Shawn Clear ohio. I jumped for them one season, they made me drive half hour away meet the driver, work 2.5 hours then go home. I know several drivers at the hub most have now left. Management is extremely irrational and vindictive. Long term employee tells them a week in advance has important appointment needs done by 7p. They load him heavy that day then pile on extra pickups at 6pm. Meanwhile the 3 other drivers in the area finished at 5:45. Stuff like that.

I worked as a driver helper for three season. I didn't work from the truck but delivered using a gas cart and trailer. Sometimes people couldn't hack the job and quit. I worked the San Antonio, TX. circuit. I had two routes which started at 0900 hrs. till 1800 hrs. One day on Christmas Eve I was asked if I could do one more route because everyone wanted to head out to the parties. Since I wasn't a party person and retired from the military and Boeing, I performed the tasking. Started about 1900 hrs. and didn't finish until around 0400 hrs, this in was in Windcrest, TX. Some may say that I was stupid or crazy, but I was happy to get those packages out for somebody's waiting hands. Rain was in the works; yet, it was a place where people brought their families to see the massive Christmas Displays-I wasn't out there alone. You do meet all kinds and types of people out there . Had a lady who wanted me to come by after work and eat dinner with her -yes I declined; had an lady that and I quote, "I want to kiss you but my husband in the next room!"; people offering me big money to deliver the undeliverable screen TVs. But other than that you do meet some very good clients. One more for the road, I was delivering to a house and these guys came across the street and said, "Can we ask you a question?" I said yes you can. The leader of the qroup said my fellow workers and I are trying to figure out why you in an UPS uniform was driving a golf cart making deliveries. "Did you get in trouble at work and they took your truck from you and now they making you drive this cart to make your deliveries?" After explaining my job we had a good long laugh about it. Just finished delivering ingredients for ammo reloading. Thought that would share the fun and experiences that you can have as a driver helpers.
Mr. StarOfTruth We appreciate every cold bottle of water. Yes the water helps, but it’s the gesture from you, the public, that means a lot to us. It's basically $3,000 a month if you get 30 years full time service. Which he has. It's $100 a year contributed to your pension at full time and $60 a year to your pension at part time.
Yep. Still gonna make over $60,000 this year. The good thing about staying part time too is that my vacations stay "in the hub" which means that I'm picking vacations with people that have waaaay less seniority than me as opposed to package where everybody has waaaaay more seniority than me and I still get the weeks I want. If it wasn't for my church situation I'd go full time though. It's just really not an option for me with as unpredictable of a schedule as we have.

Not always possible. Sometimes the job itself isn't safe as it should be. But I see what you mean.
Its because he was born in the 80's it may be a boomer thing to say but work ethic was a big deal for a long time now its not really worth it to have it as with most companies your are a cog that is replaceable combine that with declining wages its no wonder my and gen z work ethic is in the crapper
I don’t know how people do that for 30 years with a smile on their face.
God bless.
Obamid 😳
Its not a 30 year job anymore maybe 20 if your lucky. If you were hired after the year 2010 you'll never see 30 you'll see the wheelchair before that happens lol job used to be mission impossible not its mission insanity
we all can learn from the humble gentleman..:
"..they accepted me. Well, ok. I'll do it." And, "the guy before me managed to do it. I will get there."
God bless you Brother “
I know your job wasn’t easy I wish you the best 🙏
Me too
UPS is the worst delivery company. The only delivery company that has absolutely zero AC in their trucks.
30 years and no accident that's amazing
That mans back is actually stronger than Arnold Schwarzenegger. LOL
Just became a driver helper at ups and we did 90 stops in 5 hours and I have so much respect for them and these drivers do that every day all day by themselves its crazy and the lady I worked with has been doing this for 35 years
Enjoy your retirement!
People like this are the unsung heroes of society. Work hard. Don't complain. Part of the community. Provide for their family.
Good to see a UPS man who takes pride in his work and doesn’t throw ur shit around
Well, he is on camera...
My UPS driver is cool as hell! I always meet him at the truck so he doesn't have to walk up my long driveway. I ordered a big package and it ended up coming on a very rainy day here in Florida and he helped me carry it all the way into my house even though he was soaked to the bone. He dried off a little but didn't want to stay since he had more packages to deliver that day. Fantastic guy hands down
Wow, praise God. This man is so humble. Brought tears to my eyes.
I’m getting out the Navy next and UPS would be a great career move choice
Not now. Letting drivers go to keep the benefits a high pay from happening.
I got 36 years safe driving.....! Retired in 2015 😎
How are you enjoying retirement?
I checked your channel. You're 18
Nice story

