I completely agree! As a "foreign" colombian, I love going back home to see Medellin's nature. And when I talk to people about how much I love my country, all they ask me is about the sex tourism, and its just so sad. My country is so much more than that.

It's not like Miami...It's like everywhere in the world...You want tourism dollars?...That's how it goes...Europe, Asia, So.America or No.America (Miami)...Miami is safer than Colombia, if you take the policing and laws into perspective...Plus in Colombia there is rampant price gouging on tourist, while in the US, it's against the law...It's pricier in tourist areas, but still kept an eye on, because other business owners don't wan to loose their customers over the spoiled apples...

its pretty much miami now. i found the women in Medellin to be entitled and narcissistic. wanting to take IG videos at the gym, etc....they were not friendly or flirtatious at all, they just wanted money.

I'm in Montreal. I wouldn't go to Colombia for the women, they are super over rated and harsh gold diggers. Women in Montreal are way, way hotter and speak English. If you go Colombia, go for the country. Forget the women.

Some of us like myself went there for the same reason. After a while you get used to the culture and stay away from the sex scene. It has in a way become like a paradise for me . I settled down with one woman. I can travel anywhere for 50 dollars and visit the whole country. Also it has brought me back to good values.

As a Colombian that lived in Medellin 10 years ago I found the city in decadence. Not because politics but culture in general. Reggaeton culture is taking over it . Paisas wanna wear trashy, there’s a gangster and perreo culture. Totally agree with you. Some foreigners became this place into a brothel. Flights from the USA to Medellin are occupied 80 % by men. You know what that means . Lleras park used to be trendy and fashionable now is full of prostitution and street vendors. I’ve never seen so many indigenous people dancing and begging for money and that’s sad . hope things change for good soon .
I really agree with you on the people from outside of Colombia trying to bring their personal culture to Colombia and complaining endlessly about the food, about the culture and don't feel like they should adapt but that Colombia should adapt. It's totally an absurd concept. I'm not a Christian and finding what fits with you it's what's the most important. People looking for something else are on a fools errand.

The media on all platforms has contributed to this idea that you are going to find your perfect woman in another country. The European/Western attitude toward women from other countries is perceived as simple or easier to deal with. On some level, this may be true, but just like Wes said, it depends on your perspective. People are going places where their money goes a long way and abusing the normal interactions between them and indigenous people. This, in turn, has an impact on the interaction you would normally have. No need to be flashy. Just try to fit in as closely as you can with respect to the natives of that country. Travelers need to do better.

I would say this is the opposite of true. Most media goes out of there way to either sweep Geomaxing from a dating perspective under the rug or put it into a negative of light as possible.
The reality is...you absolutely get more "bang for your buck" in terms of dating in foreign countries. Women are less fat, less ageist, and typically more appreciative of a guy providing for them and the bar for what is considered "wealthy" goes down considerably making it much easier to stand out.
Honestly, nobody with a brain thinks Colombian women are different than American women. Most women want the best they can get. The difference in Colombia and America is the bar for success is much, MUCH lower over there and they don't have an obesity epidemic so there's more fuckable women...that's basically it.

Completely agree. As someone of Colombian origin, I do agree. Hence the reason many Colombians just leave. Seriously there are a lot of Colombians that do not fit into the mainstream cultural Colombian mold that is often portrayed by the media/ propaganda. There are plenty of decent Colombian people who just love this world and respect others.

Hey Wess, as a Colombian American because I do have dual citizenship through my parents but I couldn’t agree more with what your saying. And I feel like a lot of it has to do with what people see in moves and the music especially from the states. They come and exploit woman because they don’t make any real money and they want to act like they can dangle that over their heads and they take advantage because how strong the dollar is in Colombia. For someone who speaks some Spanish, is interested in learning about the culture, and isn’t interested in getting high all the time, Medellin is still a wonderful place and it’s easy to meet tons of great people. If you come with the mindset that you’re going to use people, I promise, you’re more likely to get used. Even dating apps like tinder can be great - but not if you’re looking to hook up the first night. You’re gonna get wrecked one way or another if that’s the mindset.
As you would in any large city anywhere else in the world.

At first I thought wow, she really changed in a short period of time, then I realized it was more likely that who she really was the entire time and played a role in our relationship.
Last year in 2021, I was on a flight to SF and sat next to a middle aged Asian man who was coming back from Colombia. I asked him if he went for business or pleasure. He ssid he went for the women and night life. Had a great time too. Same old story as with many foreigners. Its happening all over the world. I was on a flight coming back to the states, and had caught a minor head cold back in 2021. The guy next to me was slightly annoyed and offered cough drops, speaking to me in spanish. I told him thanks and I guess this opened up to him about asking me about my trip. Well, he proceeded to hog the conversation and brag about all the girls he had engaged with, some in medellin and 1 in bogotá. He even showed me their papayas and tatas. I was slightly intrigued and moreso uncomfortable because I didn’t want to say that I had went down there for men (and language learning, ofc). 😂🫡🤫 All to say, halfway through the flight he realized I wasn’t hispanic and didn’t know spanish all too well, but he still pushed that I talk to one of the girls to set something up for my next trip. Real pushy.

