I had my virtual onsite 2 weeks ago and received an offer for an L6 role.
I've been watching a lot of your videos over the last two months Dan and I can say that they played a big role in my preparation, thank you.
Be prepared to answer Why Amazon and tell me about yourself? I can't stress enough how important it is to have multiple examples for the leadership principles. If you have a few standout experiences, try to frame them to MULTIPLE LPs. I was asked questions that weren't quite what I had prepared for so I had to adjust my best experiences to suit the focus of the question.

Catina Scott congrats! How long it took amazon to extend you the offer? It’s more than 5 business days since I did my loop but still no answer, is it a bad sign? When should I follow up with recruiter? Thanks

I have one suggestion though; the bell sound when transitioning into different rounds is extremely loud when I have my headphones on. Not sure if others are having a similar experience.

Hi Dan - is it ok take a 10-15 sec pause before you answer a question in the loop for some questions ? At times, you can't recall back immediately , hence is it ok to take few seconds ?

@@DanCroitor Thanks, was quite an intense day, most of the questions were probing my initial responses and there were some duplicated questions.
UPDATE, looks like all the prep, guidance and ensuring i had examples where I demonstrated the LPs were put to good use! I have been provided with an offer and have accepted, thanks for the videos and knowledge of the process :)

Hey Dan great video. I like the question on Have Backbone, Disagree and Commit. Total threw me off cause I was expecting the typical "Tell me about a time where you disagreed with your boss". Anyways any advice on how to not freeze up when I encounter a question that I haven't seen in your videos before? I have an onsite tomorrow for an SDE 1 position. Wish me luck.
I have a question regarding the amazon LP for like a new grad role. Because a lot of them seem like very hard for someone without much work experience to answer because simply never been in such a situation. Would you mind sharing a list of LP and questions that applies to new grads or really early career? Thank you!
People don't fail these interviews because they don't have an answer to some behavioral question but because they don't have a convincing story; the quality of your stories is far more important than anything else.
you'll never find a perfect list with such questions, these are just for testing yourself; if something doesn't apply to you, then most likely it won't get asked during your interview either.
Will the leadership principles be the focus of the entire loop, or would they at some point also ask business case questions? I’m interviewing for a vendor manager role. Thanks!

Hi Dan, Is it acceptable to repeat the examples from telephonic rounds in the onsite for the LP?
Great question, I'm wondering the same.
I re-used a couple of the experiences which I used in telephone rounds, though they were framed for different questions. So for example, same experience for a question based on 'invent and simplify' but I used the same experience for 2 other questions during onsite, but focused on different LPs. There has to be enough content that you can answer it in a slightly different way.
@@Mkeee Hey pal, so i understood you used the same experience for 2-3 onsite questions, were they with the same interviewer or with different ones ? I tried using the same example trying to cover a different LP role but I was told to change the scenario/example.
How many questions can we be expected to ask per interview? Trying to understand how to manage time.
usually 2-3; in some cases there might be rapid fire rounds..

@@DanCroitor I think prep is the key, going through the questions you provided, and having 3-4 stories for each leadership principle helped a lot. I also used your website to find people to do mock interviews which was incredibly helpful.
@@DanCroitor I do have one other request. Can you do more videos on management role questions? There are lots of things to cover like how to coach, support, empower a team. How to manage good and low performers, avoid politics, do one and ones, and build a team.