Been a FedEx driver for like 9 months now and It feels like I been there 30yrs 😭 it is a challenging job but fun
Cody Foster I wish it was express 🥺 I work for ground. Damn if u got out at 9-10pm your route must’ve been crazy👀 I know how that is thou I had my bad days before my latest is getting back at 11pm 🤦🏻♂️ I still remember it like it was yesterday hunts me at night, Nd now with the COVID it’s like it’s Christmas everyday 😡 people order non-Stop,
Cody Foster haha when u left FedEx I actually joined it 😅 how ironic. But damn they made you help out others. To be honest there’s drivers that I wouldn’t mind helping at my base but some driver wanna be there all day and those are the ones I’m not to fund of 🤦🏻♂️ I’m a real nice guy when it comes to helping but damn the goal is to finish and go home not stay there till the next day. Btw I’m in NY so you can only imagine the traffic over here 😓 & there’s been so many times too I wanted to just quit. One day who knows lol thanks also😎✊🏼 gotta stay positive out here
@Cody Foster 270 stops was my peak accomplishment
Good luck out there always look both ways x so many times in a resi park check no traffic grab a box slip out the door car fucking flies by within inches of me on a 25 never see it never hear it just assume it takes one second to slip
Nice guy.
Around her ups treats employees like garbage. They've had 10 plus year employees quit mid shift. Awful management
R B wwow, where?
Shawn Clear ohio. I jumped for them one season, they made me drive half hour away meet the driver, work 2.5 hours then go home. I know several drivers at the hub most have now left. Management is extremely irrational and vindictive. Long term employee tells them a week in advance has important appointment needs done by 7p. They load him heavy that day then pile on extra pickups at 6pm. Meanwhile the 3 other drivers in the area finished at 5:45. Stuff like that.
I worked for FedEx for 10 years, just loading trucks. Everything went fine til the management switched up for the 3rd time. This time around, it was a young pup, probably never seen or picked up a package in his life, told me I was too slow and too many boxes were outside the truck still. I tried reasoning with him til I lost my temper, where he proceeded to tell me he didn't like my attitude and told me to go home.

Wish you the best for an amazing retirement. 😊 Enjoy your new chapter in life. 💝
Especially during peak season, around christmas, these guys get hella work. Please help them if you can around then, they have a tough job.
I worked for fedex and boy im jealous! They gave us penskie rental trucks with ni shelves nothing and we had to dig for boxes its nice having shelves
UPS is the real Santa 🎅🏼
UPS Men are the best .. every time i see them i jump up and down and say UPS UPS and if im at home i give them some candy or a cold bottle of water..
@Glenn Weeks If he does that's his business, not yours.
Mr. StarOfTruth We appreciate every cold bottle of water. Yes the water helps, but it’s the gesture from you, the public, that means a lot to us. Summer in Dallas or during peak season, it always makes me smile when someone hands me a bottle of water or Gatorade and says “here...thanks for doing what you do.”
Lol u arse !
His pension must be sick!
It's basically $3,000 a month if you get 30 years full time service. Which he has. It's $100 a year contributed to your pension at full time and $60 a year to your pension at part time.
DuckTalesWooHoo1987
How’s it going? Still doing the Part time gig? (4 days a week?$
DuckTalesWooHoo1987
Awesome. Looks like this year is finally the year where things are lined up for me to make a transition to ups I’m pumped and ready.
80sCats&GunsAddict what do fedex drivers make?
Idk why but all the UPS drivers I've ever met have been great people
They don't want to lose their 25+ dollar an hour job, that's why.
That's the honest truth.
My dad has been working for them for 24 years, kudos to you sir! I saw firsthand growing up how hard of a job this actually is, not to mention the long hours keeping him away from home. One of my fondest memories as a little girl is my dads boss letting me check out the back of his fully loaded, very hot truck before he would leave to do his routes, you couldn’t tell me my dad wasn’t the coolest. 😂
Now I feel bad for ordering 50 POUNDS of bird food for my parakeets :/
Kamil Kuzmicki

