    Excellent review, Dustin. I have a Peak Design camera bag with shoulder strap and it's great. I can even slip a carbon fibre tripod across the top and beneath the cover flap. They make great products. Thanks again - will keep this review in mind for when I purchase a camera backpack.

    It’s been all too long since I’ve seen an upload that caught my interest, but as ever, great review haha. I ended up on the Kickstarter for this after a couple of years with the large shoulder bag, and they’ve both been pretty perfect for my everyday use. I end up grabbing this out the car or house more often than the shoulder bag now. The straps aren’t always the Most comfortable with 40 kilos, but it works well, more so with the belt straps. Keep up the great work!

      @@DustinAbbottTWI Haha agreed, it's strong enough to do it so far, even if i aren't lmao. if i'm going that far up in weight though i'll normally take out the large camera bag and use it a large 'tasmanian tiger' bag for wild camping. three bags for different uses but that is by far the most useful bag so far. keep up the great work bud

    Thorough review!!
    How does the backpack work when piggybacked onto a suitcase handle?
    Are the straps close enough or adjustable for narrow or sloping shoulders?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 лет назад

      Hi Jeffrey. There's a wide range of adjustment on the straps, so I don't there is a problem there. The trolley strap on the back of the backpack works nicely when attached to a suitcase handle.

    Nice in depth video, as always Dustin!
    I'm not really convinced by the "box in a box" design though...

    Hi Dustin,
    Nice detailed review!
    I was tossed between this PD pack vs. Atlas Athlete (Adventure is too big but works for others who need that much space). I chose the Atlas in the end.
    If you have time, do check it out as the founder, Allan, is all about personalization and customization. He’s keeping it small to service his customers well. And he’s a professional photographer like yourself.
    It doesn’t have that office professional look but what it does have is a built in ICU that is an expandable origami design.
    Pros:
    1) comfort, I think this most important;
    2) flexibility, can handle gear and non-gear with removable hip belt and you can choose your belt size as well as it has two pack size, depending on your torso length;
    3) high quality built all around;
    4) expandable capacity, it has a built in ICU that can hold 10L of gear and for non-gear, it can expand to 30L or compressed to 20L if used as EDC;
    Cons:
    1) price higher than PD pack here but if you remove the built in ICU, they are close but still higher;
    2) the laptop sleeve is better on Adventure but for Atlas pack, it cannot fit my 15” so I need to put it into a slim sleeve and on top of the camera where I think is best position for distributed weight
    It was a tough decision as you stated, PD make quality and well thoughtful design. I may pick it up down the road for professional office environment.
    Disclaimer: I don’t work for Atlas but just a big fan as well as I have lots of PD gear.
    Cheers!

      The Atlas is a much better Adventure bag. It has a real harness and built to carry 40L worth of gear. PD is more of a travel bag, but unfortunately they have no idea how to design a harness to carry heavy load a long way. At least this bag has a hip belt that is bigger than a 1" strap. However, it looks very minimal, maybe carry 25 lbs for travel or short periods of time.
      Take a look at any expedition backpack built to carry 40 or 50 lbs and the harness looks very different.
      Dustin, your review is very much like everyone else, just opening every compartment. Do something different by actually loading it with gear and clothes so we get an idea of how much can fit in it. Load it up then put it on your back so we can see how it rides. Think about it. You didn't once mention if this bag was comfortable to you. Or can you adjust the harness, does it have load lifters? What good is it if it can hold all your gear, but it's a pain to carry? When you see a car review, yes they show you around the car, but they also drive it, right? Here you didn't even sit in the car, you just pointed to features like every other RUclipsr does. Sure lots of details on the pockets, but put something in them so we get a sense of scale.
      You have some good bones, but you can do so much better.

    • @mattwalch4
      @mattwalch4 5 лет назад

    Dustin thanks for making this review! Super helpful and "packed" with details! Maybe for the next one you can include a birds eye view shot too so we can get the real perspective of the bag? Also adds for different angles in a long video!

    • @DustinAbbottTWI

      Shooting with multiple cameras and angles creates a lot more work - which is tough when I release three videos per week and this isn't my full time job. Maybe some day.

    great review as usual. but can you attach a tripod to this backpack Dustin ? thanks

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 лет назад

      Sure, there are a couple of ways. It has criss-cross straps where you can attach it to the front of the backpack, or a setup on the side for side mounting (which works better with more compact tripods, IMO).

      Most all Peak Design products are priced fairly steeply, but they are also extremely durable and well thought out. I haven't used the bag you reference, but I have used a lot of other bags and note a lot of clever little extras built into PD products that keep me personally using them.

      I've used it for multiple overnight trips as my sole piece of luggage and as a way to transport gear for day trips. It works great, though I always find that PD straps are a little less padded than what I like when the bag is packed really heavy.

  • @bear63100
    @bear63100 5 лет назад

    True, it is nice, well designed bag. But al the features do add up in weight. Over 3 kg!!! ( with a camera cube) that is a lot for a Carry -on bag. Most airlines allow max 10 kg.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 лет назад +1

      I have noticed that airlines rarely look at backpacks. A pull along small suitcase often gets tagged on the jetway, but a backpack seems to pass inspection easier.

    Why carry heavy bag contents when you can roll them in a rolling carry on?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  4 года назад

      In some cases rolling is great. In some cases, however, you don't have the chance to roll (I live in a country with snow for six months of the year, for example), and thus rolling gear and extending handle both adds weight and takes up storage space from the bag.

    Man, you've put zero effort into this one... didn't even take the tags off in order to at least pretend you've used it.
    How can you call this a review, when you never tried to pack it (if not actually travel with it), you have no idea what it's like to use it, no notion of how comfortable it is to carry.
    This could be called a first look, a presetation, but by no means is it a review.
