I really and truly love and appreciate this video . I have been looking at different videos because I really want to start my own buisness as a truck dispatcher but I was really getting frustrated with what I was pulling up. Thank God I came across your video and I have learned more from what I have heard so far then I have in the past week in a half of me going through others videos. I would really appreciate it, if you could help me with more videos or advice on how you got started and any knowledge on how to help me. I will take any help that you can give me. Again thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you.. Have a Super Blessed Day.
Thank you so much for this free game and knowledge. This was very informative for me, especially for someone who had no idea how to start in the industry! 🤑👍
This has been very helpful. As a shipper, we have received numerous carriers that come in stating they are picking up 20 pallets at 1 pound. We're loading them with appx. 42k pounds of wood pulp. I know this isn't on our end, since the loads are staged and the paperwork ready well beforehand. Since we're just a storage facility, would this be on the broker, just trying to get a truck in the door?
Powerful Stuff!! Very informative. Much needed. You touched on many things I did not know. My question to you is this: At what point do you bring up TONU/detention/layovers etc. with the broker? Do you just mention all of this when negotiating the load? Should I do it for every load that I try to book? How do I bring it up? I await your response. Thanks
I bring it up during negotiations and make sure it’s listed in the rate confirmation. Once you receive it ensure it matches what was stated during the booking. Thanks for viewing
Thank you so much for this information I have been struggling with looking for more terminology so I really understand and I could study what all this means... I have some questions 🤔🤔 when you get onto the load board are the runs/rides per state specified only?? Like if I live in started my business in California am I only able to dispatch rides that are leaving California or coming to California??🤔
Hello and thanks for viewing. On the load boards you can pull loads by city & state, or my state, you can sit anywhere and dispatch. Ex. Live in Georgia, dispatch for someone running out of Florida. You GOT THIS!.
No one goes on TL being total load. Its truck load. Exclusive for a move. Deadhead is something brokers won’t pay for. Your dispatcher has to negotiate the best rates. Power only, tractor itself is also called bobtail and their insurance has got to approve them on an interchange agreement.
Thanks for viewing I use total load and truck load interchangeably. As for deadhead I always ask for it, if you don’t please make it apart of your negotiation. Good luck
@@diamondsintherufflogistics2253 ill always factored in in when asking. Some brokers bait you a lot especially if they know that their pickup is in the middle of nowhere. They will have the actual pick city 200 miles away. Always ask the right questions. And don’t touch anything without a new rate agreement. We don’t sign up for driver assist unless its a box with liftgate and they carry a pallet jack.
If I'm doing Power Only and find a load out i could use, and need to fill it. When I'm in the DATBOARD what Code do i use to find, Example- PO for Power only, What code do i need to be searching under to find a way to fill the load out.
So if the driver goes to a scale house and their over they can be shut down yet at the same time if theres no scale at the shippers yard within the first 50 miles they need to be scaled. how do you prevent them from being shut down??
You're welcome! The carrier can check the rate con but to be honest at lot of times the weight is not correct on the rate con. The best way to get the accurate weight is to scale.
@@nickelswithnickelson6892 thank you so much for your wealth of knowledge. If the weight is off do we call the broker to have them send us a new rate con with the appropriate rate?
Love the this. I was a dispatcher for a few months and clerk/biller for 6 years processing B/Ls and know some of these terms and heard some of these terms nonstop. However, I didn't know what some of these meant and played it off smh
Do you negotiate the detention rate before booking the load with the broker? And why are 2 hours free? Why isn’t it that every hour after time of arrival is being charged?
Each broker will have their detention rate already set and it will be listed on your rate con. The 2 "free" hours is the industry standard. Thanks for viewing
@@trucking42.school oh ok. Thank you! i had no idea what it was called or what it meant when my boss said power load. lol. i drove flatbed i drove US Mail and now i drive a cement tanker pneumatic tank. the company also has power only and reefer and van loads in winter time when cement slows down. i drove 3 hours bob-tailed it with no trailer and when i got there they said i needed to have my own trailer my boss didn't tell me that. i have 10 years experience but still am learning new things all the time.

So do you have to weigh every load to ensure it's accurate?
Hello, and my rule of thumb is to weight anything over 35,000 lbs
What should be paid if the driver stays at the shipper over night and still doesn’t get loaded?
The broker should pay layover pay.
If I'm doing Power Only and find a load out i could use, and need to fill it. When I'm in the DATBOARD what Code do i use to find, Example- PO for Power only, What code do i need to be searching under to find a way to fill the load out.
Hello Nick on DAT you would select Other and each power only load that’s listed will have PO next to it. I hope that helps. Thanks for viewing.
So if the driver goes to a scale house and their over they can be shut down yet at the same time if theres no scale at the shippers yard within the first 50 miles they need to be scaled. how do you prevent them from being shut down??
Thanks for asking,,,,is he/she over 80,000? If not, they are good and may have to move their tandems, this is allowed is some states.
thanks for the info, but is there a way the carrier can check for the weight also? Wouldn't that be on the rate con?
You're welcome! The carrier can check the rate con but to be honest at lot of times the weight is not correct on the rate con. The best way to get the accurate weight is to scale.
@@nickelswithnickelson6892 thank you so much for your wealth of knowledge. If the weight is off do we call the broker to have them send us a new rate con with the appropriate rate?
What are the average requesting TONU, straps/blanket/blinder fees?
Hello, TONU can range between $150-$250. Straps, blankets and blinder fees vary.
