That is one serious design fault. How can it be in service and how can it be type approved? I’ve heard that chinese companies sometimes fake CE markings, they pretent to be adhering to the conformity regulations but they actually don’t. This lift has that “Aliexpress” quality to it in regards to product safety. I.e. no safety at all. holy shit. that is a serious issue. reminds me of a local company we took over when it went bankrupt: HiQuaLift (ironic, yea) when you turned on the car top inspection, it would still respond to a floor call. i was lucky to have tested the car top stop button before, because that scared the shit out of me. we took all of the lifts with that type controller out of service immediately, until we found a solution for this problem. that can get someone killed. eventually, we let the inspection switch toggle a relay in the controller cabinet, that cut the main lead for the landing call buttons, rendering them unusable.
Oof... How software safety killed 3 people Therac-25 had no hardware safety and relied on buggy software. Older machines did have these safety features.
Question : What if youre inside a elevator/lift and then the safety circuit is broken and youre stuck between to floors? Would there be anyway to get out of here? Let's assume this is an even older lift that didn't got it's emergency phone lines modernized , what would then happen?
If the safety circuit is broken the lift can not move apart from if it is part of the pre-door procedure. There is no way of getting out of a lift if the inner door is locked, or if it is unlocked and you can't reach the rollers.
@@benolifts btw how do you reach the door rollers on euro doors when trapped? (when you have no friend with you) You said in your "detailed look at an ecodisc" vid that you always should check the car top controls before going surfing in automatic.

What amazed me was that people were still using it, jumping in and out. I informed the building caretaker who turned it off from the keyswitch in the car. I half expected the caretaker to get the rise of his life however the brake came on with the key.
The same lift was at Prosper Plaza, a place in Bucharest. When safety bypassing and doing what you did there, it does the same thing. In March 2022, the place burned down, and finally, that piece of shit lift was finally removed! Hope they install a better lift, like a KONE or a Schindler.
I need to do more tests to find out exactly what is happening. On inspection the lift stops gently using the VF when you let go of the buttons. This is always a bad sign. Also sometimes it shoots upwards unexpectedly.
@@nelsonahlvik6650 Most likely a lot less interesting; the governor would trip before it could overspeed. Or it could change direction and start going up because counterweight.

This elevator's safety system is badly designed - if the software crashes while the elevator goes in either direction, the cabin will just keep going. There are many videos of elevator CCTV footage showing such software failure in action. This could potentially the elevator to overshoot the top, or bottom floor, possibly injuring passengers. There's at least one such incident, which happened in 2014. ruclips.net/video/WrvsfP1PxYk/видео.html - take a note on the floor indicator being stuck at -2 level for a bit until the software realizes the elevator has lost its position, indicated by the dashes on the display.
That video you linked to was not a software faliure. That was a break failiure causing the lift to shoot upwards. This happened because the counterweight weighs about 50% the weight of a fully loaded car, so if there was only one person in the lift, the counterweight would be heavier, so it would fall downwards which would pull the lift upwards. All the other videos you mentioned were probably due to the same reason. The likleyhood of that being caused by software is next to impossible, since it would need to be lacking a proper safety circuit AND have crappy software. Also the lift in that video was going way above it's top speed, which software could bot cause unless it was somhow able to control the brake directly.
