Trev...just back from a 2 week trip to Pattaya after 20 years. Had my son with me (his mum is Thai). I can't believe how much I've missed Pattaya. I've heard, over the years, about how much it's changed...it's bigger and all my old haunts are gone, but I found the spirit of the place hadn't changed one bit. Had my lovely farang wife with me and stayed clear of the drink. Still loved it and still got that sinking feeling when it was time to leave...I've got the missus to like it well enough to plan a January visit.
A lot of people doing the youTubing thing these days in Thailand, differnce is you've got it nailed. Informative and honest views. Love your work. Thanks Trev.
After living in Bang Chang, Bang Saray, Rayong, Pattaya, Naklua, Chang Mai, Phuket and Hua Hin...Jomtien became my favourite by far. Used to work in the high condo building you mentioned at the beginning on the corner of beach road. Many happy memories! Great content! Thank you.
Perfect timing on this video! I'm definitely planning on getting out there on my next trip and exploring the area including the night market. Thanks for another great video! 👍😎🏝
I have to agree as good as Pattaya is especially when out for a few months, Spending time in Jomtien is a nice relaxing change and a beach where you can swim in and has all the "Attractions" but in a smaller scale less overwhelming.
Great video Trev I'm hoping to come out for 3 months from December to February and was thinking of stay in jomtien as a base so great to see this video, and good look with your fat to fit challenge
Spend a lot of time in Jomtien, walking and in the evening. Watched L’Aroma being built a few months back and ate there as soon as it opened. Imo was decent food but overpriced for what I had. From what I’ve heard it’s improved a lot and they seem to be doing a few promotions in the evening. Lovely place to sit and watch for sure. Surf kitchen is good, well priced food. Very popular.
Nice eve walk around....as a potential visitor to Pattaya and surrounding areas I find these vids and comments very informative... Keep up the great work Trev and thanks again 🙏
I love the rainy season. It is cooler. Like you said Trev, when it does rain it isn’t that long. Then the water disappears pretty fast. It’s odd. This time of day is really nice. They call it “magic hour”.
Hey Trev , great video of a chilled out jomtien , I have only stayed there once in my many travels to pattaya , It was one of my first visits to Pattaya , I didn’t know any better 55555 , I stayed at the welcome plaza way down the road in jomtien, it looks so much more relaxed now ,keep up the good work buddy 🙏
Trev, concerning your comment about Pattaya beach road and higher scrutiny of the ladies of the night, I don't see much of a difference. Nighttime, there are still plenty of women all up the strip and what is also a little odd is the fact that I go jogging beach road each morning around 6am and I am getting hit on by freelancers (and an occasional ladyboy) 2 - 3 times WHILE JOGGING. I just smile, wave, and continue my run. If I was walking, I would get propositioned a whole lot more. Beach road will continue to be beach road. No complaints from me. LOL
Believe "hands down " Jomtien bch Rd be much more relaxed and attractive than Pattaya bch Rd. Thanks for the look around.😊Has been 15yrs hope to get back.
I still misses the old Pattaya during the early 2000s....now seems like I can find alot of Chinese owned food shops Soho town! Alot of new buildings coming up for the last 20 plus years..I just returned for this long holiday weekend.
I still remembered those days alot of marines pulls up on the rented jeep. Probably I was younger then, really enjoy a good nite out .. Hard Rock Cafe were my fave visiting hours bar.... Hooters all gone!
Goa has been destroyed pretty much. When I first visited Calangute, Baga and Anjuna in '87 I couldn't believe how beautiful these beaches were. I stayed in Baga in a little house for a fortnght that I rented for virtually nothing. There was a magical mystery flea market in Anjuna as well at the time; I think it was every Friday. This stretch of North Goa was one of the few places where you could relive the hippy travel era, along with Kathmandu. Unfortunately, my last visit there, which was in 2016, saw these same beaches totally overrun with tourists, mostly from elsewhere on the Subcontinent. (I arrived just pre-monsoon as well, so well after the busiest time of the year for tourists). I ended up escaping to Panjim, the little state's capital, to avoid the multitude and spent the rest of my scheduled time in Goa there. I doubt if I'll return to Goa. Kerala is better. (Kovalam beach is much better now than Calangute; but it's still overrun at certain times of the year). North Goa is another paradise lost I'm afraid, unless you like teeming crowds.
1:02 No, NO. The only approach to jetskis in Thailand should be to never - ever - rent a jetski in this country. Not worth the risk of getting assaulted, beaten up, extorted for big money and maybe even arrested by the jetski-mafias friends. Just stay away from jetskis is my advice.
Hey Trev, thanks for the recommendation a month or so back about Emily’s, excellent restaurant and food and inexpensive, been there multiple times now with the girlfriend, it’s become our go to breakfast place.
