    Thank you so much for your channel. I was implanted last year and it has been a miraculously journey, though my implant hearing is not 100% yet. It is frustrating for me to read comments on a CI implant group where people write that they could hear almost perfectly within minutes of activation - like really?!?!!! Anyway thanks for being so helpful and just overall cool☺️

    I was able to understand every word of this video while streaming to my CI processor. So different from catching nothing at all with my natural hearing ability!
    I received mine about 3 and 1/2 months ago. Glad I got it done!

    So happy I found this. I lost all hearing in my right ear 4 years ago and just received my CI in November and was activated in December. The best part (so far) has been the absence of my tinnitus when the sound processor is on. I'm doing my daily listening to the implant and can understand you pretty well without CC but there are days when I feel like I'm plateauing already and maybe regressing. On another note I'm also a photographer and love seeing your intro etc, thanks!

      Thanks Jared! Totally understand and often I don't know how much I improve when I feel like it is in "plateauing" mode. Often the improvements/change show up in my annual hearing test. In the early years, I noticed big improvements because it was new and as years go on, it becomes to feel normal and changes/improvements happen in less of a bang. :) Keep up the great work!

    It's a good reminder to have a balanced view about cochlear implants. They are certainly _very_ useful, but they aren't a cure.

      Do you ever take a wireless mic along with you and ask people to wear it (for example, an instructor if you're taking a course)?

      Hello! When I was younger I had a corded microphone which was very limited and a pain at times. If I had the gadgets we have today, I would totally take it with me to class. For high school and college I ended up doing all my coursework online which gave me the ability to crank up the volume as well as pause and replay courses. :) Great question!

    David thanks a lot for this video. I'm also struggling with this strange phenomenon of hearing loss and still looking for my own description of who am I, the same as looking for my own way of dealing with this burden. Watching your film and understanding your attitude toward hearing loss in very invigorative.
    Greeting from Poland! :)

      It is a challenge but it is also rewarding to reach deeper within to find what makes you, you. Keep trying your best and know you are not the only one who feels this way at times. :)

    Great video David. Your way is thinking is absolutely correct.
    I have a question. With cochlear, how is your experience with using headphones over Skype calls etc. Are the conversations sound clear or noisy?

    • @DavidBCluff
      @DavidBCluff  6 лет назад

      Hi Santos’s! Great question! I use skype all the time for work and I have found that when I have good headphones and wear my t-mic I hear pretty well on those Skype calls. Part of my team is in China so the rough English is harder for me to hear but I have a hearing co-worker that helps fill in the gaps when I can’t hear everything. Does that help answer your question?

      @@DavidBCluff Yes David. Thanks for the answer. I think with time goes on better background noise cancellation softwares will be developed and the cochlear hearing will be as good as normal hearing. In India government giving this device free of cost to needy children. Hope all the future generations across the globe will have access to this wonderful device.

      I agree! It will be interesting to see what advancements are made for better noise cancellations as I struggle in lots of background noise.

    Im a mother of a son who wears CI just like you. But he's speaking is not clear. Which he needs signing. I still dont understand why some ppl with CI can speak properly and clearly, like you, whereas some can't and needs signing...

      Well it depends on how thier cochlear implants work. Not every cochlear implants are able to speak because the person is either scared to speak or there could be other issues like getting cochlear implants at late age. But just have lots of speech therapies that should help!! CHECK COUPLE OF MY VIDEOS! hope that was helpful.
