Thank you Lindsey for sharing such cool ideas with everyone. Was paper - who but you would realize you could use it as a wax resist!...So clever. I' do batiking on rice paper and fabric with wax and never once thought of using wax paper 'wax' side as an alternative for small detailed lines I was wanting in my work. Loves all your downloads. Thanks again.
So cool! Can't wait to show my son after school, he's only 6 but he's very imaginative and loves to craft along with me no matter what I'm doing. Thank you for sharing this.
Maybe if you colored a sheet of paper with wax (like from a white candle or canning wax) then used it as wax paper (assuming you can not get it in the UK) you will have similar results. Or you just might need to use darker watercolor so there is more contrast:)
thank you so much! i've never heard or seen anything like that wax paper resist technique. i actually exclaimed out loud, (to myself) because i was so excited with the endless possibilities. lindsay you are awesome! :)
Great technique. I've seen the resist done with embossing folders & an iron. Your way seems more to the point. I have a thing about scraps & don't like having them hanging around so I loved your tip. JIL
If like me you live somewhere where wax paper is scarce, we used to do this technique by drawing directly onto your surface with a cheap white candle, if the candle is too fat chip off a chunk and use it like a wax crayon. Lindsay, you rock and I cant get enough of your videos, carry on crafting :) ps. You have the best name in the world. With best wishes lindz (lindsay - I have to shorten my name to prevent being called mr as in england lindsay is the boys spelling or surname spelling,)
So cute, can't wait to teach my grand daughter how to do this...she is 5 but doing really well with the ink tense pencils...she is so careful and artful like her Daddy. Thanks for the cute idea. Pam
very cool.... we don´t have this stuff ( I mean wax paper in Austria unfortunately) but I hope to achieve this effect with a white Prismacolorpencil maybe or as Carolyn Staat suggested with a sharp white waxcrayon.... thank you Lindsay..your ideas are the best! I was successful with the nest aquarell tutorial.. you are the best teacher ever!
sorry.. I will post it the next days.. will tell you - maybe I try out all the watercolor tuts and bring it in one post...don#t kno yet---- had some technical trouble with my PC...
Good idea to send a secret message - Valentines ? you could put a piece of watercolour paper in the card with a message written on it and the recipient has to use watercolour to reveal message..... good for spy cards between kids too.......I think I may be getting inspired lol xxxx
huh, I didn't know that, I didn't know any Lindsays as a child and now I see a few, a lot of the time it is spelled "ey" instead of "ay" (the correct way LOL!)
I seem to have a problem whenever I apply the watercolor paint over on top. The paint seems seep into the design and so it doesn't show up well. I am doing the same steps and using the same materials. If anyone has a solution then please tell me.

yep but you might have better control with a clear blender colored pencil or a white colored pencil.
Cool technique. I 'm going to have to keep some wax paper in my craft room when it's done. So many uses for wax paper!

you can also use wax paper to sign your name on a painting before you paint it so it will show up in white in a dark area
This blew me away! What a terrific idea

Cool, going to do this with my youngest grandchildren tomorrow, so cute!!
Could you use a very sharp white crayon to make the resist web? Would that work? I love the idea, the things you could doodle and paint, what fun.
So cool!!! I love all your videos, you are so creative.

You are so amazing. Love your videos.
You're simply the best!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever tried this with a big shot machine and texture plate? I wonder it that would work?
I've jsut tried with a wax crayon...it works...although it's harder to see what you've drawn compared to your method.
awesome idea! I bet it would! I think the old fashioned way with a stylus would give you a better result tho:)
We did this using crayons. or you can even get the crayon pens to make a smaller line. I'm sure they have the crayons in the UK
Do you have to wax paper cuz I don't have any do you think I could do the web with white paint after I done the background of it

Very cool ! Gotta remember this .
huh, I didn't know that, I didn't know any Lindsays as a child and now I see a few, a lot of the time it is spelled "ey" instead of "ay" (the correct way LOL!)
will this work with watered down acrylics?
I think so;)
Hello!! What specific watercolor paper did you use? It did not turn out for me, and I tried twice!! Thanks in advance.
I don't remember but it is probably that your waxed paper isn't waxy enough
@@thefrugalcrafter thank you! It's the same brand you used 🤔
Great technique to do with smaller children. TFS
What a great idea!

try flipping over the wax paper, one side may be waxier:)
I did found a better side but he paint still seeps into he design. It doesn't come out as vivid as the spiderweb that you did.
