Back in '75 I was a 12 year old, 6th grade boy. My teacher caught me humming this tune...I am Woman in class. She made me stand up and sing it outloud in an attempt to embarrass me...it did not work. I sang this tune like I wrote it.
Here's a guy after my own heart!!! I'm transgendered M-to-F woman, inside my Soul. Stand up for your right to be what you are!!!!
---Lee
Lol that’s a lovely story. Good for u lol
Good
She sounds amazing. That is true talent. She can sing better than any new female artist today.
It's amazing that she still can sing like she did in 1970s. I can't get enough of this great singer.
Amen
That didn't deserve the polite applause she got... That deserved a STANDING OVATION with CHEERS! She still sounds awesome! No different from over 40 years ago! Bravo! Giet 'em Helen...
Umm she did get a standing ovation!
Kenneth Hoffman Get real
She had no idea then that this song would go down in history as a" Womans Anthem" and jumpstart the f**k out of the "women's rights" movement. It still holds true to this day.
I absolutely agree!!! I sing this song in karaoke, and there is NOBODY as great as she is singing this song. I'm good; but she's great!!!
---Lee
I agree! That audience was quiet or drowned out by the band......
One of the most stunning natural voices ever, and at 70 still fantastic.
Sad to read today of her passing....... one of my 1st concerts after getting married in ‘75, my wife and I got floor seats for Helen Reddy’s performance in Atlanta’s Civic Center (“floor seats”, yes, Row 244, unfortunately ALL 245 rows were on the floor)
*RIP Helen Reddy.*
You were such a class act and a gift to the world with your super musical talent.
RIP “She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
I’m sorry for your loss, I grew up to Helen Reddy’s beautiful music.
Her two children, Traci Wald Donat and Jordan Sommers issued a statement saying, ““She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
Forty five years later, same voice, same beautiful lady. Pure inspiration.
The fire was still burning in those fierce, beautiful eyes. RIP, woman...
Once a superstar .... always a superstar!
Whoa she is much better than Many of today.
My God she looks like grandma but sings like she did when she was young - wow. I so did not expect that. Great HELEN!!
Looks like a lovable grandma now....but sounds just the same that unmistakable voice!
SHE is still sooooooo good...and well said. Peace friend.
Someone said H wasn't 'singing' this anymore but "'speaking" it. Well if this what Helen gives, it's just above sensational! Woooow.
first you sing about it so later ppl can talk about it freely.
She is singing. Im not sure what they were talking about. Rest in peace
Wow helen can still belt a tune still sounds great 45 years later
She is still a wonderful performer.
RIP Helen Reddy
What a performer, what a professional, what a WOMAN!
She sounds wonderful. RIP Helen Reddy.
She has such a unique voice. I love Helen Reddy. Memories of my teenage years.
I was fortunate enough to see Helen Reddy 23 times Live in concert when she was still doing live concerts in the mid seventies and the early 80's . She was always excellent with a crystal clear voice. Her voice is still wonderful after all these years!1
I've been on a Helen Reddy kick now for weeks which led me to this video. Listening to this version of Helen live in her 70's is quite honestly the same as when she sang it in the 1970's...she is AMAZING and really is WOMAN HEAR HER ROAR!!!!!
All time greatest
poker
Dear Helen the Lord picked u to join his choir of Angels so REST IN PEACE ANGEL!!
She has gone to join another angel in heaven with a unique voice Karen Carpenter.
Helen Reddy has still got it.
Dang she still sounds great! One of my all time favorites. Her phrasing is unmatched.
Forget my foul language but I soooo love Helen Reddy!!!! She still has the fucking fire in her!!! What a great performance. God damn it just feels good to hear her belt out this beautiful song!!!! Hell yeah!!
She definitely was one of the Best ... RIP Helen ❤
This chick can still sing damn!
I love her
I LOVE THIS! What an icon! And her voice to the song sounds EXACTLY the same as it did in the 70's! You also still look AMAZING, Helen!
I did NOT expect her to sound that good! Wow! So underrated!
Love that lady!!!
Very impressive. You close your eyes and you're back in time 45 years ago. Wow.
still sounds great.
She is still amazing. Wow!!!
I am a Gay Man also and I also love Helen Reddy!!! She has been roaring for years!!
I agree
love this song, Love You Helen!
I am going to see her tomorrow night in concert on Long Island, in Farmingdale at Ellsworth W. Allen Park. I can't wait. I'm going to see her with my mother and my favorite aunt. I was born in 1973 and I have loved her voice and songs since childhood.
Great and strongly motivating song for women.
I love this more than the period videos. They were all clones of the recording. This is just wonderful live.
wonderful!!! What an icon of our times... and in her 70's she sings this with even more conviction and understanding of her own words, even more character, than in the wonderful Midnight Special concert in 1973!
