It's really telling (and depressing) that most of these games listed were at least 5 years old, and some over 10 years old. What's happened to Medieval strategy?
Thank you for mentioning Knights of Honor! I feel like it is such an underrated game, and one of my favourites having tried most of these suggested options. Truly a gem. Good suggestions overall, it's very nice to see these games appreciated.
I suppose it's something called megamod, which includes several dozens of other mods, with new buildings, resourses and different objects (like castles, cannons, etc). Somehow, it works together without any crushes and looks really nice
That game is one of my best memories, also it's like, really old. They're actually making a new one! Check out Knights of Honor II: Sovereign, it's on steam.
I want a game that has the same fighting system as For Honour but it's a MMORPG and you can make your own factions and have kings and stuff..... that would be lit :)
Kingdoms and Castles is actually a pretty solid game for it being early access still and the devs continue to release updates every month or so. Kept me hooked for quite a few hours. It's more of a build and defend type of gameplay, but rewarding when you successfully defend your kingdom and continue growing your mini nation.
The only thing I don't like about your videos is most of the time you don't show actual gameplay, just footage from the trailers. I want to know what the games actually look like
I don't say this to be demeaning or condescending, I say this with an earnest desire to help you. write the title of the game you're interested in into google (or youtube) search field and find out what the game looks like. I'm certain there is more than enough out there to satisfy you, if you take 10 seconds to write the games name into a search field. putting together a video like this takes a long time in the editing room. also I'm sorry I replied on your year old comment, I understand you may already have realized your mistake without my help, and that I could be wasting both of our time with this excessively long message :)
Fell in love with global strategy games with diplomacy and warfare after I bought one of My first strategies "Knights of Honor". Was kind cool for You to put it on this list. :)
such dear memories i have of this game. my grandfather was the one who got me into knights and merchants, sadly he passed away last week. i've still got the game disk he gave to me all those years ago and i will forever treasure it.
People should note that the Banished footage you show is modded Banished and that Banished was basically abandoned by it's original dev. You won't end up with a city like those without mods.
list needs Lords of the Realm 2 on it. RTS army battles with turn based over world, castle building, having to balance your serfs on growing food types and mining and making weapons for your armies (different types needed in each county). so much going on in that game.
How did Lords of the Realm 2 NOT make this list? it is is my opinion the stepping stone to ALL of these other games mentioned. While its 3rd release was an absolute train wreck and disaster which seemed to only be an attempt at some last second income before they went defunct it was by far a leader in the field of medieval gaming. being able to micromanage armies, the ability to position them according to the battlefield layout and not just send a mass of 1 type of soldier to one spot should NEVER have been abandoned by the gaming industry. ive yet to see that option available in any other game of this genre. The economy and building features were incredible in its era.
Honestly Mount and blade Warband is amazing, as well as it offers hundreds of hours of fun. My first play through of it took 157 hours until I took over the entirety of the continent, but every time you play it the game is a bit different depending on your actions so you can play it so many times. I've played it for hundreds of hours and I haven't even got to its two expansions, so I still have many hours to come. It also has a great modding community.
I used to play that wayy back... really good tight knit community back in the day... EE and the expansion were so amazing.. especially if you were in the "cool kids club" and knew all the people from the Ai and the other clans on there lol lots of fun!
Age Of Mythology is a great one, it's basically the same as Age of Empires except utilising mythical creatures however there is a less expansive unit base and is a tad bit simpler, still a very fun medieval base building game that I always find myself going back to
I good list except for the inclusion of The Settlers 7, which is an abomination to the series with it's bugs and always-online drm. You should have chosen an earlier version of The Settlers.
Age of empire doesn let you build a kingdom, it lets you build a small military installation. It's a good game, but you don't build a kingdom if you don't have a territorial map and are able to control multiple cities and armies.

there is a new mount and blade coming out

This video deserves a like for being short and to the point, thank you for not bloating your list.
Knights of Honor, what a game! Combined with Stronghold 2 is the ultimate medieval strategy town building game!
just saying before I watch, if mount and blade isn't on this, someone's gonna die
lol i said this too
but at what point do u "BUILD" anything in m&b?
"technically" you "build" improvements to towns, castles, and villages, but it's of course very lackluster.
I will drink from yar skull ! :D
@King Random: i swear i did not say that
Banished looks different from the main game, is it a modded version you are showing? Or an expansion?
i think it is the medieval towns mod, or something like that.
I suppose it's something called megamod, which includes several dozens of other mods, with new buildings, resourses and different objects (like castles, cannons, etc). Somehow, it works together without any crushes and looks really nice
