I don't condone marriage in this day and age, but if it works then I'm on with it. My great aunt and uncle used to play this song, among others, everywhere they went in the 90's. This was when they used to take all of us kids out to movies and shows at the time. Good times.
My grandmother used to always sing me this song to annoy me, but I secretly loved it. We lost her to cancer in January, and the last few days she was on hospice and she had completely shut down and stopped talking, I would sing her this song, even though I’d never heard the real version. Now I listen to this song all the time. RIP Mimi❤️
My mom was a martinet about continuing to harp on things that I'd already agreed to. Even seeing me follow through on what she'd asked for didn't stop her. I finally stumbled upon the perfect defense. The comedian who did the "My name is Raymond J. Johnson Jr." routine came along right about then, and she HATED him. Whenever she started in on me, I'd pipe up, "Ohhhhhhhh, ya' DOESN'T has'ta call me JOHNSON.........." Game, set and MATCH, Baby! "Or you can call me JAY! Or you can call me Arjay.............."
In Ruby SC, there was a laundry mat that we used to go to do our laundry. Well, it had 7 or 8 washing machines and dryers, a cigarette machine, a snack machine, a drink machine and a juke box. I remember so vividly, my cousin Judy putting dimes in the Juke box and playing this song over and over as we youngsters ate our snacks and drank our cokes as we watched our clothes tumble in that hot laundry mat in little Ruby SC.
I was born in 1956, the youngest of 6 kids. Guess who controlled the kitchen radio? Now you know why the 50 ' s and 60's music is my kinda music! Lol Love this and all the others!
I work at a McDonald’s in Southern California our lobby is playing this music and others like it from this particular era. It’s always nice to hear this song when I’m cleaning the dining area.
I remember loving this song when I was about 4 years old. I would be sitting in the back seat of my Dad’s black Mercury car, and all of the sudden this song would play on the radio. I would sing out loud to my Mom and Dad knowing every word to the song because it was easy for me to learn. They were so proud of me and they would laugh & laugh at me singing this song. Probably because I didn’t even realize what the birds & the bees meant. And of course I was cute singing it too! So here I am 53 years later showing my 37 year old son the very first song I ever learned. I love music so much. And I am blessed with a beautiful son who is willing to sit around and listen to me tell him stories of my childhood. ❤️
Your grandpa was nearly young enough to have been my dad's grandson. My dad, born in 1907 in Denmark, was in his mid-30's during WWII and assisted the Danish Underground defeat the Nazis.
my favourite song, it took so long until I have found this, original version! when I was a child, I heard it once on radio! thanks ! greetings from Germany! I just love it!
I remember asking my dad about the birds and the bees . He would break out singing this song. I was five and had no idea what the birds and bees had in common. It drove me nuts.
This song seemed like it was always playing on the juke box at my dad's bar when I was little. The 60s a different time different laws compared to now for owners to bring kids to work. I didnt stay long; but remembered this song well!
Loved this song as a kid and love it just as much as an adult. I finally got to meet and party with the man at his own residence, a time I will always treasure.
I was 5 when this came out and it was such a big hit. My cousins were visiting and heard it and HAD to have it so we walked over to Meijer and got them one. When you’re five you don’t know anything about the subject matter...you just know it’s a fun little song.
Love you Lee M C. Thanks for teaching me in such a short time what it meant to be loved unconditionally. Hope you’re up there in heaven with you’re beautiful wife throwing back old fashions and dancing hand in hand. Miss and love you always Missy
I was born in 1969 probably about 5 yrs after this song came out but remember my parents singing this song I love this song it was back when music was good, wholesome and you could understand the lyrics!!
This brings back memories to when my grandmother used to drop me off at school on Wednesday mornings. I love this song. P.S., I'm only 20. Not all of us only like death metal or rap ;)
My dad sang this song to me when i was a child and i remembered recently. I played it repeatedly to be nostalgic for no good reason. I'm 21 and i don't like metal too. Although... i have a pretty wide range of genres so...
i remembered the song Breaking Up is Hard to Do, and suddenly i also remembered this so i keep asking google to find this song for me. im glad i remembered this again.
Guitar is through a Leslie rotary speaker cabinet. Normally used on Hammond organs. 3 Dog Night's band used Leslies on Guitar, Hammond and I believe also the Rhodes piano.
Want to hear a funky version of this? Writer Herb Newman had another ERA Records singer, Jerry Ray, do a new version at Goldstar Studios in 1970......also on You Tube.
Shoot never once did my parents ever tell me about the birds and the bees as I was going through puberty.Had to find it out for myself and school mates use to make fun of me just cause I didn't even know what a condom was.And I told them " well it ain't my fault I wasn't informed! "And then they teased me in highschool and asked If I was still a virgin. Like that's any of their business! I was so glad once I graduated, never stayed in touch with anyone!
When I was a kid my parents were cheap!! So cheap in fact they wouldn't order a car with things like air conditioning, or power windows and of course FM stereo radios in them!! SO as a child my parents listened to a lot of old AM stations while driving around in their cars, and the one station would play this song from time to time, and I always loved the tune because of it!! Heck my parents STILL had no cable TV until 2008 to give you an idea of how cheap they really are, and only got cable AFTER the federal government forced the end of "over the air" broadcasting!!! Up until then, they (my parents) had two antennas on their home, one hidden in the attic and the other on a rotatory motor to be able to align to "special channels" on their one set! My parents are weird like that!!! LOL
This was OUR song when we first started dating. My sweet Brown Eyed baby. Still married, 51 yrs later. :)

One of the very first tunes I learned to sing. Haven't thought about or heard this song in over 50 years. Childhood memories are sometimes the best.

This is my favorite song! Not every 20 year old likes metal. 😑
+Abby Roberts I'm actually annoyed to guys who likes metal and playing it out loud for all to hear.
Thank goodness there's hope for the future after all!
I actually like metal AND oldies. Cant stand rap and pop though. Imagine that.
