To be honest, this stupid ban is because of all these little boys trying to act cool/tough by speeding and riding on the roads especially at night.
Thing is I saw all those food panda, grab and normal pmd users just ride past them without saying anything also, if they spoke up instead of keeping quiet, then there might be less accidents and the ban might not come, at least not so soon.
Did you see the fatal accident due to a PMD rider speeding? Pls search it up
@@jun5836 Near misses also count and these cannot be searched online because it is not reported. And doesn't mean it is not reported it doesn't matter.
Can you tell someone just because they are not knocked dead now it doesn't matter? Or you want to wait until MORE people die first then start doing something.
Agreed, but there are still some Food deliveries speeding fast as well and on the pavement , it says "no riding" but they just dont listen
@@Catty889 exactly
Maybe special license for food delivery thru the company they deliver for, but not the rest and license only applicable only when they use the escooter for delivery. This way authority know who are the authorised escooter users vs errant riders. Of course if the authorised user break the rule by speeding and riding irresponsibly or dangerously, normal ban and punishments will apply on them. This is to ensure the ssfety of the majority of the population (99% ?)
In life, never ever try to open the "Pandora's Box...!!!" Now, it's difficult to control it already...!!!☝️😬🤨
Who create this problems ? Right from beginning, if escooter riders behave, then it shouldn't be problems. Now that because of mishavior , LTA is right to total ban of e-scooters. Even you have paths for e-scooters, errant riders still have problems.
🤔..vehicles on the road more worse compared to pmd. Many walkers died while walking on the pavement. LTA Should ban them too?
@@jasnora4781Don't be silly...!!!😐
Long time ago we do not have E/scooter but bicycle live still going on .Frankly say they only make singaporean more lazy n selfish.
There should be more mixed paths or E scooter paths.
Expensive to make ah that's why.. Haish..
Salty Troopa paint shared paths on all the walking pathways
the country already so small, where got space. If they had space, they would have made a cycling lane already.
@@RukaSubCh seems like the best option
JulzCentral you see the thing is, when people are given something nice, majority of it take advantage of it. Don’t get me wrong, not everybody is speeding, but almost 80% of all the foodpanda/grabfood are speeding. And some of them even stare at us, like it’s not our road to walk. And I’m not saying 1-2 I’m saying more than 30 riders I’ve seen staring at us. I understand some people follow the rules, but look at ofo, we get something good but because of the few rotten Apples, we lost everything that’s good.
The number of riders saying that the ban is bad. they should ask themselves when nobody is looking did they speed? Did they go above 10km/h?
Sir, you jaywalk? Never even once?
Of course they r not stupid enough to admit...!!!☝️😐

The cooked food delivery was originally delivered by motorcycle and van by the fast food chain more than 30 years ago. Therefore, food delivery should revert back to using motorcycle and van.
Precisely.
30 years ago was less crowded (not many immigrants too) and less food joints. Lets face it, more delivery vehicles means more fossil fuel used and crowding the streets unnecessarily.
@@workshare9207 - PMD battery need to be charged by electricity supplied from the power station generator using fossil fuel.

I think those who use e-scooter for work should be allowed with special licence. I don't agree with the ban completely. Asking people to move from e-scooters to fuel moterbikes is not a progressive step. I thought we should be reducing Co2 emission as well so what about that ?
Want to find E scooter riders riding on foot paths? Go to any primary school and wait for dismissal time there you will find parents and maids ridding these scooters on foot paths fetching their kids back home.
Its like saying we should ban cars just becuz of car accidents. Seriously....
@Baruku SG Roads used to be for horses and before that, for pedestrians. Ban cars from roads.
@Baruku SG ban all cars, use buses and train better... HAHAHA
good move to ban all these nonsense. you take it for granted, now you get what you deserved.
👏👏👏Thanks for your sarcastic remarks. Bad karma is on your way..
I agree to the ban for the sake of the old n young. I don't mind going out to buy food even if less convenient than delivery.
@@medialcanthus9681 👏👏👏walk the talk👌✌️
Issue commercial licenses!
The problem with that is how much man hours that would need, banning them would be much more efficient. Also people who receive licenses may also continue to abuse their power to use PMDs in the first place and continue speeding, same as with people who get driver's licenses or motorcycle licenses, but PMDs are much easier to abuse
@@jun5836 then put iu unit like the one found in cars and motorbike then can track the pmd riders and have it linked to speed sensor, like if they exceed 30kph it sends lta a message and then get fined

Riders are still everywhere, how to control the ban?
That's why the govt shdn't start...!!!☝️🤨
if this was in America i expect SNL skits
Perhaps Gov can allow the food delivery e scooters on the streets and footpaths. I sympathise the riders who rely on this job to make a living. Unfortunately there are errant riders who don’t care the lives of the pedestrians.

