I’m very similar to you guys. Several years doing well on Amazon with employees, but interested in the security and margins on eBay. Going to follow your journey closely.
Sheesh I have 8k items but only sold like 4k and some change in one weekend before. Good sales bro, my inventory set up looks like yours except I still use the bin system. Stacked 5 high. Works great for me.
Thanks for your video. When mink coats were popular, it was very common to have the owner's name embroidered into the label so Leila Roman was probably the original owner.
Thanks for sharing! That is a valuable info for someone like me who is just starting. I always have trouble deciding if the clothing will sell or not. I still don’t know what brand are on top and sell quick. I was sitting with a pencil when watching your video 😂❤
First time I've seen someone store them packed and ready to ship instead of on racks and hangers or in bins. It's not a huge issue not being able to see the item? I'm still trying to figure out my inventory and storage system and I like packing while listing so you get the proper shipping price but you have to dig it out if you need to see the item again. The inside of that cabin looks absolutely beautiful.
Yeah Christian and his wife love the cabin! So we originally didn’t store our items that way because we actually had the same concerns with not being able to see the item. To fix that problem we decided to take a marker and write the initials of the brand on the bag. This helps us have more confidence in knowing what is in the bag before shipping. We have caught a few mistakes using this method so it does work for us. You just need to make sure you have a marker that doesn’t smear haha. So far we do like the pre-package system better and it’s cheaper for us!
Yes, we are both full time and run the business together. We split the work up evenly. If one of us is taking photos the other is shipping or doing something else to help the business.
I believe the size of the warehouse is about 4000 square feet. We normally want an item to have at least a 50% sell through rate. Sometimes we will go lower if the item is really cheap and easy to store. Also, in January we listed 2100 items and sold 1668 items on all the platforms. Which is 79% STR. Obviously some of those sales were older listings. So, when I take the 1668 divided by our total listings (around 10,000 last month) it’s about 16%. Hopefully that answers your question!
Our STR is close to 100% our ROI is over 120% and our average cost per item is normally $5-$6. And we normally have around $60 - $100,000 of inventory on hand.
Great question, we cost average our inventory and pull reports at the end of each month. We are planning on doing a bookkeeping video in the near future.
It always makes me wonder when someone says that they have 10k items or so in their inventory. I thrift daily, and typically have around 1300 or so items in my inventory. I buy hard goods as well. I bet a huge bulk of those 10k listings are low sell through rate items. There's no way 2 people can thrift 10k high or higher sell through rate items. Maybe they buy in bulk other places aside from thrift stores? It doesn't add up. Maybe I'm wrong and they're the 2 luckiest people in resell.
Haha I agree , it seems ALL large clothing resellers are praying for youtube to pay off , I bet they all have ALOT of dead inventory, sure clothing sells , but rarely for the prices they show , and good luck finding even 1 of those $50 jackets while sourcing let alone 10,000 of them
@@kb6530 I think you're right to some degree, but I don't think having more inventory equates to hoping that RUclips works for them as an income stream. As for $50 items, I find them often. It isn't uncommon for me to find $50 or more clothing items. It's not as common as finding the "bread and butter" items that sell for $20-$25, but it happens pretty much every time I thrift. Sometimes multiple $50+ items. I'm just questioning the quality of their inventory. I could go to the bins and buy a ton of clothing and have 10K active listings, too, but it wouldn't sell. But hey, I know nothing about their business. It's just odd to me that someone that resells clothing would have 10k active listings if a majority of them aren't low sell through items. I think a lot of people don't realize that eBay charges 10 cents per item per month after the first month. That's $1.10 per item per year. If you have a ton of dead inventory sitting around not selling you're paying $1.10 per item a year just to have the privilege to have it listed on eBay. That adds up fast when you have hundreds or thousands of crap items that take forever to sell. Not to mention most low sell through items sell for lower amounts of money. You're just eating into your already crap margins. That's assuming they don't have the highest tier store. Even then, the highest store tier is like... 1K a month or something like that. It's crazy to pay that unless you are moving the shit out of your inventory.
we sold 13,520 items on ebay alone last year with several thousand more on poshmark and mercari. We try to find items with good sell through rates and we look to make at least $10 profit on each sale. We also hand pick most of our items from local thrift stores and some other discount stores.

Thanks for the tour of your shop. I love seeing people’s set ups.
Nice set up and great sales. I’m in the process of setting up inventory in my shed. Looking forward to getting done and start selling. 👍🏻
You can do it! Its nice to have your inventory out of the house.

Good thing you have a warehouse, I've seen resellers houses almost look like Hoarders, giving every excuse "it's a business"
I know! Hoarders needs a reseller edition! lol

I use the bin system too, but most of mine are the huge black totes from Home Depot. I think I have almost a thousand totes.
Nice work!
wow thats a lot of totes!

What happens if they don't sell ALL that inventory? Where does it go?

Do you have a link for the boxes you store in?
Not yet but I will try to get that up soon!
Hey man what is your sourcing strategy?
We basically pick up anything that we can make at least $10 on. We hand pick and source our items from mostly thrift stores in our local area.

We definitely don't have 10,000 $50 jackets but that would be quite the store.