Maul Maulplier wow wtf did I do to you you triggered
Maul Maulplier seems someone needs a nap smh
Kamil Kuzmicki lol you didnt know
Kamil Kuzmicki 50 lbs? Pssssh that's easy. I'd only be slightly upset if you were on the top floor if an apartment but it's all good. Drivers are overpaid and they cry and complain about doing a little bit of work. Don't feel bad for the terds.
Keep going strong Richie black
I just started working for ups today
Im so sorry.
I started a month ago. Don’t know if I’m staying...
Sorry to hear that bud. Apply for Usps. All the jobs there pay better than a part time ups handler.
Ed T. Better then working in the nursery tho
To all, work safe stay hydrated
I don’t care if he isn’t rich this guy is extremely successful much respect he’s someone to look up to
Shit.... It's about how you spend the money, wouldn't surprise me at all if he is a millionaire, a few hundred on some stocks early in his career, paid off house, he's had steady income for over 30 years, that's better than most college grads.
I really appreciate this man. I know how hard he works. My dad is a UPS driver and he comes home worn out and tired. Its great seeing someone like this still going.
It’s crazy how some other UPS driver gets killed and this was in my recommend afterwards :/
#Frank Ordonez R.I.P. thank the police
I honestly don't know how these people can handle the stress of being on a way too tight schedule while staying nice to customers
No point in rushing to get the package delivered on time only to piss off the customer with something you said.
I started working as a UPS driver last week. Yesterday I completed my 3rd day on my route by myself. Jesus Christ! This job is insane! But I like it
Get over the 60 day hump and you be ok
What would you recommend for Integrad? Is the interview process prior hard, like any driving test or anything? I'm aiming at getting my UPS career started as a 22:4 Package Car Driver!
I’ve been in delivery for 15 years. I’ve done other jobs but delivery is the most fun. You get to meet new people every day and see all kinds of interesting stuff.
I thank all of you guys for what you do. And you fight traffic, delivery's in rain, snow, sleet, hail, and hot weather. Now covid-19. God bless you all stay safe.
I am a seasonal UPS Driver Helper who my driver, my supervisors like me so much because of my work ethic, hard work my reliability and my understanding of the DIAD that they want me to become a UPS Driver one jockingly said that I can a finish a route all by myself but I don't want to one of the reasons is that I'll likely end up working in a rough route in a inner city neighborhood and I hate those places they only reserve the best routes for the guys with the most seniority, another reason is that it is not what I want to do in life I hate the notion of staying in a dead end job I have more important goals to do.
Truthseeking Troll it’s not deadend it pays pretty well if more than police officers depending on where you live. It’s a good job to use as a stepping stone for your true purpose in life.
I know that this doesn’t connect with his story but USPS ARE THE WORST MAIL PACKAGE DELIVEY!
you have obviously never worked with the USPS.
rhino from the void obviously not but you can tell in the way that they delivered, they lie when they delivered they said that the package was delivered but it was till the next day it delivered and also they loose your package and also scam you, so please don’t tell me that I didn’t work with them please!
They sure have the worst delivey
I have to agree. I know they do hard work but about the packages are always somewhat ripped
@@danthompson5797 anything first class or smaller is safe. Otherwise it's doomed
Every time the UPS man comes by and drops off packages, he always gives my dog Belle a dog biscuit. It's so wholesome. She'll sit by the door of his truck all straight and politely and wags her tail
i love working for ups . challenging fersure ! but so worth it
Congratulations 30 year safe driving here also. Thank you for a great positive attitude.

