I washed my hair over the weekend and, I forgot I had the aloe vera pre poo and used that. I washed my hair and did the shea moisture strengthen and restore treatment, deep condition. I think the pre-poo helped out a lot. That was after 6-7 weeks. I shed a lot too. Thank you for being 💯 with us❤

As I look at you I can see your frustration. Can I add one recommendation.....when detangling with your brush, try to keep the hair fully stretch out from the ends. I see you are holding the hair 5-6 inched up while trying to brush the ends and with the bounce back and shrinkage the hair goes back together. Try holding the ends straight while brushing and making your way up to the root. I wish I was there to help you go through it with love and patience. You got this.

Just so you know, shower filters don't actually remove heavy metals. This is important because heavy metals like calcium and magnesium make water hard and those can only be removed by an ion exchange system. Water filters remove things like chlorine (which is a halogen, not a metal) through a redox process. Chlorine can also be damaging to skin and hair so having a shower filter to remove it can still be beneficial. Love your content!

@@AbbylaParisienneThe shedding isn’t that crazy in my opinion. Some factors that make it look like it’s a lot is the length of her hair. As your hair gets longer the shed hair looks like it’s increased when rolled into a ball. Also people shed between 50-100 hairs everyday. Imagine having your hair in a protective style for 3 months. That’s anywhere between 4,650-9,300 shed hairs accumulated with nowhere to go.

Protein is good to use if you have damaged hair, colored hair, or straightening hair with direct heat. It's really not necessary to use protein regularly if hair is in protective styles and low manipulation(natural hair without added hair). A good detangling spray or cream with slip properties can aid in detangling hair and a wide tooth comb without the seams or a unbrush(the original not the new one) can help, too. Being consistent is also key with keeping up with moisturizing the hair and keeping it lubricated and detangling gently on a regular basis. Hair sheds at least 100 hairs a day so the thicker the hair and the longer the shed hair is kept on the head during protective styling the more hair looks shed.
(Detangling the hair while the water is running over the hair starting from the ends to the roots may help as well).
Doing hair in larger sections is beneficial.

Thank you 🙏🏽 I have high porosity hair so proteins is needed as far as I know. Will definitely review this though. Slip and a better detangling to would be great but the hair was just so very tangled. Detangling under water is one of the worst things I could do for my hair. Weakened hair, weight of water and pressure from detangling tool, it will just rip through the tangles. It’s quick yes but not my best for length retention in my experience. Consistency is what I can’t offer my hair at the moment but hopefully I can find something that works… thanks 🙏🏽

    Hi sis,
Thank you for sharing this video. You are a lot of inspiration to my natural hair journey.
From my perspective, your shed hair is a lot because you have been finger detangling. You know, finger detangling doesn't thoroughly detangle the hair, so doing it continuously results in such struggles.

It's good that you are not tenderheaded. My scalp hurt just watching your detangling session. I'm glad you were able to get through it. You deserve a dang gold medal for making it through that detangling session!💪🏅 I would have simply given up and cut my hair off.✂ This made me even more appreciative of not doing long-term protective styling. I really didn't know it caused so much tangling and matting to make detangling very difficult. Did adding water and more products help? If it did, do you think it would be easier to detangle in the shower? I truly wish that I had some helpful hints. The only thing I can think of is that you need something with more slip than the Briogeo is giving.
EDIT: Have you ever tried that African Pride Pre Poo? A lot of ladies say it is very good at detangling.

    • @CoilyDiaries
      @CoilyDiaries  6 месяцев назад +1

An extremely tender-headed. Had to wait a week post take down for my scalp to calm down then do the wash day. Water and conditioner helped. Doing it in the shower would definitely help but wouldn’t be the gentlest or best length retention process. I have a video about lessons learnt and why this process was harder. It don’t need to be this tedious even with long term styling

9:33 I thought you were taking a break from combs brushes, or am I misremembering?
15:26 That's why I detangle at least once a week generally. The matting starts to get out of control for me otherwise. I don't notice a huge difference in detangling time between shorter and longer hair for me, but I have to keep up on trimming SSKs out of my hair to cut down on detangling time.
I've never personally seen any difference in ease of detangling with looser vs tighter curls, but I do adjust my technique to compensate as needed.

Are protective styles really protective styles? That’s a lot of hair loss. Mind you I do understand that we shed 100 strands of hair per day.

The shedding is not just because of the protective style. I have a video on this topic and another coming tomorrow

Please detangle in the shower with warm water running and your hair stretched. The amount of times you ran that brush through your hair is alarming 😢

It was extremely tangled! Probably should have been finger detangling for some of those brush passes. Shower detangling hasn’t worked for me in the past

I am really trying to understand why you are doing this, to me, it looks like you are making the process harder for yourself? The amount of hair that you lost looks like someone's whole head of hair. I want you to consider are you really retaining a lot more length or are you just breaking the growth off due to the labourious detangling? I wash my hair every week one week loose, one week in plaits. I couldn't keep my hair in for months as my strands are fine and my hair is very curly so it would just form into locs. I want you to have a plesant wash day experience this is just too much. I love when wash day comes around, I just put some music on and enjoy the experience.

You make many great points. I will be addressing a lot of them in up coming videos. Also you would need to watch a few of my recent videos to understand why I needed a thorough detangle today

Washdays can be exhausting especially when you have prep your hair for a long-term protective style🤦‍♀️.

If mam can shorten the time of the protective style 💌 ❣️ 💔🫀 maybe braided for a week I think mam will be back on track without cutting Mam's hair it should be just under two hour's we'll spend on Mam's hair when mam comb Mam's hair just please 🥺 put in an hour of brushing mam will eventually see the difference why go through the process again afterall show them you go forward with the little you have it's going to be the same process again of hair growing again just think another seven years while mam can have fourteen years worth of hair growth protect Mam's hair put in the effort it will become a lot easier the journey will be smoother 🌜🌛

    Amazing video as usual🎉
Had my wash day this weekend and washed it natural hair braids and rebraided, a trick I learnt from you. This has taken me from wash day split in 2 days to ~ 3 hours including rebraiding (I have ~12-15 braids)
Thanks for this trick which has tremendously cut down amount of time to wash