I'm still planning on seeing Colombia for myself but I can't sit back and say that it doesn't burn to see American influence slowly infiltrating the country. If this influence becomes more widespread in the long term, it could mean game over for the country of Colombia and South America culturally.

Absolutely, the abortion issue that started in Argentina is creeping along throughout Colombia and the rest of the L.A. countries. So the difference b/w the U.S. is diminishing.
Soon that may change. Roe V. Wade is overturned so other countries may follow suit. However, I wonder if Government made abortions legal because the amount of women getting pregnant from sex tourism. You make several good points in your video. I have been going to South America since 1989. During my first trip I went toBuenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro. I have also been to Montevideo, Lima, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador da Bahia, and Caracas. I started visiting Colombia in 2018. I have been to Medellin, Bogota, Cali, and Cartagena. I usually go to Medellin two to three times a year.
A lot of guys go to Colombia to party. They are into the hookup culture or prepagos. They have a distorted view of Colombia. Most Latin American women are conservative and don't hookup with foreign men on the fly. Unfortunately a lot of RUclipsrs put out false information and fantasies to get views. Many single men are getting drugged and robed in Medellin by female thieves because they want to hookup with a woman they have never met before.
A real relationship takes time, effort, and communication. A lot guys go Colombia not knowing a lick of Spanish and expect to find a serious girlfriend on the first day. I tell them that a real relationship takes time just like in the states. They learn the hardway on that one.

This system is the end result of poor availability of birth control and also lack of any legal financial responsibility from men in this culture in the form of child support.
2 months ago Colombia Supreme Court legalized abortion. While there has always been means for middle and upper class women in Colombia to access abortions..this was impossible for poor women until now

@@WheresWes I think it's not helpful to generalise and stigmatise single mothers in that way. Similarly the demonising of Venezuelans from previous comments is unhelpful. I would hope that Christians would be more charitable to people who are in most cases, struggling every day to put food in their families mouths. Other than that I agree that Colombia is full of wonderful, warm people (including many Venezuelans) and that the stereotypes perpetuated by the media and by certain you tubers is very sad.
I know how for good, ordinary Colombians how they have to put up with so much when they simply travel. They get lots of hassle going through customs and have to jump through hoops to even get a tourist visa. Most Colombians are very law abiding, honest and decent people. So let's promote that counter image, but also not attack Venezuelan migrants or poor single mothers at the same time for the problems that do exist within Colombia. As foreigners It's really important to do research and ask why there are so many Venezuelan migrants. As a guy born in the USA with a Spanish background and look like the American tourist these Latin women want, I can agree with one thing is that in the past 5 years places like Colombia,Dominican republic,Brazil,Mexico have already been westernized to a large degree. Yeah you might find some women you can give money for easy intercourse. But lets be honest finding a wife in those countries should not be a good option. Since in my state and city has a huge Latin background, A lot of these Latin women who come from those places to the USA already show that they been westernized. If men want to try for women I guess they can go to Thailand or Philippines but I give it at least 5-8 years before that goes downhill also because a lot of the tourists are starting to move elsewhere to find a partner. So in conclusion modern day feminism and social media is going to turn every country around the world like the USA where dating is a waste of time. 💯🤷🏻♂️

There are those that just vacation / visit and those that want to embrace the culture and expat or visit more long term. If you are just visiting, you're not likely to attempt to learn the language. I think a lot of "grimgos" espicially from the usa have ruined the dating scene and w0men in medellin. Dont want to sound like a simp but a lot of these gringo dudes have bad intentions when searching or meeting these women.
I found the feminism was quite minimal and almost non existent in colombia, espicially when you compare it with argentina and brazil which is just as bad as the usa when it comes to feminism.
I found colombian women better girlfriends/ wives then brazilians and argentinians. The colombians are more family orientated and christian. With colombians they are more feminem but it means you have to be "the man" and pay for everything (which i dont mind)

In other words men from the US that complain about feminism is technically bringing feminism to these countries. I went in September 2021- felt safer there than I do in the States. I loved it there, I was disappointed by some people on the plane assuming I was visiting for the women because I traveled alone. I got the courage to travel alone from watching travel channels - best decision I’ve made. You’re fortunate that nobody ever accused you of being a sex tourist. You’re settled in nicely like others on RUclips and decide on making blanket statements about tourism. If you don’t look for trouble, trouble will have a hard time finding you. Pretty simple - applies to everyone.

