Call this thing Mike Thypoch with the way it punches above its class. 🥊🥊 Really enjoyed it, brother! Looking forward to more of these small town expeditions.
Well looks like many more people agree with you. The new 50mm 1.4 Simera they just put out has the regular Leica focus tab on it no infinity lock. Hopefully they'll do the next run of the 28mm without that dumb thing. Crazy good glass though. Shocking actually.
What’s stopping you from removing the infinity lock? I understand the mounting tab still being there would be annoying but regardless it can be taken off with just one screw.
@@DeeRosa makes perfect sense. In my mind I was also thinking like it was free so if it gets messed up it's not like you broke/messed up the $700 lens your just bought.
@@vincepetitjean oh for sure - usually I have to send gear back like with Fujifilm or Nikon. I don’t have an M body so me keeping it is kinda worthless tbh. So I’ll be gifting this to someone.
@@ulrikchristiansen there are a lot of people who attribute micro contrast and great color fidelity with Leica. They assume it’s the sensor when it’s actually the glass. But there are a few lenses which give you similar or better renderings and I believe this lens is similar to leicas.
@@DeeRosa Indeed the image fidelity is what I now go for in most of the lenses I buy now. I have the Voigtlander 58mm | 1.4 and the 40mm | 2 adapted to my lil' z50. I love the way the lenses render on my lil' camera. Eventually will cop a Zf.
Can you guess which photo was the Leica and which was the Thypoch?
I’m gonna go with A - Thypoch
A is the leica. B is the thypoch.
@@fauzanjamahat1 Wow, Done Well Dee!
Some of the grading on these pictures 🔥
Much appreciated!

I don’t want to risk messing something up is all and also, I’m gonna give it away.
Hallettsville? We passed through there, a while back. I have been wanting to return, for a photo walk. Well-done presentation! Thanks!
@@rexgigout1472 great place to stop!
Love when you vlog. Such an icon 🩵
What is this infinity lock even for? I have this on an old Canon lm lens and don't get the purpose.
Is there anyway to remove the lock? Could you shave down the metal ridge?
Can the infinity lock be removed?
That focus lock is for me also the one reason not to buy this. Hoping for a version two without that.
If they did that I’m instantly purchasing.
I see you found my old Kowa Six!
@@steverileypictures5724 Steve this 80/2.8 may be one of the sharpest lenses I’ve ever used!
There are Simera 35 f1.4 versions for other mounts that don't have the infinity lock. Does anyone know if they are optically still the same lens?
@@sanikki3877 I believe they’re all the same formula.
Hi friend! haha Kidding aside the images are great!
could you file down the arms that grab the pin and lock it in? Would that stop the infinitely lock?
@@vincepetitjean I assume you can but I don’t like doing that when I’m planning on giving it away.

You said it was sharp. Your friend said it's not too sharp. So which is it?
He was discussing his Leica Summilux… as stated in the text on the video.

What is the Leica look?
