    In an effort to make better use of the space in my workshop, I made a mobile tool base for my drill press, and a drill press table with a fence and a stop block. This project only requires less than one full sheet of plywood. This tool stand could also be used for sanders and bandsaws, or any small power tool that would need to be elevated for proper use. I also incorporated five drawers for convenient storage of tool parts and accessories.

    That is honestly too nice looking to be used in a shop. Your drill press should be honored.

    quick tip; before gluing the 2 plywood layers, cut the hole out on the top layer first then do the glue up, saves a ton of time and router work. also just use the hole saw to make several inserts, if you're worried about the tightness of fit just put a strip of duct tape around the ring edge of the insert

    Great tip with the painter's tape and wood filler. Will be using that.

    Awesome build. I made one myself with your plans although I did add an inch to the width for extra stability and because it fit my predetermined space just a little better. Haven't tackled the table yet but I will.

    Great job! Looks great! I just finished building a very similar stand. Wish I had watched your video prior to starting. Your techniques would have helped me.

    You can also consider adding a section of adhesive tape measure on your fence to help increase spacing accuracy between holes.

    Very nicely done. Dennis from Hooked on Wood has a design that incorporates placing the T track for your fence to be embedded into the sides of the table so your fence stays square as you slide it back and forth. I will be incorporating both of your designs for my top.

    Firsties! This was great to see, I just bought a drill press and was searching to see what people had done, and this ended up in my notifications. Excellent timing!

    Very nice looking cabinet and table. at these dimensions do you find the drill to be sturdy and the stand is not tippy?

      Haven’t had any problems. The center of gravity on these drills are perfect

    Great video! thanks. going to get the plans. May I ask, Why you didnt use the 4 machined holes in the bottom plate of the drill? I though those slotted holes were for another use. Thanks in advance.

      More maneuverability. Also, the lever to adjust the platform height clashes. Rather than take out all 4 bolts, I can loosen and slide the table out of the way.

    Thanks for this video! Working on a similar build for my drill press! Do you recall how thick the black tape was that you applied to your hole saw for the flush trim bit to ride on was? I'm assuming that helped adjust the size of the insert just a little so it would fit more snugly, is that right?

    • @ArtisanMade
      @ArtisanMade  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes. I kept wrapping tape until is was a good fit, then I routed the insert

    When you stand in front of it, how does the table on the drill press come to about chest high, or is it lower? I think I might have build mine too tall.

    • @ArtisanMade
      @ArtisanMade  Год назад +2

      It is adjustable. The way it is set in the video, it’s at the height of my abdomen

    I noticed you bolted the drill press down along the track, rather than the provided 1/2” holes.
    Can you give any info on that choice? I presumed the holes indicated center of gravity on the press. And so, ideally they should be at the center of the cart’s structure if possible.

      Dude. It’s a cabinet with drawers and wheels. There are about 50 versions of these on RUclips. His wasn’t the first and I’m not the last. Don’t be one of those guys that has to take a shot at someone to feel important. If you want to post a comment with value, tell me how to make it better.

    No PPE? Prescription glasses are not safety glasses, you're making Norm sad. Also, a loose fitting hoodie while using a table saw that lacks both a blade guard and a riving knife is terrifying.
    Tools are great, but PPE is the most important set of tools you can buy.

    Wood filler over the painters tape??? It was not a good idea, and you can clearly see it at 5:10 the pin nails are still visible. Maybe you should have sunk them a bit more first :)
    6:45 any shift in plywood??? Nope, sagging will occur absolutely though.
    I liked the contour you have done on drawer faces. It gives more dept. Making drawers the easy way does not hurt but, it's a drill press table, drawers underneath will have drill bits, router bits, tap sets and bunch of heavy metal hardware, mine hosts lathe chuckcs etc, bottoms will be getting all the weight, you got the idea?
    We do not have all the tools but man, whatever you do, with youtube we have seen it at least hundered times and we tend to love caching errors and comment on them, like safety issues etc.
    I did not like the voiceover video with redkit music, I'd love to hear the sound of the drill press etc, but that's my preference.
