@@jasonlanier27 I can't wait to hear how close it actually fits. My brain tells me it's like a perfectly fitted t-shirt (tighter in the arms and shoulders, but longer and roomier at the waist), but in reality it could be way off.

I like how in the last chorus you can hear that the vocals are shifted by two beats - in Vignette, they somewhat sneak in that rhythmical shift during the synth solo and you don't really notice unless you count along, but here it becomes really obvious :D
It definitely does, it's just hidden well! Count along when it goes into the synth solo - usually, the strings hit on "1 and 2 and...", but since there are two silent beats added just after the last denial, the whole thing gets shifted to "3 and 4 and". Vice versa, the "Clinging too" would usually begin on a three, but because of the shift it now lands on a one. At least that's if you just stubbornly count two 4 all throughout. In reality, there is just one 2/4 bar included right after the "Denial" and before the solo begins
@@noeloumard9106it’s literally just a bar of 2/4 like you mentioned at the end. nothings shifted. literally no one would count the song like you explained in the first half of your comment
@@BoysWithBlueYes, agreed. I only explained it in that weird way because the first answer to my original comment implied that the shift only happens in the mash-up, not in the original song. If you don't hear it, stubbornly counting a along is the easiest way to notice a change. I am aware that what REALLY happens musically happens is a 2/4 bar inserted (which I already said in the last comment)
Completely 100% disagree. Shy Away is one ot the worst songs on SAI because of how boring the instrumental is. Meanwhile the instrumental on Vignette is one of the best on the entire album.
A lot of the good qualities got striped out of this when ripping the audio from those YT videos (use JDownloader, in the future), sadly, but still an interesting listen! Both songs are in the same tempo, but different key 2B/11B. Fairly well done for a rough cut!
This actually works for any band or artists that sticks to their own sound/genre! There are only so many cool chord arrangements etc and it makes me laugh anytime I see people claiming that "such and such" ripped off "such and such" when actually they ripped off "such and such" before that, like, every song has audio twins and siblings so by that logic every song breaks copywrite rules 😂
I think the switch up at the end where you place the singing of Tyler in the chorus at the first 4 beats (of the 8 beats each time) except for the last 4 beats is probably not intentional but it’s a bit messing with my head and I like that hahah
Does this work the other way around? You should try the Shy Away vocals with the Vignette instrumental. Edit: Oh wait, i just saw that you already did that lol
It bothers me when people say stuff like this.. no vignette is not shy away. You have to pitch shift to be in the correct key first of all and second the chord changes and flows of each song are completely different. You could take any song and with enough manipulation make it work like that. Silly silly stuff.
fighting off the vignette 💃🕺💃🕺

i keep thinking “a moth ate through your favorite shirt” in the middle of the chorus lol
The pantaloon is about his grandfather losing his mind to alzheimer’s, vignette is about addiction

Morph + Redecorate have the same chords during the chorus
he uses that chord progression a lot
@@cadumartins7213 Well he can keep doing it cause it scratches my brain real nice
yeah its one of my fav chord progressions, also morph is in the same key as holding on to you, that's why he always uses that transition in shows
Honestly, you can probably do this with plenty of songs that have the same, or a similar bpm, as long as the song structure more of less lines up
Not at all? Chords progression and key is the key here. Bpm is not a problem.
Pantaloon
And meter matters!
@@brendanjosh1194I mean the shy away instrumental is pitched up quite a bit to match the key of vignette in this case.
It would honestly make thematic sense. SAI was nico turning his work into propaganda, and clancy is the original unfiltered music.

Wow! this works surprisingly well.. actually too well..

ngl bro 80% of their stuff can be flipped around like this. not a stab at them, just something i’ve noticed since like 2015 lol.
it could get tiresome if they did it too much but it'd be cool if they did like 2-3 mashups in their shows, could make for some cool surprises
