I see this frequently. I buy a coffee there and I can not find a seat because people are taking up the seats using the Wifi and not buying anything. And me, a paying customer, can not find a seat. I have started to go to other places for coffee. Sorry Starbucks, you should kick out the freeloaders and make room for your customers.
Freeloading, as seen in Chinese Starbucks, would be inappropriate in western franchises. That's pathetic! The Chinese branches would lose money, and would have to close some locations. Why not build community centres for the elderly patrons?
Dont worry that will change. Here in the US they dont even have chairs anymore. Just a line and a couple bar stools. They took out all the seating and turned it into a standing queue.
In the first place, Starbucks should not allowed any entry unless you purchase a cup of coffee before entry. So they have to shift their cash register before their glass door. And keep away those outdoor tables and chairs to prevent any freebies aunties from taking advantage of the system
No, I couldn't imagine walking into a Starbucks in a Chinese City. One, because I don't eat or drink at Starbucks and two, I have no desire to go to China. If even a quarter of the negative things I hear about China is true, I'd not go there.
More than a quarter of the things you hear about China is true. I lived there temporarily and it was terrible. Especially the elderly. Spitting everywhere and being rude
I thought it might be cool to see Beijing or another top-tier city in China, despite their human rights abuses, but now that I know about 'gutter oil' and all the fake food, I would never set foot there. I can't imagine traveling to a country where you can't eat the food.

They should have own organization to arrange rent-a-hall Me and my colleagues do this for our badminton weekly activity 20 for an hour just 60-90 for 3hours weekend socializing ..just 5 buck per head for 18 people

This is the company and management's fault. You need to not let people do whatever they want in your business. If you don't purchase something, you are not welcome to sit.
Standing height tables, no chairs, no bathroom or wi-fi passwords without purchase and rotate paswords every hour! Play loud rap or rock music to keep them from sleeping or holding a conversation!😂😂
Wait! Don't Chinese know that it's an etiquette to go in a restaurant and BUY something? The shops there are doing business, not opening an elderly day care.

There was a really nice Barnes and Noble in Santa Cruz, CA that I used to go to a lot as a teenager. I read a lot more books than I bought, but, I did always buy coffee there and did purchase some books and magazines there too. I would never just go in to read, that seems lame. Humidity would rise from all those bodies, and the place would get hotter than outdoors due to body heat. That would drive the actual customers away because A/C takes out the odors in the air. As the A/C drags the water vapor out, it also pulls the germs and smells out with that water.
I read about a shop owner who had a problem with "unruly" teenagers loitering and impeding his actual customers. He started piping Korean opera over the loudspeakers outside, that did the trick. Perhaps something the aunties find unpleasant for Starbucks indoor spaces? Others who would actually spend money might be amused by the tactic, I know I was.
I remember their previous video saying their biggest Starbucks in China was falsely charged and taken down, and shortly after they made an imitation of Starbucks and sold a lot.

The moral of this story is to get out of these urban cities. Better yet, get out of that country and return back 20 years later. They're still not ready for this type of living
Thats the thing, only a small portion of china has evolved to the "MODERN" Liberal stage, while the other side is PURE rural, its why a large chunk of chinese move to the modern area, while some poor farmer types are left behind. Thats like importing 3rd world migrants into a "LIBERAL" modern country.. Guess what happens there... I could list a ton of bad things and youtube will censor and delete lol. Conservative "cultures" don't adapt well to "moderN" liberal societies, as they are still stuck in the past, like chinese(conservatives) are.

As said in the video, the police will not kick the Auntie out of the AMERICAN business that they are ruining. If they can suck some life out of the american company then that is a form of chinese patriotism.
No police are going to do anything. And the backlash of calling cops on the little old ladies would be just as bad as the rest of this crap. They going to be sad when Starbucks goes like they have stateside with no chairs and Togo's only.
Would you? This was tried already in Philadelphia Starbucks 2018. 2 people went to a Starbucks and occupied seats without buying anything. They refused to leave and cops were called. The 2 men were arrested and then later went to the media and cried racism. The outcry was so loud in the media the CEO of starbucks had to personally apologize, gave them settlement money as well as pay for their college education and a whole lot of white people got fired. Starbucks since made a national policy that you don't have to purchase to sit at Starbucks.