If the speed had a limit on the scooter to a slow jog there should never be a issue
Jody Strickland Agree. Just like when you enter the pit lane in a F1 race, you limit your device to a safe speed. Once back onto the approved paths, then full throttle you go! 😃 Govt should create a class 1 license for pmd ownership. And after which follow exactly what you're doing to motorcycles, do it to pmds. Just my 2 cents worth. 😃🙏

Hmm not all gun owner , are murderer . So they should let us bear guns ?
Let's bring to parliament 😁
Guns are guns. Pmds are pmds. This arguement is ignorant. We have to look at things subjectively. Not make swiping statements like such. There's a way to solve this problem at hand in a civil way. We just have to find that way.
I still see ppl riding on the road and pavement. WHere are the LTA? They must be caught and fined. Jail!!!
When the delivery guy earns more money with their PMD, they don't complain, but then complain when it's back to the supposed normal earning rate.
Just get a bicycle and then it also promotes exercise lol good for everyone and not as bulky blocking most of the path
If only from the start youngsters don't be so reckless and all and for the sake of trill, and attitude problem say on foot paths they horn you then ask you make way for them where they should be the ones making way for pedestrians.
So many warnings have been given previously but apparently PMD riders didn't care, which is why the number of accidents have been increasing as well as unhappiness that arise from pedestrians.
But I understand that some people need it for the job, so maybe for food delivery companies, all their PMD riders have to get a special licence just like normal car/motorbike licence that only when one meet the age and health criteria can they take the theory and practical test only then will they be allowed to ride their PMDs on foot paths. ONLY FOR FOOD DELIVERY RIDERS.
The normal PMD riders should just stay on their park connectors or bicycle path lol since they don't need it and should not be so lazy and bring additional inconvenience to others.
Haha agree with everything you said. I doubt many would want switch back to cycling since they have enjoyed the convenience of speed and less effort of using pmd. For some, it is just a matter of adapting. I did not know so many people got to rely on this job. Hopefully we will have more job creation for our people. Let's see. But for now, it is much safer with lesser pmd on the footpath.
PMD riders are not limited to youngsters with bad attitudes and food delivery riders. If people just want to commute short distance, PMD can save a lot of time. There's no reason why they should be forced to cycle or walk if they are not speeding, keep to the side and not cause trouble for anyone
@@LOLnoodleLOL Just as you said, people buy PMDs to save time travelling. And they save that time by speeding. If you read the news reports, the one thing most PMD accidents have in common is the rider was speeding. And since you will never be able to stop PMD riders from speeding...draw your own conclusions.
It is a mistake to just look at the footpath length and ignore the width. Footpath are generally not wide to accomodate pmd, bicycle and pedestrians. These are simple logic yet those in charge failed to see it !!!...sad isnt it?
Shitty comment. How often do you see all the three - bicycle, and and pedestrian walk together in one path other than those crowded city areas

