this is my favorite song from Choral Scholars of University College Dublin, it reminds me of my journey in Ireland back in 2017, I truly Miss my Ireland, I'm from The States, I felt more a part of something bigger than just me In Ireland. I felt a part of something a greater something a true community. I felt I belonged. It was a True Honor to spend time with The Beautiful people of Ireland, and learn about where my families came from (Mom and Dads side) again I truly Miss Ireland, céad míle fáilte
An acquaintance here is a Irish woman, married here to her French husband. Around 60 years old, very gentle, politically on the left. She went to Dublin this year, after 10 years not visiting. Came back super sad : "Ireland isn't Ireland anymore. In Dublin it was even hard to find someone who actually speaks English." Coming from her I was pretty flabbergasted.
I understand and appreciate a featured student singing this and her talents are worth the highlight. That said, including a variety of the talented Choral Scholars has been the thread throughout it's previous productions. A class that size of Irish youth surely is a blessing.
Tears stream down my face as this song reminds me of the long, long journey my grandparents made from Kilmovee, Co Mayo to the United States in 1916 and 1917. How grateful I am and always will be that my heart is from Ireland! Thank you for your beautiful song!☘️

What a beautiful song and so true but not only for Ireland. I would say wherever you from and leaving your country for whatever reason or you have to escape your country, you always take your country with you in your heart if it is tradition, language, rituals, certain smells, teasts, music and and and.....you are this country. Thank you for this song.....I am not living in my country either and I miss my country.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love the Irish music. I got some Irish in me on my mom side. I'm also German English and native American. I'm mixed and helped save 3 million bees and other threatened species and places around the world in 2020. For the people of Ireland and the human and animal species.
I have been in love with Ireland since I was very young, and I found out about my heritage and I was all but cursing my great grandmother’s parents for leaving, but I don’t want to feel that way anymore. I don’t know why you put this up today, but I want to thank you. You've given me a gift, and that's clarity.
Maybe consider learning some Gaeilge/Irish. It's difficult when you have few resources and no community nearby to do so but as a Canadian who has been trying his best to learn a little bit, it's really the best thing I've done in a long time. Duolingo is limited for Gaeilge but it's a good place to start, as well as the English-Irish online dictionary.
When you study the history of the troubles our Ancestors had to endure, their emigrating will be seen as much harder than we can imagine. Many diaspora have never been back to their home. I have had the incredible humbling of returning, 183 years after my Great Great Grandparents left North Tipperary in 1832. When returning to their home, I went to the pub and apologized to the pub owner for our absence. Then, even before I can take my first sip of Guinness, a man standing at the bar stepped directly toward me, in a lunge so his face was uncomfortably close to mine and he said, “Are you a blowoff?” Well, taken aback with his brash question, I quickly responded with, “Sir, you have me at a disadvantage as I have no idea as to what is meant by that term, blowoff.” He backed up to his spot at the bar, only about 6 feet away, and said, “If you don’t have people in the Yard,(local graveyard), out back, then you’re a blowoff.” To which I replied, “Not more than a half hour ago, I was in the company of one of the Ireland XO volunteers, you know Helen F., and she showed me where two of my Great Great uncles have been laid to rest. So, I do have people in up the Yard out back.” When I inquired of him if he has any people out in that yard, he mumbled and gave no clear response. So, maybe he, by his terms, is a blowoff. Two final things…go to Ireland and find the place where your ancestors left. If it strikes you as it did me, I have never felt more, at home, in any other part of the world, not even where I was born…and…look up a song on here called Mise Eire by Sibeil.
