  • Built this Router table base recently and thought I would share the design to help others who want to do the same. Save yourself a lot of money and its better than what you can purchase from Rockler or Woodcraft. I will never buy another mobile base again. This s so easy and if you take the time you can make a sweat mobile base for each of your tools.

Great idea! I've been looking for a design where the wheel doesn't stick out like most of the bases and this fits the bill perfectly. Thanks so much for posting.

Thanks for the very simple, straight forward explanation - your videos are certainly appreciated. I have looked at a good many ideas from other fellas, and your explanations are far superior to anything I have found out there - maybe it's because of the way I operate - envision, half-ass sketch, then get at er!! Looking forward to actually a couple mobile bases for a couple stand mounted tools (drill press and band saw. Tks for the effort you put into developing the vids - keep it up!!!

Really good concept. Combination of Holmgren and others. Love it. Can you add comments as to relative heights of sides , wheels and levers. Would help in adapting to other tools. Thanks.

I loved the Holmgren video. Watched it twice but already had the non moveable back casters mounted at the time so I could not copy his design. Thanks for the nice comment.

Nice design. The only isse with leaving the back wheels on the ground the whole time is that sometimes they will flatten over time due to the weight on them.

I'd love to see how you made the actual router table.

Very nice design and super clean! I love how everything is nearly completely hidden. Curious though... Do you think this would hold up a cabinet table saw for 5-10 feet of traveling across a shop floor? (I know that I would need to add in clearance under the cabinet for the mechanism to move up and down, beef up the hinges and have casters large enough to support)

Jay Pomykala don't know jay. I'm going to say probably not. You may need a beefier setup for a heavy tablesaw.

Thank you so much for this. I added to my new bench I made and actually used it to wheel from garage to shop. I posted to IG instagram.com/p/CHdeWclF5oV/? if anybody wanted to see (kind of hidden by design). I used poplar for main bar, a piece of walnut dominoed for toe kick, and a chunk of morado for the latch (poplar broke).
It was a bunch of trial and error (you warned) and trying to be stealthy and hide in the base was hard. Not bad for my first one, Thanks again.

Thanks and your workbench looks really nice. Appreciate the Instagram credit you gave me. I’m surprised this idea has not gotten more traffic as it is a great tool base for router tables and other cabinet based tools. Your wife’s comment hits home. My shop now has five of our nicest furniture pieces. And that’s how I like it!