The same thing has happened to me when I traveled there to see my girlfriend and her son. People it seems always want to think the worst, but I can understand when there is a lot of promiscuity in their culture. It has been there before any foreigners entered Colombia. I've read the statistics on how married couples cheat on each other and it is terrible. It is a problem with the heart that only God can fix, but people have to be willing to bow the knee and seek the Lord. If I settle there, I'm going to speak the gospel to people everywhere I go because they need to know Jesus.
I live in the US. Sometimes I feel like the "unicorn" traveling because of that sterotype of foreign women being more sexual or 'easier.' When I travel, I'm traveling because I want to see a different area/country/place, I grew up traveling. Sure, I want to check out the nightlife too but I don't expect to get laid every night. I honestly just treat it like I do in the US, I'm going out to have fun with friend and have some drinks. If I meet a girl out then so be it but I'm not strictly going out to get laid. I literally had a girl on a first date ask me if " I did drugs and prostitutes" when I told her I had been to Bogota, Colombia. I know plenty of Colombianas who don't even really date or go out much, or even drink. they are very feminine and just want sucessful men who will treat them right, the same as any other woman. A lot of these guys think they can come to Colombia and just get women. Women are more picky about etiquette in colombia and the good ones are more conservative.

I find that funny that men from America complain about hookup culture here and say its western feminism but yet they go to Colombia and do the same. Only difference is its easier for the average man to participate in hookup culture in Colombia because of the strong US dollar. Women there see them as high status men with wealth. Good video as a black man I think most of my people go there for the wrong reason. Also most Americans go there and don’t learn the language or even try. I have traveled the world and it goes so much further when you try to learn the culture and language. My rule is always have respect for the country you are in and blend in and try to have an open mind. I travel to Medellin often every couple months and I have loved it.

So the "choose better" rhetoric becomes absurd when the selection of males to begin with is very poor. Even when the males are "present" in the home, the female is the one who does most of the child rearing. We do this on top of working 40 hrs/week, carrying most of the emotional labor of the relationship, psychological maintenance of the home (Ex. Do we need to get more bread/milk? Are Jimmy's clothes ready for school the next day?), physical maintenance of the home, and after all of that we're STILL expected to be excited to sleep with you guys! So yeah women should choose better by choosing themselves. They should stay single and childless so they don't have to deal with the stress and foolishness that men bring.

I lived in Medellin in 2018 for several months, and went back for the first time last week for a friend’s bachelor party. I was horrified to see how the sex trade has grown there since the pandemic. It’s unfortunate foreign men think there is any value in paying for sex when most of these women are either economically exploited or directly exploited by drug gangs. Most of these woman loathe the situation they are in and the men who pay them. I couldn’t really live with myself or enjoy that sort of situation.
Overall paisas are lovely and very easy to date, I just make sure to meet educated middle class women who don’t need or want my money, only my time and affection. I dated a lovely doctor when I lived in Medellin and I wouldn’t have traded our relationship and intimacy for any amount of sex/women. I wanted to buy an apt in Medellin, but now might look at a Cali, manizales, baranquilla etc instead. Those places have similar problems but not at the scale of gringo economic exploitation found in places like Medellin or Cartagena.

A country cannot be simply destroyed just because you say so. Colombia is much more than what you are observing. @@caveman357 definitely didn’t ruin Colombia. You can say that parts of Medellin and Cartagena are ruined. But those are only 2 small areas of a couple major cities within a huge country. That doesn’t ruin an entire country, the further you get from the tourists zones the more authentic Colombian experience you will have.

I have been to many countries from being in the military for 27 years. I'm 45 years old and I first went to Medellin when I came back from the Middle East in August of 2021 at the request of one of my good friends. I am glad I went. I am from New Orleans and a black man, so our cultures are very similar. I went with two other friends and with the thought of going to a major city and what all that entails. It rained a lot, but we still loved it. I met a 22 year old woman who's originally from Venezuela and we hit it off pretty good, but she is always asking for money. I get why why does; Venezuela is worst off than Colombia. I went back again to Medellin in November of 2021 and thought it was still great. I met a 37 year old woman after I left through a mutual friend and she is awesome. She is more a match for me than the 22 year old. I'm going back in May and I am strongly considering living there once I finally retire.
Bottom line- it is what you make of it, as you said. I don't know much Spanish, but I'm learning and my friend is helping me. I don't drink, smoke, or go to clubs, but I've been with my friends. Medellin has just about anything a person wants. I love the atmosphere and the environment. I fell in love with Medellin! 😊😁