Never heard of this woman, but what a character and what a voice. Thanks for sending this to me. I loved it
Jaap Cost Budde I wouldn't admit that out loud again; especially if that's you in your avi ... because you're clearly older than her ... just sayin.
+Jaap Cost Budde How in the hell can you have been upon this earth for X amount of years and claim to have never heard of Helen Reddy? I just don't get it. Did you completely black out the seventies? She ruled the 70's and was a diva before it was cool!
Helen is one woman besides my mom that NEVER stops amazing me. She is as awesome, beautiful and heart warming now as she ever was. God Bless her and hers forever.
Love her voice! She's a true star!
What a class act.... Gonna miss you....RIP
Helen has been singing again recently and she still has that distinctive voice, strong and crisp, and that powerful phrasing.
love it, love it!
agree - love her sound! And we see new artists cover her songs, but she is the original!

God bless this woman.
If I ever went to her concert, I would cry like a baby, she has always been my hero.
I have heard a lot of the great performers from the past singing live 30 or 40 years later on youtube and none of them sound even close to as good Helen Reddy sounds! Man, her singing voice is amazing, and exactly the same as it was back in the day. Incredible.
March 8, 2015 international woman's day. Forever.
I Love Her Beautiful Strong Voice She's so Beautiful I'm so Thankful for this song of Empowerment for Females ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I saw her perform the other night and she was incredible! She can still hit those high notes. When she came out on the stage I actually had tears in my eyes. I've loved her for so long and never thought I'd have the chance to see her live. I was beyond thrilled when she came out of retirement.
She was amazing and left us with such a legacy. This song will always be relevant. Rest in love.

The one and only great Helen Reddy!!!
Love this theater. I missed this show. I had it on my list, but chose some other great artist. Love Helen , played her records all throughout the 70's.... and still rock her today!
May She R.I.P.
Thank You and Angel Blessings, Helen!
I remember seeing you in 1972 at Indiana University. You were the headliner to Isaac Hayes and Mac Davis!! Good to see you still going strong!!!
Wow, her voice is crystal clear - amazing she still has it!
Wow what a great talent, and an inspiration for millions of women, you were great Helen
One of my absolute favorite singers, saw her in Vegas a few years ago. Great show, voice was still great after all those years. R.I.P. Helen Reddy
Great theater too!
What a treasure.Feel blessed to have grown up with her music.
Best version of this song I have ever seen. Helen rocks!
When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s and time where particularly hard at home. I would when I was upset play the record I am women watch me roar. This song more than any other I have every heard made me the person I am today. It gave me the strength to question and to stand up for myself take no crap from anyone. To question things and to fight for the underdog and never to accept anyone who puts you down, So Thankyou Helen Reddy.
Oh, God bless her. The memories are flooding back.
So great to see and hear her again! A real Icon of Muic!
She is sooooooooooooooo amazing!.
She is like 98%real.... Nobody is 100%
tina-marie Ayer This will be an interesting test. Conventional wisdom within the entertainment industry dictates that a female celebrity cannot remain real, but must instead undergo repeated plastic surgery and liposuction to try to maintain a young appearance, because audiences supposedly do not want to watch an aging performer because it reminds us that we're all aging. If Cher and Madonna didn't do all that, supposedly no one would go to see them in concert. Well Ms. Reddy is ignoring that "wisdom" and choosing authenticity instead. So will it work? Will she draw crowds? I hope so. Nothing against those other performers, but I get really tired of all the phoniness. It sets a bad example to the world about our values.
You really hit every nail perfectly on the head. You are unfortunetly so right about the entertainment world. For all of the artists who had to have to much fame and fortune. God bless their sad asses.
Musicians like Helen Reddy, Carol King, Neil Diamond.... This list goes on.
She did draw crowds at her last tour!!!
Helen looks terrific and sounds wonderful here. Always enjoyed her music and personality. RIP Helen!
Sad to say, but her voice is way past its best. Time was when she could send shivers down my spine with her singing and send me to places that no other singer could ... but that was 35 years ago.
God bless her.... RIP Helen Reddy an icon of the 70's
She had a beautiful voice.
She inspired me when I was a little girl to believe in myself when no one else did she sing awesome
She is an inspiration to many, often her songs helped me feel stronger. Many women in other cultures across the globe suffer and would take in her words. The translation of this to other languages would be grand and would inspire other women. Seeing her here now I am now not so afraid of age as it too can be beautiful it's what you make it, thanks a mil.
Beautiful voice of all times. One of my top favorite singers
She still sounds great!
Outstanding! Wow. She's still just as awesome as she was in the 70s.
such a sweetie great voice
She looks very well for her age, but close my eyes and just listen to her voice and she's still the svelte, glamorous singer in the 1970's Johnny Carson ' Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress)" clip I just watched - her voice is still amazing!!
I like it when artists take care of their voice and still have the chops.
Still got some pipes! Sounds great!
Her voice is in REMARKABLE condition. I lamented when she retired ten years ago...and I'm so glad she's back!
