Excellent video on all fronts. Engaging, Simple presentation, without feeling dragging. Like the slight notes of cynicism when talking about the repetition of skills available across all the pets, Helps to break up the video without detracting from presenting the information in a easily understandable format. Well done Dakon The Mad.
I know glow is silly, but I want my kitty to be *shiny*. I hope that glow animals will eventually get an AI tweak to walk ahead of you in your input direction to really make them useful for just running around. I lucked out on my first Embertail and got 5x assert dominance on them. Dozen or so eggs later I got a 6x laser play kitty, and a 4x spirit animal....so close!
So some of them have both their own attack stats and stats to buff your attack stats. It will take a wile to get the one that has the best overall useful stats. What would be a great addition is to be able to breed or feed pets to get the stats you want. I think it will be fun to get a decent pet for solo players.
My first egg is an Embertail and she has a ton of Burning Anger perks available. She's only L6 so far but she RIPS, already man-fighting Wilderness mobs for me no sweat
the cat has a cool burn damage ability that deals all the burn damage at once to the mob. I have a burn build and when the cat's power procs all my burn instantly hits the boss and does a bunch of damage. Its really cool. The lava slime also does a lot of damage, more than any other slime because of its burn abilities.
@@DakonsMadhouse hum ok interesting, I'v done some testing of the pets and it seems like they are quite buggy, for me at least. Like for example some of them would just tranform into different color variations and some wouldn't let me rename them or even put points into their skill tree. Amazing video though i hope you'll make one that goes more in depth on the best perks for each perk !
You asked about colors that you didn't have. I have a black subterrier, a darker black than the ones you showed. I haven't used it yet. I'm afraid i won't be able to see it in dark corridors.
I can't see how Owlux with 4x Triple Trouble won't be meta, a 16% damage multiplier to all your damage should be optimal, the 5th should go into crit most likely, haven't done that math for that yet. As for the reason for 4, it seemed to be somewhat realistic to get, while 5 of the same trait just refused to drop in my about100 attempts in a creative world.
I got 5 of the same trait to drop for a bunch of them but the highest I ever saw for the triple damage was 4. I didn't go insane with my testing though.
For me it seems like the pet bonuses are bugged. My embertail had 3 +30% attack speed buffs as perk options. I selected all of them. Their attack speed didn't change one bit. You'd think 90% attack speed increase would be quite noticeable, especially with the huge delay between their attacks. Nothing. Started a new world. No change. Asked in the forums. Nothing. No idea what else to do, if there's a way to activate the buff or if it's just broken/nonfunctional.
thats worth reporting as a bug. it might not be working right. there hasnt been any real updates or patches since this update so its entirely possible.
I'm in a creative world, and I've been trying to get a pet for awhile now. I tried hatching an egg, I got the pet as an item. I put the pet in my pet slot, it goes in, but doesn't appear. Any ideas?
hi i couldnt find this anywhere, I just find info on what the treats do but how do you feed the treats to your pet? i haven't been able to figure that out.
Hey great video, but I’m having a problem with hatching eggs and it’s a bit frustrating tbh, I got the 3 eggs from the vendor, put them in 3 incubators and went to explore, I came back more than 30 minutes later and the hatching process didn’t move, they were still at the beginning of hatching, so in case it was distance related and chunks not loading, I stayed close and went afk, when I came back they didn’t move still… I found 2 terrier eggs while exploring and they don’t hatch :/ any bug with that ? I had something similar happening to my table saw, the animation works but for a moment it was not transforming wood into planks, so idk… any help ?
@@DakonsMadhouse Yes I did, there is a bug idk why but I crafted a new set of 1 incubator, 1 new generator and a basic egg, placed them further away and this one shows progression towards hatching while the previous ones still don’t and are stuck, the black overlay on the right square of the incubator UI doesn’t move, so hatching isn’t in progress…
@@DakonsMadhouse Yep I learned that watching your video but it is clear in my case that there is 0 progression, it’s been hours now since I put them in the incubators. I am filling their bug report form at the moment.
i got 2 trouble (2% to triple damage) and i hit time to time 2400 damage without crit and a bit of crit chance if u can optimise my build (3% crit chance) i can reach 5000.
frankly the slime one's aren't the best. The dog and rabbit seem to be people's favorites right now. The owl is popular also. I really like the rabbit. You can get the rabbit by breaking flowers in the wilderness. If you want a quick pet, the cat is good too and easy to get. Just buy it off the miner NPC.

FYI: Fighting Igneous the Molten Mass once can get a pet to level 7. It'll take 11 fights to get to level 10 though.
Got a +40% crit damage owlux it makes my build so strong.
Great info. FYI Puffing Up and Leap Attack changes to melee buffs for the slime/subterrier pets.
the Owlux Eggs are found in almost any crate. found 4 of 'em in an abandoned house
very cool! Glad they're more common than I thought they were.
The random perk chance they have is great for breeding a whole bunch and selling them to people who want specific perks
if only we could breed them.

I probably would have gotten the cat or lava slime for their glow so I wouldn’t need a lantern, but now that lanterns are free they aren’t as useful

My question is: Do our perks like the ones in the range skill tree for example buff our pets ?
they do not. and our pets buffs do not affect us, except the Owlux. All of its buffs affect the player.

the subterriers took me forever to find. It also took me ages to find the embertail. I never thought to check the vendors.

Nevermind, found out that if the world is paused the pet doesn't show up.
Do you know if it's additive or multiplicative? So if you would have 2x30% attack speed would it be 160% attack speed, or 1,3*1,3*100=169%?
additive. So if you have 2 skills that provide +15% you end up with +30%

put the treat in your hotbar and right click on it.

@@StardewDanny its all good! I can totally understand that fear. Its essentially the same action as eating it yourself but it just feeds the pet.

did you place a generator next to the incubator?
have you hooked up your incubators to power? they need the electricity generator to run.

hmmm. Might be bugged. You can report bugs on the Discord. Mine worked fine but hatching is slow. Some eggs take 30 minutes and some take 1.5 hours.

do they die easy? im curious how well they would do with bossing
they dont have HP and can't be killed. Bosses ignore them.
I don’t think they take damage.
they can take projectile damage if you are behind them

I got the slime by playing on the harder setting for the world.
I think slimes only spawn in hard mode
