I watched her nail form video, then her how to build a Freeform nail. I’ve never touched a form in my life. Kid you not, took me four tries to get the form on right. Then by the fifth nail, I built the almost perfect nail. Almost because I switched to builder gel from the poly nail gel I was using, and it was too thin. But just those videos and BAM. Her and Miss Jo are now my only two sources, I love them both and their teaching methods are on par with my learning comprehension. A million thanks to them both. If/when my current employment ends, I’m planning on changing careers after 25 years. I’ve always wanted to get my cosmetology license and do hair and nails. Now I will be doing that, and hopefully within a year or two of completing that, I will open my own salon. That’s the plan anyway.
What I love about you; your explanations are so clear. You never speak down to your viewer, whether a nail tech or not. I always, always learn something. Thank you.
Liz!! You answer the hardest questions that everyone is asking, yet there are no answers online!! Thank you so so much for your videos. They're helped me make my nail extensions way better!!!
Nail tech here and I just have to say thank you so much for your videos🥰 you are actually one of the influencers that helped me to realize this was more than a hobby, but a passion that I wanted to pursue ! After being a DIY’er for 3 years I finally went to school and got my license!! and for that i just want to say THANK YOU! And even as a professional now I STILL USE YOUR VIDEOS REGULARLY! You videos have been and continue to be a stable in my career! God bless!
Liz I just love your videos, you are literally so thorough in everything that you do! I look through your archives / videos every time that a little question comes up and your explanations are just superb! Your technical brain is totally my love language ❤️
I love these videos, I learn so much. I learned 30 years ago to do acrylic nails and have been DIY my own for about 4 years now. You have increased my knowledge 100%. Just wonder why you dont have 1,000,000,000 likes. You are an amazing instructor! thank you!
Thank you for another excellent video! I struggle with keeping my extended sidewalls straight - I seem to go towards the center too far on the right side & then spending a lot of time fixing it. I only do my own, but I love the visual instruction on how to prevent the issue to begin with!
Omg Liz, that C curve was gorgeous! 😍😍 I love looking at a good C curve lol. Video request; could you go over some tips for not filing into your encapsulated art? I did a gorgeous glitter encapsulation, but to get the shaping and thinness correct on the sides and free edge, I ended up filing right through my glitter. I ended up with really obvious clear patches on the sides and free edge. I'd love to see what to do to prevent that or how to fix it when/ if it happens. Please please please! 😘😘
Im not a professional, but I usuallly build the apex area higher than the free edge so when filing to the encapsulated free edge it comes together. Sorry if I have some misspelling just a danish follower, but love the nail hub ❤
Impeccable as always Liz! Now that I have several months of practice I need to take some time to go back and rewatch the whole fundamentals series. I'm sure there are things I didn't retain the first time.
As always another Flawless video guide!!! Thank You Elizabeth darling😘😘😘😘😘 Learning so much as I progress from what the mess is that! To working on Flawless Techniques....🙏🙏🙏🙏🎊🎉💝 THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you Liz! You are such an amazing teacher and have taught me so much! It'd be great to see a video on what the difference is between regular gel and Japanese gel. I've been looking into a few different brands of and Kokoist is one I want to try. Thanks for the recommendations! Really helps me since they have several different ones!! Looking forward to the next video!
Hi there really isn't a true difference in gels globally. Gel is gel but some cultures/countries prioritize certain formulations. Japanese gel tends to be soak-off only and they tend to sell things in teeny tiny jars (mainly because storage space is a premium there so techs can fit way more colors in a small space and/or have them in mobile setups). They also tend to be highly pigmented and geared towards art. I started in nails because of my obsession with Japanese style nail art. They definitely are a trend setter in the industry alongside eastern Europe.
@@TheNailHub Right but apparently the natural nail is conditioned and then buffed to a high shine before the base gel. Since the nails don't need to be roughed up, I'm thinking Japanese gels can help those of us that are self taught DIY'ers. I'm talking about damaging the natural nail from over filing. 🙋🏻♀️
I second this question! I've been contemplating specializing in Japanese gels if I become a pro, mainly because of the differences in prep of the natural nail and possible benefits of that, long term. But are they as effective in terms of durability etc ? Following this question / answers. :)
do you have recs on when to use Excel Builder vs LE builders? I don’t know when to use which! And for LE builders I’m even more confused which nail types suit which builders
I'm new to the Kokoist system and have a question. I currently have the platinum bond duo and the mega stick base. I know neither of these require use of a bonder/dehydrator or primer...but what about the Excel builder gel? I don't have that yet, but will be adding that to my toolbox soon. Thank you for your amazing, easy to follow tutorials, super helpful!!
