Kakeru played very well throughout the top 6. While the matches weren’t one-sided, he never looked like he was in real danger before he got to the finals. Then Mena came and absolutely bodied him.

I was watching this live and I can't believe how fast and easy it is. This is like the most 1 sided GrandFinals ever in the history of fighting game ever.
You know, being in high gold I always thought I was only getting away with spamming throws to a cornered opponent because they weren't too keen on countering it, but somehow throw loops are still meta between the best players in the world. 😂
Watching two characters sit in a corner and guess throw loops isn't good game design, it's just... game design that people accept because I'm not sure why. That was a dull final, people will remember how fast it was, and the fat guy getting a belly rub, but not the match itself, which is what i wanted to see.

MenaRD correctly read that Kakeru was going to try the parry option and went for throw to counter it. It’s almost like fighting games are about reading your opponent and countering their moves accordingly. The reason why Kakeru got thrown a lot is because he kept going for his signature parry tactics (you can see how he kept getting punish counter thrown). This isn’t even to mention that JP is a ZONER and should be WEAKER at close range. Ofc JP is going to be eating mixups at close range- that’s part of what balances him out. It wouldn’t be fair for him to have great close range and zoning game at the same time, yet the way people talk about Mena’s offense you’d think they would want JP to have amazing close-range options as well…

In fact Kakeru is currently the 1st ranked player in the ranked matches.

You know, being in high gold I always thought I was only getting away with spamming throws to a cornered opponent because they weren't too keen on countering it, but somehow throw loops are still meta between the best players in the world. 😂
Its not even them being able to execute the timing of the loops, but its the Mix-up Mena does with them, its incredible.

Watching two characters sit in a corner and guess throw loops isn't good game design, it's just... game design that people accept because I'm not sure why.
That was a dull final, people will remember how fast it was, and the fat guy getting a belly rub, but not the match itself, which is what i wanted to see.
@@lostree1981 I thought the game was excellent. the fact of the loops could be nerfed? Yes. But he didn't even loop strictly, some were loops, other were throw mix ups, in the context that Kakeru is wary of the loops. Tick/throw is Street Fighter.
Was this just a choke? I'm super unfamiliar with SF and honestly struggle to keep up, but this just looked like a single player game. Did the pressure get to him or is the other guy just that much better?

wtf is going on with the fgc rn. MenaRD correctly read that Kakeru was going to try the parry option and went for throw to counter it. It’s almost like fighting games are about reading your opponent and countering their moves accordingly. The reason why Kakeru got thrown a lot is because he kept going for his signature parry tactics (you can see how he kept getting punish counter thrown).
This isn’t even to mention that JP is a ZONER and should be WEAKER at close range. Ofc JP is going to be eating mixups at close range- that’s part of what balances him out. It wouldn’t be fair for him to have great close range and zoning game at the same time, yet the way people talk about Mena’s offense you’d think they would want JP to have amazing close-range options as well…