Job is tough ! I work on the ramp! 25 years in August gods willing. I'm having shoulder trouble so I'm planning to retire.
How's the shoulder? Hope you were able to retire
"They'll show me the best ways to get it done" what he really means is they showed him how they want it done, and then he did it a better way
Im retired from UPS , 31 years no accidents, no injuries
Impressive
Great video.
I’m a impressed by driver Richie Black. He is a good guy, good skills, friendly and professional.
It’s tough to find good employees.
Thanks UPS for this video.
His job is extremely brutal work I'm surprised he lasted that long. Most people doing that kind of work would've given up within 2 to 3 months.
2-3 days*
Great job! I started in '82 also and just retired 6/2018. I loved it. Not necessarily the job but the people. So many good folks out there. I miss it. Some you go back out and visit, but it's just not the same as being their UPS guy. Met my wife on my route in west L.A. I love your line "just enough to stay out of their way". I know a lot of guys go feeder driving, but package keeps you alive inside.
Only if every driver is like this man
Seeing this after all the videos with deliverers throwing packages is kinda relieving.
In 2005 I was a UPS driver for a year. It's not an easy job. I hated it.
That man is an asset to UPS. I wish I had a loyal worker like him.
Suprising with all his seniority he is still in a 10 cube with all them packages. He should be in a 4 cube driving out In the country. Not knocking him though, hard worker and 30 years safe driving is elite stuff right there. I went into feeders after 11 years in Package and love it. Easiest work and most money.
vikings844 damn a feeder must b nice
Some people like the hard work.
Ikenoshi you have to be a regular package car driver and put your name on a list to get into feeder it could take up to 20 years or more it goes by Seniority
I drove for UPS for 39 years . Great Job
You were a slave all your life. Waste of life

How are you doing sir?
This job breaks me some days.
These guys work their butts off, and I know I could never take the stress, especially during the holidays. I hope he has an enjoyable retirement.
UPS is a great job I’ve been working there as a feeder driver over 15yrs now. But I can’t see myself retiring from there. Ive seen many drivers leave or retire from there busted up. The number 1 feeder driver(40yrs) at my building had to be forced to retire(DOT issues) 6 months later he was dead 💀 I definitely have respect for the delivery drivers cuz it’s a young mans sport. But the demand to be perfect every day is too much. Too much on you mentally, an physically and you earn every dollar for all the years you worked there.
anthony drummond 100% Truth.
I've been a helper for close to two months and I hear the DIAD in my sleep
Damn weed is a trip.. i was just watching some gaming videos now im somehow watching a ups dude?

@@dreamchaser5758 I've been driving since September... But still have not scratch since the peek season came the time froze .. So now they going give me another 30 day during this time once again to try to scratch ... God willing 🙏 I make it happen.
I worked at UPS as a walker and it’s probably one of the most memorable job experiences I have ever had, I do miss the chimes when I start up the truck and the sound of the scanners, although it is only seasonal, it’s still one of my favourite place I have ever worked at.
No mention of the millions of packages loaders loaded for him which is the true work
I’m one of the million package handlers working for UPS and let me tell you, we bust our asses. Getting up at midnight or so, clocking in just to load up 1,500+ boxes within a 6 hour period. You can’t stop to breathe, that’s for the one 10 minute break you get halfway through your shift. A lot of times the packages are beyond your body weight and many times as you’re moving that large package you’ve already had 10 pass you on the belt. I very much enjoy working my job, but it can be taxing. A lot of get beyond stressed, even to the point of people breaking out into arguments/fights. We don’t mean to act that way, we’re just worked VERY hard. Thank you for acknowledging us, too! Package handlers and drivers try their best
It's all a pain in the ass. Ive did them all and the delivery and driving is a billion times more stressful
The loaders work their arse’s off! You guys (and girls) work extremely hard and work at crazy hours. My hats off to each and every one of you. I know I wouldn’t want to do that job!
🤦🏼♂️
Most underrated job you guys are true essential workers. God bless

Being an effective UPS package car mechanic is also a challenge. Nobody talks about us.
BROWNWRENCH BROWN why is it a challenge?
That's because u guys don't fix shit...you just write "Good to drive" in the DVIR or send it out for the big stuff because the new trucks are always under warranty because they do that last.