I would suggest using your mega stick base under the excel builder. Excel doesn’t adhere well alone and needs a base coat underneath. Mega stick is perfect.
I have trouble starting from the tip getting it even it seems like mine always ends up with a dent in it after I come off my nail seems like I've got to use a lot of product to build the length of my nails and medium to long coffin shape and I use the IBD gel so if you can let me know what I am doing wrong I would surely appreciate that that is what I'm fighting with so bad thank you so much for your talent and explaining and showing us things that we need to know thank you so much your advice is highly appreciated thank you😍💅👍
Hi Melinda if you can please send me a picture. You can DM us @thenailhub on IG or you can email a pic to sales@thenailhub.com. That way I can see what going on and help you fix it. No rush. Next time you do an extension with that problem just send it my way.
@@TheNailHub thank you darling as soon as I get somebody to show me how to send a picture through email I will I'm not too good on working these phone thank you darling you are a blessing it seems like I have to put more on the tip then I do my Apex cuz if I don't it's all lumpy and bumpy
Yes same concepts apply to acrylic too. Gel and acrylic are technically the same end product with mainly just differences in the polymerization process. One uses UV light and the other is through combining two agents. But same nail concepts apply to both.
I like both. At least with coffin or ballerina shape you’re less likely to stab yourself. Haha. Blowing your nose or washing your face is a lot more risky with stiletto nails.
What if a client wants to keep the length of their natural nail? Would you still recommend that removing the length will result in a better appearance and shape of the extension?
im not a tech but i do have long natural nails. i have used this method but it did take a lot more product and more time shaping. when i break a nail and use a form it is much more fast and easier to extend. i dont think either change the appearance but it does take more effort and gotta trust the process
with natural nails that are longer they can tend to grow in odd directions . so the nail form can be a tad tricky to fit to the nail. my issue is my nails grow down so it can take some finagling to get the form right
If you're client wants to keep their natural nails they are a better candidate for just growing them out slowly with an overlay. I will never understand the obsession with having the natural nail under there. But as long as it's not lifting or peeling or curling away then no problem with leaving it as is. Your cclients need to understand that if they want drastic change (length or shape) there are going to be tradeoffs. And if they want perfect nails that have no curving or natural quirkiness then they are going to have to remove the natural part that is causing the quirks. Hope that makes sense.
I have a 17 year old who has sweaty nails and I dehydrate and prime I have base coated and inevitably within 2 days she will start loosing nails she loves them super long and I the other nail tech that was doing her nails used acrylic and she done pretty good but isn’t there anything I can use in gel
Acetone is a great dehydrator. I use that on sweaty wet nails to get rid of excess moisture on the nail plate. And I absolutely agree with Olivia. There are certain bonders like light elegance airbond that actually use ambient humidity to create adhesion. Def try both. Also not sure how bad your daughters hands get with sweat or how you feel about this but just thought I would add that Botox does wonders for sweating hands. My sister suffered from very sweaty hands and she gets Botox about once a year in her palms and it helps a ton!
My nails don't have much of a c curve so when I build extensions they don't either because I build over my already mid length nails. A heavy c curve reminds me of an ingrown nail. Is there any reason it's necessary when building long nails?
Time and moisture. Keep them hydrated and let them grow out. Keeping them short also helps as they regrow. There is really nothing to replace layers once they are removed. The nail must regrow completely.

I've heard that the Light Elegance Airbond primer is perfect, because is uses hydration to make the gel stick to the natural nail.

Please watch my video on c-curves. They are super important in creating strength.
I was wondering do you use polygel? Or just gel in a pot? What's the difference
Poly gel goes on more like acrylic through a patting/pressing motion whereas gel is different.
Do you sell those Kokoist nail forms? I’ve been looking for some everywhere, I can only find the gelip tips.
