They re going to Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Malaysia looks like it has much better infrastructure, parks, etc. But the People who are part Muslim arent as openly friendly
An observation: Most tourists or beachgoers tend to stay off the sand when the sky is overcast...If you're wondering where the crowds are - I suggest you spend the day at the Jomtien bus station and monitor the arrivals and departures of tourists. The bus station in Pattaya Nua is different from the one in Jomtien - because the Jomtien bus station is primarily for buses running between Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Pattaya/Jomtien. The Pattaya Nua bus station is used by hordes of locals going to Bangkok and many other points in Thailand.
Been saying it for years, Pattaya has out priced itself. At one time it was great value for a fun holiday but over the last 10 years prices have doubled and quality of service has dropped dramatically. Long gone are the days of cheap lodging, cheap beer, cheap food and cheap entertainment Pattaya is slowly killing the golden goose.

This is my first time, and if its less crowded thats good. Cheaper hotel stays and availability. Its crowded enough, you cant even cross the street. I ll be here for 4 months if anyone wants to chat. I ve only met 1 American so far and I ve been here 2 weeks.
There is a sense of financial unease in the UK at least and maybe other western countries I have never seen such political polarisation and dissatisfaction with the government than now. .trust me, you are in the best place

Here you get 3 months vacation, you cant really work, and then you have to pay to live here. Im gonna have to pay 130$ to do a border run just so I could stay 4 months. I was almost arrested at the airport when they said you can stay 90 days. I said No Im gonna do a border run and they said No you cant do that. So hopefully Im not screwed

It is high season but alcoholism is going out of style and the alcoholics are quite literally dying off. The nicest condos are renting fast in jomtien but the people who fill them simply aren’t bar goers much more health consciousness arriving lately.

I get wasted off vodka every other night. I cant drink beer anymore because it makes me soo fat. I dont see how these men past their 30s can still drink beer and not have a total fat face. I d love to drink beer again but I cant. Also young people in general are on the decline. SO the baby boomers and their children (me) WERE BIG GENERATIONS. NOW ITS MUCH SMALLER, and they have less money. Im actually on American Welfare. I dont earn any money, and Im 46. I get about 1000 u.s. a month. Thats all I live off of. I live in the room. Above my wealthy parents garage. I was homeless for years. The last few winters I lived in my van in Florida. No matter how hard I tried I couldnt even get laid. I haven't had sex in like 12 years or longer. Its hard to get welfare like I did. It took years with an attorney. I did work a little before I came here, but Im living off $1,000 a month and a credit card.
I”ll confirm that your both on point. When i first started going to Pattaya 20 years ago no hotels or condos had gyms. There way only Tony’s Gym, and it was a beautiful state of the are complex for the era. Now, almost all hotels & condos have gyms and i don’t think it’s because there is no demand for them. Even the crowd (us gents) walking around are visibly in better shape and just a general look at physiques you can see more are living a more active healthier lifestyle. A global shift and the younger who are constantly replacing the older are leading the change.
A nice clip Heath. It might be interesting to take another identical trip/clip in 2-3 weeks and again in 6-8 weeks to compare the differences in crowds and traffic. Crowds of people are sometimes annoying but a gathering of 6- 8 folks is hardly joyous throng. Thank you for keeping up factual depiction.
Yes, nice and peaceful in jomtien. Head down into pattaya for perspective. Maybe a ride on the songtaew and evening walk on the pattaya beach road. A little busier and completely different vibe. I prefer jomtien for now.

It is different to Pattaya and worth visiting even if it's just for the day. See my recent video in Pattaya from a few weeks ago and at the end I show where to get the bus to Jomtien. It takes about 20 minutes. 👍
A very professional video! 👍 I've been going to Pattaya and Jomtien every two or three years since 1995. Compared to the crowds of those days, it almost seems like a ghost town these days. I was in Patong Beach, Phuket last February. There were more people there, at least in the area where I spent most of my time.

Annual high season slaughter of foreign currencies. for example Euro gone from 40bht a few months ago down to 35bht this week plus the rip off Air travel prices might have something to do with people going elsewhere.
Sadly Pattaya is no longer cheap greed by bar owners, bar girls and landlords has ruined the city, Use to be a lot cheaper than Bangkok but now prices are equel. After living in Pattaya 12 years I will never return due to high rip off prices and attitude of many Bar owners. Now my time & money is spent in the Philippines where the only down side I've found in last 7 years is the food choices.

