a glance on their website the Mongar seems a couple pounds heavier though, which is something to considerable for some hikers/backpackers.

That's great to hear and thanks for the comment! I am super bumber I did not notice the guide lines on the inner tent, that is why I did not like it. I am sure if I had tried that I would have thought twice about returning it for the mongar

Cloud up 2 gets too hot in Summer and cramped. The mongar gets too cold in Winter. For an inexpensive tent maybe look at the Star river ultralight -new model comes in grey (whitish) and a tan color. Not perfect but from first look a way better option.
