How to hot wire cut foam planes

Some basics on hot wire cutting and some tips that I found handy when starting out.
excellent video
Cloud up 2 gets too hot in Summer and cramped. The mongar gets too cold in Winter. For an inexpensive tent maybe look at the Star river ultralight -new model comes in grey (whitish) and a tan color. Not perfect but from first look a way better option.
Thanks. I've had the Cloud UP 2 for 3 years, and I loved that tent. It is very big for a one person tent, and I never had issues with touching the sidewalls when sleeping. I am now considering buying the Cloud Up 1, since that should be big enough and it is important for me to reduce the weight (cause I am bikepacking). I do like the Mongar, but I think with all the mesh, in fall and spring, it will be chilly, but for sure it looks like the Mongar has excellent ventilation. And do love that dark blue color on both of these, very nice ! Cheers.
Thank you
thanks for this! exactly what i was looking for
try pccf from Prusa. Very durable because of PolyCarbonate, Very Easy to print because of the PETG blend, and very stiff because of the Carbon Fibre!!
This video had me cheering for the Mongar 2, very happy with the end result
I'm sleeping in my cloud up 2 tonight. got the guy lines set up and there's plenty of room for myself and my pack inside the tent with me sleeping on a klymit static V. I got the version with the skirt on the fly so I can use it in the cold season of Kentucky. Surprisingly, I noticed the zipper on the tent has done a good job at not getting caught on any fabric, which is a problem I expected to have as a trade off for having such a cheap tent. At a glance on their website the Mongar seems a couple pounds heavier though, which is something to considerable for some hikers/backpackers.
That's great to hear and thanks for the comment! I am super bumber I did not notice the guide lines on the inner tent, that is why I did not like it. I am sure if I had tried that I would have thought twice about returning it for the mongar
The upgraded cloud up 2 would be a better comparison with the mongar
I think the best would be the star river, but to really compare these tents you need to peg them out, for example the cloud needs the sides attached to the fly and pegged out to see the space inside, the vestibule is probably bigger than you expect when pegged out, same with the mongar, but the cloud would be the most different when pegged. the star river is basically the same as the mongar but has a narrower center bar, taller inside and fabric up the sides of the inner, being superior in wind for warmth. All good tents no matter which you decide =)
Thanks for the input that is really good to know. I was thinking the same about attaching the wall of the of the cloud up 2 to the fly but I did not see anything there to attach, is that in a upgraded version? Or did I just miss it?
@@brianmueller5713 I see the loop on the side, on the fly it is directly behind the lower side rope attachment and clips onto the inner tent with either a loop in the fabric or a clip
@@brianmueller5713 all cloud up tents have them except the 10D version where I assume it was removed for weight reasons
Darn I really wish I had noticed that before returning it! Thanks for the input
Oh man so confused..lol may hit a little snow, car camping mostly, and want to maybe explore an overnight bkpack.
whao!
i love peak wings thanks
wonderful! is it true?
That's pretty cool!
like this for no spoilers 👍
is that safe?

That really turned out nicely.
i don t think he knows what he id doing !
Would you be into farming? Asking for a friend

Yes
not sure id be comfortable using a fork never designed for those sort of loads but hey if it works it works!
That's a beefy fork, I've seen people folded their vintage road bike fork.
Working on same project bruhhh, some way the video helped i guesss
Learnt a lot in this video ! Super cool process
Ok
Interested to see if that holds up! Feeling good
itll never hold up no way
Lmk if you have any more tips for us @cosmefulanito5933 @greenrolaids
There's no way I would have welded that rear stay, the heat profile is (IMO) way too agressive. Those cromo tubes are super thin and you have no idea how much is left on the inside after umpty years of humidity accumulating. When I did my Sunn (1998 Urge Comp), I brazed it and then retempered the heat affected areas. It's also good practice to brace the seat stay to the chain stay, the majority of the braking force is applied to the heat affected zone at the top of your disk mount, and those seat stays aren't meant to take that sort of load. The first bike I did, an early '90s decathlon which uses tubes nowhere near as light as the Sunn has, folded exactly there under braking. On the other hand, it left me with some bits of small diameter tube to brace the Sunn's brake mount with, so there's that. No photos of the decthlon, but a few of the Sunn here : imgur.com/a/JRWg1Ls
pretty awesome video i might try this tbh
Go for it!
same. i stopped watching when the music kicked in.
Music too loud. You talk too low.
Thanks for the input! Apparent it
Cool. I like your videos
Would you please share the dimensions? I'd love to make a wing like this! Indestructible... I'd like to put that to the test!
nice job! lots of little tips in here that arent well covered in other videos