A good video. I am not familiar with Jomtien so I will have to spend more time there on my next visit. I remember when they were building all those shop-houses; I could not image them getting used - and that was just before the Asian down in 1997.
We can take more in and enjoy a little more detail when you walk Trev. It's those small snippets of info you give which are often the more interesting. Keep it up please.
Lived in the Philippines for a couple of years. Went out every night with my girls till 3, 4 or 5 o'clock - of course then sleeping till noon or later everyday LOL - been to Jomtien in January, but only at the beach - came down from Bangkok just for one day. Was nice tho.
Still too many Russians in Jomtien for me. I was recently there and was surprised at how many businesses were still closed especially when you walk up and down all the Sois. Many still have not recovered from the Plandemic. Similar to what I saw in Huan Hin and Chaing Mai.
Your video contains a lot of important information and images to organize our stay in Jomtien. I ask you please if you know the cost of taxi in the evening from Jomtien beach Road to Pattaya second Road ( central festival). I have already attended Jomtien in the past and I had a good time. Thanks and congratulations for the video
That big pizza bar opened earlier in year i think. Sat down and looked at menu. Compared to whats available on that strip a bit expensive. Owner gave me a glass of red as having a wine tasting. Sadly, i ate elsewhere. I may try them next month. Could of mentioned a few good establishments there. The pizzeria just down from aqvavit. The icecream bar further towards the night market. The night market itself. Less operating since covid sadly. And right down the bottom Pu penn seafood. Bloody excellent. Mainly thais. Surprising as priced for western wallets
10 baht bus fare 23 years ago when I started living in Pattaya the fare then was 10 baht for farang and 5 baht for Thais so odd that the 10 baht fares never increased in all that time. Hotel prices allso are cheaper now per month than 23 years ago. Shame the girls don't charge 500 baht longtime like they use to all those years ago. Jomtien use to be very tiny place I recall the first gogo bar opening there and the place had very few bars or condos. Can't belive how the area has grown.
Another real interesting walk around mate. And all that food! Wow! And cheap as chips too. Quick question. Do you often eat Indian food? Could you do a tour to include some curry houses? Prices and possibly a taste test? Personally, Chicken madras for me. ☺😚😛 cheers mucker 🍻🇬🇧
Gotta say mate I have never used a bike or taxi and visit the bars with no real issues, if you wanna hit up the Gents clubs then yeah you need transport
Where you read the menu is the most popular restaurant called the Swan - fabulous food and prices. Thanks for the video. I know the area very well and return in October. However, you missed out the Jomtien Complex near the Agate Hotel - that's a great area of bars, mainly gay which would be different for you to show 👍
A walk is always a win win in my book. Now when you reach your goal you must do one thing, you must have a slice of pizza with a bit of ketchup on it and let James know how good it is lol. If that happens he'll show you the Reflection Penthouse he secretly obtained on a couple of his walks lol.
i love durian my wife was always telling me not to eat it when i drink alcohol, i never took any notice and nothing ever happened ,it is a myth that it can kill you at worst it may cause indigestion and bloating in some people, be warned it is a marmite thing you love it or hate it, the smell puts most people off, great video trev.
Not a myth mate, many people have a bad reaction when they mix the two, me personally no, but I know at least 3 people that's sent them to the hospital
Johmtiem if spelt right trevor would be my choice always seems alot quieter but still plenty to do . Hope you're diet going well need a bit myself of reducing . 😮
Hello Mate. may I request that you do a video on the ins & outs of renting a scooter/motorbike:) It's much more fun to be on one during a visit. But we know how dangerous that can be. Some tips please. Thanks:)

Wear what you feel most comfortable in mate, personally I only ever wear trousers if I am off to a large party or event otherwise I'm a shorts all day everyday guy.
Always stay in Jomtien. Have stayed 3 times in the Condotel behind Trev at the start. It and Jomtien generally can be a bit off putting by the number of Russians. Not because of the war, but they are generally rude and arrogant. E.g. I was having a foot massage when 2 large women entered with a 5 year girl. She ran around, the women started up a noisy conversation.
15:17 the guy who asked if you from england is very clever. Indian i think. I walked past he asked the same . I shook my head and said No. He said oh kangaroo. I laughed and kept walking.
I spent a lot of time in Pattaya during the late 80s , the only reason to visit Jomtien was for the water park Pattaya Park ( does that still exist?). Other than that there was nothing up there - It is mind-blowing to see how the area has changed - Wow!

Great video Trev! It looks like Jomtien has developed into a "half speed version of Pattaya with a cleaner beach"
Absolutely mate it's okay
Jomtien is fabulous and away from the hustle and bussle of Pattaya but only 10 baht bus ride away.
Jomtien is top drawer 👌