a vestige of the "Great Leap Forward." that era produced the "grabhags". Anything not nailed down or free disappears.
I’m pretty sure Starbucks will end up being bankrupt if run like this..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Solution: push counter to the door. Remove all seating or push it to the back. Make it a carry out only store for the next 6 months or so until the habit is broken.
Yes. Order first before you can go in, or Set a time limit 30mins per coffee 😅
@@PichaPie_Lyess dine in reservation
Young Chinese do the same. They come to Starbucks to yell at someone on the phone, while eating noodles they bought outside.
That's more depressing because one would think that the bad habits would fade out as the elderly pass away... but it seems that is not the case. A culture of selfishness, glorification of money, status, image and me-me-me, compounded by millions of them being the only child... it doesn't bode well.
same as everyone fucken else or groups of non Chinese having loud ass conversations there wtf the difference
their lack of shame knows no bounds
Very true. For overcharging their premium coffee that taste anything but premium. Now their overseas outlets are facing massive losses due to the global Gaza boycott. Their CEO just got fired. Serves them right. Better be thankful that China did not join the boycott.
No complaints! Perfect place for food and relaxing ! A Coffee shop shall be like this way.
As much as I absolutely detest Starbucks, this Chinese behavior shown here, has actually surpassed Starbucks' detestability. Absolutely *VILE* behavior
How is this vile. Get a dictionary
The CCP can officially take ownership of Starbucks since its a traditional chinese meeting and socializing place.
🤣🤣🤣
I see this frequently. I buy a coffee there and I can not find a seat because people are taking up the seats using the Wifi and not buying anything. And me, a paying customer, can not find a seat. I have started to go to other places for coffee. Sorry Starbucks, you should kick out the freeloaders and make room for your customers.
Freeloading, as seen in Chinese Starbucks, would be inappropriate in western franchises. That's pathetic! The Chinese branches would lose money, and would have to close some locations. Why not build community centres for the elderly patrons?
You get what you allow.
Exactly.
Dont worry that will change. Here in the US they dont even have chairs anymore. Just a line and a couple bar stools. They took out all the seating and turned it into a standing queue.
“No seating without purchase over 20$”
Why not? It's an American company, so abusing them is patriotic?
You'd be lucky to get a coffee for $20 at that clip joint.
The aunties won’t adhere to these kinds of rules. They’ll keep doing whatever they want. The aunties and seniors have no shame.
@@brianchu3317 Elders are respected in China and there are no classes in China like in america.
In the first place, Starbucks should not allowed any entry unless you purchase a cup of coffee before entry. So they have to shift their cash register before their glass door. And keep away those outdoor tables and chairs to prevent any freebies aunties from taking advantage of the system
"Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks." As valid now as it was then 25 years ago.
Nice place to relax and smell the coffee aroma for free.
This is edited and fake anti china propaganda
I thought it might be cool to see Beijing or another top-tier city in China, despite their human rights abuses, but now that I know about 'gutter oil' and all the fake food, I would never set foot there. I can't imagine traveling to a country where you can't eat the food.
I am sure they are not going to miss you either.
Same here.
The aunties and uncles need commumity centers. Someplace like that Starbucks in the opening that's spacey enough that they can go be with their friends, maybe some people could donate coffee brought in from another store like starbucks if they like it. Starbuck's might even donate some coffee or muffins as it's in their interest to keep their seats free at certain times of the day.
you mean a battle royale pit?
They should have own organization to arrange rent-a-hall
Me and my colleagues do this for our badminton weekly activity 20 for an hour just 60-90 for 3hours weekend socializing ..just 5 buck per head for 18 people
They want to enjoy the comfort of the air-con and seats and ambiance without paying a cent while depriving genuine customers of their seats. Selfish lot!!!
@@hiobi1172 that's literally why they do it tho??? Shame is out when desperation is in
Starbucks is business franchise it needs sales income to survive.tbeir own country treat them as useless citizen that is why they are demanding the attention from foreign businessman if the franchisee is chinese.
they do the same thing in other countries they are tourists in. I see them sleeping on the display furniture at IKEA in the US. pathetic
The only thing is that in America, they will be woke up and told to leave. I know for fact.
Also in IKEA in Mainland China.
They do not. Lol
@@markarca6360 They have non respect for anything or anybody other than their MASTERS at the CCP.
@@rig4365 they actually do, videos of them even sleeping in the beds.
No customers coming then
Wait! Don't Chinese know that it's an etiquette to go in a restaurant and BUY something? The shops there are doing business, not opening an elderly day care.
typical chinese behavior... they believe they are a privileged race...
Unfortunately, the CCP is too busy stealing money to take care of its people.