I don't know about Jomtien, but last week I had to go to Central Pattaya a few times. It seemed to be crazy crowded. I'm not sure how many people are in motorcycle accidents every day, or how many people are run over, but it must be a lot. Traffic everywhere.

Crowds are in Pattaya !Endless traffic jams. If you go from Pratamnak to Patty for shopping, it's unbearable. The beach road is jammed every day, 2nd road, 3rd road is a disaster. Pattaya is too small for all the vehicles. In Pratamnak (Cosy beach) it's crowded, too. Jomtien has too much Construction sites on Beachroad. Nobody wants to stay there.🙋♂🙋♂
Dont know if I'd wanna swim in that water, what with a million plus urban area undoubtedly dumping their sewage closeby. Maybe someday a creative vlogger will investigate if and how effectively sewage is treated prior to sending the sewage to the sea. And where the sewage exit pipes are located so we know the areas to avoid.
Many people comment on the sea quality, assuming it’s poor because they don’t see many swimmers. However, this isn’t true. The sea is perfectly fine for swimming, but most residents in the area have pools in their condominiums and tend to avoid the beaches during the hotter parts of the day.
Bangkok was the most visited city in the world in 2024 with over 30 million visitors and you’d think there would be some spillage over in jomtien but it’s looking 👀 like that. 😮
Jomtien is disgusting with all of the construction. It's dusty and dirty. The one way traffic makes using the songthaews difficult. There's no room on the sidewalk, traffic is going against the grain. It's a sh!tshow. I don't blame people for staying away....
On one hand, people say they want major improvements, but on the other, they complain when those improvements are being made. I certainly would not call making improvements disgusting. 🤔
@ They closed two way traffic March 1, which means this has been going on for almost 10 months. I live about 300m from Dongtan Beach and walk the beach every day. This project has been an absolute gong show. And the result is the mess you see now. And apparently they’re not even halfway done. It’s supposed to take 24 months so there’s 14 months of this get to go. It’s easy to say ‘It’s Thailand’ but that has resulted in tourists staying away and family businesses suffering. The mayor of Pattaya has a stated objective of increasing family tourists to Pattaya. If you had a family, would you bring them here? I certainly wouldn’t.
My god no wonder the place is empty 99% looks an absolute s**thole why would anyone fly 13 hrs for this - what a dump! A drone and dramatic music don’t change anything!
10 years here Over priced now compared to Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines.....less service, costs are no longer reasonable. Thailand has changed dramatically over the years and the constant back and forth on Visas, playing with the Thai baht currency, all bad news for this country. Now they're aprroving Casinos to be built! It's a slippery slope they're on now. Great vidie though. Just giving my 2 bits after having lived here and married to a Thai more than ten years. If you're here for sun and healthy lifestyle then great, still affordable. But far less affordable than other SE Asian countries now.

Possibly, but I think the days of “cheap” are long gone in many tourist destinations. The prices here are not increasing at the same rate of the UK.

Bangkok was the most visited city in the world in 2024 with over 30 million visitors and you’d think there would be some spillage over in jomtien but it’s looking 👀 like that. 😮

Jomtien is disgusting with all of the construction. It's dusty and dirty. The one way traffic makes using the songthaews difficult. There's no room on the sidewalk, traffic is going against the grain. It's a sh!tshow.
I don't blame people for staying away....
On one hand, people say they want major improvements, but on the other, they complain when those improvements are being made. I certainly would not call making improvements disgusting. 🤔
@ They closed two way traffic March 1, which means this has been going on for almost 10 months. I live about 300m from Dongtan Beach and walk the beach every day. This project has been an absolute gong show. And the result is the mess you see now. And apparently they’re not even halfway done. It’s supposed to take 24 months so there’s 14 months of this get to go.
It’s easy to say ‘It’s Thailand’ but that has resulted in tourists staying away and family businesses suffering.
The mayor of Pattaya has a stated objective of increasing family tourists to Pattaya. If you had a family, would you bring them here? I certainly wouldn’t.

Over priced now compared to Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines.....less service, costs are no longer reasonable.
Thailand has changed dramatically over the years and the constant back and forth on Visas, playing with the Thai baht currency, all bad news for this country.
Now they're aprroving Casinos to be built!
It's a slippery slope they're on now.

If you're here for sun and healthy lifestyle then great, still affordable. But far less affordable than other SE Asian countries now.
