Whisky .com tastes the Glendronach 12 years. This single malt is matured for at least 12 years in a combination of Spanish Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose:
Sherry, sweet, spicy, fruity, caramel
The taste:
Oaky note, coffee, sherry
The finish:
Medium

I believe the 12 also has PX casks in it. The 15 is orloroso.

I sampled mine in two ways(both with drops of water):
Not letting the first dram breathe and letting the second dram breathe. Made a world of difference with how much spiciness/oakiness came through on the pallette.

If I’m not mistaken this one doesn’t have bourbon cask. It has ollorosso and px

Very nice malt, takes a little time to oxidize and subdue that ginger note which can be a little hot. This bottle really benefits you opening it and forgetting about it for a couple weeks. Unlike something like Glenfarclas 15 that will kinda lose its nose after 2 weeks still love that whisky to death though.

You are right it is dangerous. I was loving the Glendronach 15 one night until I drank too much and felt like this :~ it is a little too strong to enjoy casually. Maybe better to have a small glass after a meal.

Horst! Where did you read that this whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks?
All the info i have read says that it is PX and Oloroso exclusive.

very strong cereal note for me. but maybe thats the harsh oakiness? im a little bit dissapointed. the nose is too different to the pallet