my favourite topic : the infamous Chinese aunties ! can't stop laughing !...😂😂😂😂
Chinese have no shame
Does the city have a community center? Yes, it is called Star Bucks.
They are trying to be todays "hipsters" but without the "Trustfunds" or laptops.
Yes, its called the public toilet.
This is q display of anti-foreign business. You don't hear them complain when they get kicked out of a local restaurant for not buying anything.
a bookstore shutdown. they allowed people to sit there all day and read their books without buying them. so i wasn't overly surprised...but it was a bit sad.
on the door there was a sign that said "we're closed. if you came here to use the bathroom, suggest you visit amazon" 🙂
The most embarrassing moment my son and my self is when we visit a library looking for some mechanics book...while reading the book...I realized what sound I heard when we entered the library...a woman literally laying in the coach ...sleeping and snoring loud that everyone in the library either giggling and leaving...the librarian just letting her sleep...the snoring sound can really be heard inside the library room.
There was a really nice Barnes and Noble in Santa Cruz, CA that I used to go to a lot as a teenager. I read a lot more books than I bought, but, I did always buy coffee there and did purchase some books and magazines there too. I would never just go in to read, that seems lame. I think Powell's books in Portland is one of those places some people just go into to get out of the rain, read, and not buy anything though.
@boiivilla6327 in a just world the librarian would call the cops and escort the lady out.
@@MA_KA_PA_TIE not necessarily, i mean, in our university we got several libraries aswell, my kinda library the one regarding law for example got many places to sit and even lounge chairs to lay down, weve got so many people, well students sleeping there when it gets late in the day x)) and its allright, they exhausted x))
technically everybody can visit, not just students but since its on university ground, only students regularly visit that place :)) (btw its a state owned university, they are free for everybody in our state, technically you can even visit lectures as a non student, nobody will batch an eye-you just wont be insured if anything happens to you on university ground - also if the lecture requires smth like a laboratory visit, you of course will be barged from entering, but other than that a regular lecture, all good)
Borders is profiting until Amazon took it down. Got nothing to do with them allowing people to browse the books without buying.
They tried playing card games at upscale bars with minimal purchase but bars in shanghai quickly put a stop to it
These aunties and uncles don't get that if these foreign companies don't make money they will close up shop and leave. Then where will they go
They don't care.
Take all the seats!!!!!!!!
Time for Starbucks to leave China !!!!! This won't happen in Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Won't happen in the US either.
and scenario like in the video Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia only happen kopitiam or Mamak restaurant aka low tier restaurant aka street market which is make sense, not in Starbuck which is suitable for middle income or University student only.
and in the Philippines as well.
Wont happen in Singapore also!
You are so wrong. The global Gaza boycott muslim countries like mine, have caused massive losses to their business. The local franchise owner here is crying and pleading people here not to boycott his business since he has nothing to do with Isreal invasion. Not working. His customers are switching to our local coffee chains like Zus. So they better be grateful to the Chinese for not doing the same.
Easy solution - turn off the air conditioning and watch 'em leave or get heatstroke.
That would be inhumane towards employees 🤢
Humidity would rise from all those bodies, and the place would get hotter than outdoors due to body heat. That would drive the actual customers away because A/C takes out the odors in the air. As the A/C drags the water vapor out, it also pulls the germs and smells out with that water.
This would stop paying customers coming in though.
Are paying customers even showing up? Can they squeeze in?
I read about a shop owner who had a problem with "unruly" teenagers loitering and impeding his actual customers. He started piping Korean opera over the loudspeakers outside, that did the trick. Perhaps something the aunties find unpleasant for Starbucks indoor spaces? Others who would actually spend money might be amused by the tactic, I know I was.
i am a cancer patient and get tired easily, grandma and grandpa can catch these hands
Could not be happier for Starbucks
I remember their previous video saying their biggest Starbucks in China was falsely charged and taken down, and shortly after they made an imitation of Starbucks and sold a lot.
What a terrible scene. It must be smelly and noisy
Excellent point! Its an assault of all five senses!
Smell can't be worse than daily deposits of dog urine left in front of your residence.
i dont feel bad for starbucks at all. what a disgusting business, overpriced coffee, and pretentious customers. happy to see these old folks taking it over.
I don’t drink coffee and don’t care about Starbucks, but If you think it over price then don’t buy, people open business to make profit not for charity.
@@patcannon1763 thats right buddy. I dont buy it. Why would you think I buy it?