Most people don't care because they are not affected.
The auntie who passed away was a cyclist, and the man who had an accident was due to his own negligence...BUT ST using THESE 2 examples as FEAR MONGER that riding on foot path is dangerous... that could happen on PCN too. Please be creative in giving the right facts.
Fact is, that is what the media is good for, creating fear. I suggest you to use social media in your local community to spread this message.
I just saw two escooter riders..
Just blame the yps.
Ban e scooter, too many fire in recent months. It affect the old n young. Now feels safer when walking around. Thank you 🙏🏻. As for food delivery please think of other ways. I have witnessed many e scooters speeding and even on the road. Just waiting for another accident.
Isn't this like about vehicle having cyclists inside instead of engine: hidden torture, hidden cyclist job(the petrol as ethanol hand wash to bath) - it is summarising to ban an inventor anyway if using a different way, maximum speed can be set directly buying from the shop, common sense of user won't want to accident anyway, something precious just buy then "to teach about speed" is a harassment motive, an unspotted injuring-movement.
The end of this social experiment.
Tbh not bad le LTA give $100 for used escooter, lets say the scooter u have rabak alrdy then can sell to LTA for $100 then can go buy cheap bike like aleoca or 2nd hand one. Provided u registered you e scooter la :) 😂😂
People bought UL2272 scooters just a month ago for over $1000. No way they're giving it back for 10 cents on the dollar.
Make it only food delivery done.
9:20 the computer tho sure thats okay?
Not all people can walk. PMD is a good news for mobility challenged people. This law requires better study rather than immediate banning.
Ban ban ban , cars also crash into ppl why not ban cars
No PMD on footpaths... Then... On the road?... Or well... more road accidents in future maybe?
No PMD on the roads too.
Ask goverment bulid more pcn lor
Here cannot ride there cannot ride
Ride on drain cover fine 40k ride on grass 5k ride on foot path 2k ride on road 500 what else?
PMD should be classified under one of motoring transport need licence, insurance, COE, IU, road tax, car plate, registration with log card, periodically inspection etc. Enforce safety gear such as helmet. Remove speed limiter or calibrate to 60km/h etc. And only allow on the road. And needed to pay parking. Allocate parking lot etc.
LOL "foot got problem cannot walk properly .......destroy rice bowl"? Foot got problem still do food delivery? rly?
Because of the foolishness of a small few, this ban affects a majority of the electric PMD owners that are law abiding citizens.
License for food deliverers make more sense than outright ban. You can't just take away people's rice bowl outright.
Bull shit lah very good. Dispose escooter then got $100. Pls lor, escooter is like way more expensive then $100. You sell on Carousell at lease got good money. Dispose with freaking lta got like $100 ? Simi Sai. $100 do what ? Buy a motorcycle ?
Think of others too, if many of them using bicycles, the problem is still there. We are not the people who have a lot of money to buy again & again, be abit fair & square, scooter riders. Ride wisely, because 1 or 2, everybody face the same fate..
I doubt many would continue this job if require to ride bicycle. Not many want to or can. Remember the time when there is no escooter, not many took up this delivery job with their bicycle? I think maybe there will be a special licence given to delivery rider and they need take stringent test get insurance etc so that they have job but at the same time prevent irresponsible riders.
The infra is not ready and unprepared for pmd but the pmd was allowed. Who caused the deaths? Who allowed the escooters? Who has blood on his hands?
If you can say it's only 7000 delivery guys affected, why not you also say only a minority flouted the rules like speeding?
A guy who looked like the guy who aired frustrations about Tpt minister. He jam break bicycle almost hit me couple of days ago and even shouted at me to call the police saying he never hit me so what. This was under 5 foot way. If I have weak heart sure die from shock. These guys turn into overnight gangsters esp targeting weak elderly like myself. In the past I did send photo to delivery company but they said they have many riders so it’s hard to know which rider even though timing and location is provided. So where is the corporate social responsibility?
I am not a rider but I feel sorry for those who need this for their work. I think the introduction of eScooters into Singapore could be better handled. If more thoughts were given to this, perhaps the introduction could have been delayed till infrastructure is ready and people may not have then bought an eScooter. I was curious and looked at the UL2272 compliance, given the limited testing is not a sure-proved way to Ensure an eScooter in used will not catch fire.
Let them ride on roads!
Seen that too a few times
I still see people ridding PMD now... WTF!
Finally!

