At tonight's Prayer Group Meeting at my Church I will pray to Jesus and ask HIM to Bless the hard working folks from Complete Exteriors along with their families, as well as Yawt and his family! What a terrific, professional job they did, and this beautiful roof will protect Yawt's family and keep them dry, and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. God Bless y'all!

Looks good, and it's done right when a crew like that gets done.
Ya kept talking about your ridge vent. Two-thirds of this Republic have no idea about that, not used and most cooler climate area codes won't allow it, just the "whirly birds" you called them, or the flat vents. Allows to much heat out, to much cold air in, while trying to heat. Blowing snow, another problem.
Good content, doubtful most have seen what you showed and explained, and a lot have never seen a job like that done in 8 hours, including lunch time. I loved our two roofers and their crews when I was doing the subs and companies scheduling.

I'm impressed with the speed, professionalism and careful detailing of their craftsmanship. We had our roof put on a few years ago and have similar protection against leaks, water issues and they guaranteed their work for five years against leaks and emergency repairs. I enjoyed watching the guys work on the roof! David, you did an excellent job promoting Complete Exteriors, the roofing business and I certainly hope they will get many more businesses!

I've worked in roofing for many years. The old 3-tab shingles have a flat look, blow off easily in the wind and the best warranty you can get is a 25 year warranty. Architectural shingles come with a limited lifetime warranty (for as long as you own the house) and most roofers off a 5-year workmanship warranty (our is 10-year).
The foam cushions help keep the roofers from sliding down roof, more than just to cushion them. When we see and old couch on the curb, we nab the cushions!
Thanks for taking care of the guys and keeping them hydrated. I know they appreciated it. These folks are pros. Ice and water shield at the eaves, valley and penetrations. Well done with the OSB replacement for the decking. Typical hispanic crews - fast, efficient, hard-working. Your roofer PERFECTLY explained why we put ice and water shield at the transitions and he upgraded you from a felt to a synthetic felt. He know what he's doing. He steered you right on the ventilation issues as well. You chose your contractor well.
    Congrats on the new roof.

I'm a roofer in England. The vent releases moisture in the winter too. I bet that was why some of the boards were rotten. Because when you cook or dry clothes the moisture goes to the coldest place which would be the roof covered in snow. You're getting a proper job. Nice one.

Nice to see the different style of roof from what we see in the North Of England in the UK. We could do with some of your temperature but not the rain ?

  • @gregglynn3763

I'm not a roofer or a construction worker but common sense tells you that these guys know what they are doing!!! The new style synthetic paper, putting the ice and water shield for the crevasses on the valleys in the roof, the cricket for the chimney, the lift for moving the shingles up to the roof, and the amount of workers and the boss/owner on site really makes for a fast and efficient roof replacement. And the fact that it's all done in almost a day!! Great job!! I'm happy for you and applaud Complete Exteriors on their work!!

I had roof rot last time I roofed. I live in Atlanta and you have to have a permit to cut trees. The huge oaks did a lot of damage to our roofs. I got a roof vent for the first time and I love it yawt yawt. I told the neighbor over and over her crooked roofers needed to put one on her house and it was to late before she told them. She is crooked and let the crooked roofers take advantage of her insurance. It's so wrong and I'm glad she has a hot attic now.

Greetings Dave. Usually the apex ridge ventilation system reduces the temperature by 5 to 10 degrees depending on the humidity levels. My aunt who lived in Tennessee had a new roof installed. The ridge ventilation system was installed. She already noticed a temperature difference. She felt much more comfortable. Her average was 7 degrees difference. Hopefully you guys have some great savings. May the Lord bless you and your family.

If the electric service hadn't been attached to that board, the roofer would have been able to replace it. I think it improves the looks of a house not to have the wires attached in the air and it eliminates a source of maintenance issues down the road.

    I am from Belgium.
We are obliged to install a minimum of 12 cm (4.74 inches) of PUR plate or 20 cm of rockwool (7.87 inches) of roof insulation. I have doubts about the insulation under your roof, especially with those temperatures where you are.
Wouldn't these pur plates have been a good option to keep the house cool?
    My experience is very positive.
In any case, great of those professionals to finish the roof beautifully.

We put a ridge vent in our house, that was built in the 70’s, when we had the roof replaced a couple years ago. The house needed it badly but, man, what a mess on stuff that was stored in attic. We occasionally still pick up nails, especially coming out of gutters.

Mr Yawt, I truly believe that you should have a cap on your chimney! Keep water out and critters too. Great video!

At each end of the attic space at the A end, they used vents to exhaust heat and airflow. Nowadays ridge ventilation is more common.

David, thanks for sharing this. Those people do an amazing job. They are absolutely doing it the right way to not have to redo for a very long time. It's great that he has so many workers to get the roof done in one day. Alot of hard work. Take Carr. Love ro you and your family ❤

I used to do roofing about 40 years ago. Things have changed a lot since then. The main thing I used to do was "lace the valleys", but with these new materials it doesn't seem necessary. It looks like these guys and gals really know their work.