China belongs to elders. Go the fricking away
Eating seeds is a pastime activity.
In the Chinese cities, in the CITIES!
The toxicity of our city, of our city.
They should not be allowed to do that! It is called loitering!! Cite or ban them from being there.
This is pathetic and I would just call the cops and have them thrown out because they’re loitering. You’re not spending any money. You need to get out of there. I wouldn’t put up with this as a manager or a worker at a Starbucks or any store and any country and they’re being nasty at that.
The cops won't help you. You never call Chinese cops, It only brings trouble and demands for bribes.

This is why I dont like other parts of the world. People are loud for no reason in public. I thought to myself, why? Because you are rich and powerful? Is there a separation of class? Apparently, there are. Here in the USA, most citizens are respectful to others. We don't care how much money one have. Behave respectful in public. Be a model citizen. That's all i have to say.
I always wonder why some Chinese citizens behave as entitled. There's almost no respect for others, personal space, environment, surroundings, or etiquette.
Dog eat dog Maoist culture.
The real Chinese character, not respect... it is reflected on how their act internationally
Its about time to reassess doing business at and with China.
Unfortunately this also happens in Hong Kong.
7000 stores in China, and they're opening 2000 more, in the next year or so?! Nuts. They must be making some money there, then. I once saw 2 separate Starbucks stores on diagonal opposite corners of the same intersection. I think that was in downtown Vancouver, in Canada, years ago. But 9000 stores in China! That's nuts.
9700 right now in Shanghai only.
The quote 'OFFENDED BY EVERYTHING, EMBARASSED ON NOTHING' really applies to these indivduals.

I AGREE 👍 💯 IF YOUR NOT BUYING ANYTHING FROM THE STORE THEN YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO JUST SIT AROUND & LOITER INSIDE THE STORE THAT TAKE UP SPACE FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ACTUALLY BUY SOMETHING & CAN'T FIND NO WHERE TO SIT!!!
They demand free hot water then make a loud fuss until they get it.
It's not america. Whole country belongs to people there not to corporations.
I don't usually buy in Starbucks until my sister treat me with one of those capuccino, well it don't satisfy me 😅 I bought my fav coffee & blend it at home.
These aunties, elderly, and authorities have twisted sense of Confucianism and seniority.
It's ridiculous. Same problem at McDonald's. I got some food and I couldn't find a seat. What's worse is that most of those sitting weren't even eating anything from mcdonalds. I told the manager and he didn't care. At decathlon, the families go there on weekends or evenings to play with basketballs, ride bikes and jumb on trampolines. They don't buy a thing. Another example is when they go to supermarkets with live seafood. They take it as an excursion in an aquarium. I see kids using the nets to catch crayfish and shrimp/lobsters as a game, damaging the live seafood.
Does hot water in China taste better than cold or lukewarm water? Does the high temp hide the stink?

Fortunately those people don't have money to leave this country. People would be horrified by the lack of manners.
Even the ones that do have the money to leave the country don't have manners. The Chinese tourists are even worse than the UK tourists.
You need to look at the thousands of Chinese that flood through the southern border. Been under a rock??!!?
“Educate men without religion,” said the Duke of Wellington, “and you make them but clever devils.”
change the music
To get rid of teenagers hogging seats at donut shops they started playing Édith Piaf, Celion Dion and Michael Bolton in my home town. If Starbucks wants to get rid of these annoying non customers they should simply adjust the temperatures to be less comfortable when people start acting like this and then crank up the tunes with some music elderly people can't stand. Emo has a use and its to torture anyone and everyone over the age of 30. McDonalds engineered chairs that were uncomfortable for more than about 20 minutes to encourage people to buy eat and leave. Starbucks needs to realize that they aren't going to stay in business providing washrooms to junkies and free tables to people who are their to hang out/
LOL good .... never liked Starbucks
Then don’t go there. Others do. You don’t get to run businesses out just because you aren’t a customer.