I'm loving the salt.
Pmd rider affected by black sheep’s : hey it’s not our fault , we try our best to ride safely because it’s our only main source of income and we want to protect our rice bowl .
The rest of Singaporean’s and government : screw you pmd riders , we don’t care , screw your rice bowl !
This is what I learnt from this pmd ban.
Well there are errant and irresponsible riders that endanger pedestrians, therefore this ban was implemented, but I have to admit it was a bit sudden and harsh. Unfortunately you can only speak for yourself in terms of how you ride but you cannot speak for all the PMD riders who ride irresponsibly, the ones that caused the ban in the first place.
I believe ban was implemented due to complaints from citizens as well, as the government would not have taken such an action if there was no reason to do so in the first place. I think they could only either restrict accessibility of buying PMDs or ban them on footpaths, but banning them would require less manpower and work
Tan Jun Siang what happen to all the police who like to go around screening ah peks and people hanging out in groups . We have more than enough manpower if you include aetos and cisco to go out and monitor those errant driver instead of sitting down at the police post . When it’s time for those who like to go out and do checks to step up they went missing . First you have to catch this errant driver and punish them . If it doesn’t work , then you can justify the ban despite it will hurt people’s rice bowl . To catch errant rider and punish them only after an accident happen is not catching . It’s a reaction not an action by the enforcement . Its a lazy decision by the government . The easy way out .
Welcome to 1984
Bicycles are best answer
To b fair escooter put licence plate n go for basic theory n traffic police test or lta test✌

Ban la cb
in my view. Election coming. PAP will comes with win to win situation. Everybody happy n say PAP caring for Sporean. Hahaha Hollywood.
This ban will be effective and beneficial. Not only there will be fewer accidents on pathways but also lesser fires due to PMDs.Therw are other forms of transport like bicycle or other jobs that are easy. The government is just thinking what's best for the whole country. Majority supports this ban and obviously there will be people who will not support. This ban is an eye opener for people because due to PMDs there have been many fatal accidents. Hope this ban would reduce all the accidents.
And most of the affected riders who don't agree are with food delivery services. It's nice to see startups making disruptions and bringing new services into our community. However, safety for everyone is still tantamount and it's nice to see a government that works and creating new regulations to keep up.
the thing is UL2272 e scooters cannot speed because the max speed is already KEPT at 25km/h,most of the accidents are caused by non ul2272...if you want ban you should ban non ul2272 scooters instead..
T&C for e scooter in 🇸🇬. 1. Pass basic theory Highway code 2. Test on pedestrian path driving safety course. 3. E scooter premium insurance mandatory when register an e scooter. 4. Demerit point - max 12 points allow per annual. 5. Fine amount equivalent to motorcycle class. 6. Head gear and all safety gears are compulsory. Once you've achieved this level, pedestrians have confidence that e scooter rider understand how to engag safety in sharing pathways. Dude, there is a price to get a class 2 driving license, therefore, for the sake of others, don't complain, just seek the LTA to help and comply to what is required by law, I believe they can add one division in class 2 catergory, eg: 2e class, not more than.......... It is just a suggestion to PMD riders, if there are reasonable propose terms you may write to LTA. It might be rejected in the beginning, just keep trying harder instead of complaining in the media about losing your income.
Agree. There are many others who are unemployed, having hard times to make ends meet living without pmds. We emphatise and gave suggestions or ideas but these riders complaining as if society owes them big time.
How to work as AMEOs ? How much the pay ? I don’t mine stand around catch pmd !
Perhaps they should control PMDs like cars. Visible plates (so you can take foto), compulsory individual license tied to their NRIC and mandatory lessons and exam. Restrict licenses only to immobile and delivery workers (for everyone else, really no need). Revoke licenses if there is any breach of the law. That way people who need it for work can still work, and will be careful about risking their rice bowl.
Thats a very big escooter..i thought theyre use xiaomi like scooter but not.

@@happybuddhi9290 I agree, its fine if its part time, but if full time job? seriously a waste of talent.
good idea ban pmd
Food delivery companies rely of food delivered as quick as possible, so the riders have need and incentive to ride as fast as possible, which presents a danger to an unsuspecting public. A complete bans seems over the top, so how to reduce the speed and stop riding dangerously? Or is it required to wait for a serious accident to occur before something is done? I hope a safe compromise can be found as the those riders need the money that it brings to them.
Rlly hope the minister who made the ban next time he order food delivery it'll take super long to arrive cuz of the ban like 2 hrs
Aquatic Aries77 won’t la, if his food late, dunno how many chains of pple will get pay cut or fine loh😂
It agree with dayy logg. Before E scooters existed, deliveries were by motorcycles or vans and it worked. So it might make sense to return to those means of transport, so everyone is happy. I witnessed once a e-scooter coming in the direction of the traffic. Think the problem is those on e-scooter feels the scooter is not big, hence they can 'squeeze' between traffic and did not realise that this can be just as dangerous to them as it would to the other road users.
