- In order to defend against a Japanese invasion fleet the US has developed floating fortresses. Can such a behemoth take on an entire Japanese fleet?
The year is 1940. In an attempt to save money on defending America's
far flung colonial possessions in the Pacific, the US Navy has turned
to a brand new sort of vessel: a grand floating fortress. With a
displacement of over 120,000 tons and the thickest armor that can
still float, these slow beasts are intended to replace entire fleets.
Their technology is second to none, and by some standards even
futuristic. You will take control of one of these vessels at the mouth
of Manila Bay as a sizable Japanese fleet approaches- you must design
and claim victory with the mightiest fort to ever float.

I've actually made ships based on each of the Tillman design variants, and oh boy, they are crazy in the 20's 30's in custom battles. Granted you have to go late 30's for the tech/hull size, but dang.

There's a historical context to this the unsinkable concrete battleship in Manila Bay. It's still there so are its turrets it was built out of El Fraile island and was called Ford Drum. Look it up, but one thing it was a fortification

Sir you can, In fact, own a Battleship as an American. Granted, you’d need the sheer WEALTH to just do it, but it is indeed possible. What’s more, with the appropriate paperwork (because in this day and age, I am NOT allowed to have my fun without the Government at least having a little notice of my intentions) I could, In fact activate and have all 18” Guns and lower effective to fire. With a Destructive Devices permit, of course.

What I really want to see is the ability to design _both_ side's ships. I want to know what it's like to be the fleet of mostly conventional ships fighting the absurd super battleship.
No 130,000 tons is the German super battleship
125,000 tons is the Japanese super battleship
109,000 tons is the US super battleship design

The AI really needs some work. Seeing these dds circle around out of range but in secondary range really hurts.
Those big guns are always nice going off, but nothing beats the sound of a barrage of secondary fire power!

You were building in a German hull so you have access only to German super structure.
Yeah, they should fix that. Have all components unlocked for every hull if one clicks "unlock all" whats the point of clicking it if you could achieve the same by just selecting the nation in question. Its tinkering what I think of by pressing "unlock all" not a "display all ship types" when doing so.
Yeah. Unlock All should be that button to turn the game into the true sandbox it is, mixing the most ridiculous equipment in history. A joint effort between all nations to make the ship to end all ships, terrestrial or alien (at least by 40's tech).
They need to include all the versions of the Tillman Class battleships.
Look that mad ship here on RUclips, it's an insane ship.

What I would have done is to do the same setup on the rear as the front, and have 6 triple 18 inch guns, added all or nothing armor on the citadel, and keep the secondaries the Same, minus a few 8 inchers. Then change the name to any of the following: Obliterator, Devastator, Annihilator, Eviscerator, or Decimator.

Start engaging at 30km but deck armor is garbage. Drop extended belt armor and push up that deck so you don’t get rained on

Now that I think about it, the US kinda had a floating fortress planned but never built: the Montana-class Battleships. The were supposed to be 60 000 tons behemoth with twelve 16” guns on four triple mounted turrets. Basically super Iowa-class before the Iowa was even a thing

Hey stealth, you are correct about there being a bug. At 39:20 when you ordered your ship to turn, that's when it started (enemy stopped firing at the same time-ish). Your ship's speed dropped to 3.5kn even though you ordered full speed, and, as you pointed out, your ship still refused to turn and the enemy refused to fire. The bug cleared at around 45:00 when you set the speed to x5.

CA is designation for heavy cruiser. Originally "Cruiser Armored" later changed to heavy cruiser.

I like the Shokaku because for those who don't know, she was originally supposed to be a Yamato class BB but she was converted into an aircraft carrier. The Yamato hull with a flight deck looks cool but weird at the same time

Wow what a monster. Try replacing 8 inch with 6inch and use weight saved to give her more armour. Sure you would lose range and hitting power, but should still be able to deal with destroyers.

How do you always get your main guns so Accurate?
I'm always using the best equipment and reduce speed but accuracy is always dreadful
there are many factors. the command towers you use give innate bonuses to accuracy, same with rangefinder and radar upgrades (note that some rangefinders only give aiming speed while others also give long range accuracy but weigh and cost more) the guns you use also have a baseline accuracy which will be displayed at all ranges when you hover over them, then there's the stability of your ship (fore/aft or port/starboard instability reduces this), and taking damage or flooding also reduces accuracy, and finally it's important to note that not all nations are equal when it comes to their tower accuracy bonuses right now, for example a fully upgraded US battleship with the best towers will have a 5+ advantage in long range accuracy over a japanese battleship which is similarly using the best towers available.
Finally I should also point out that slowing your ships makes them easier to hit by reducing the "fast target" modifier, and the reduction in fast target modifier will be higher than your own accuracy bonus, which will result in more damage to you overall, which will then result in less accuracy for you, so right now the best strategy is to keep your ships at full speed until all enemies are crippled and you can safely slow down without risking too much return fire.
Always sail your ships in straight lines to avoid "own maneuver" debuffs, and only change targets when absolutely necessary, as you build up a target lock bonus with each salvo against the same ship, which is annulled when you switch targets.
I think that's all, but will add if I remember more.
Check your pitch, roll and smoke interference values in the ship builder. Those are the biggest detractors for your accuracy.
Shōkaku was also an Aircraft Carrier (edit imagine if Aircraft Carriers were In ultimate adrimal)

The only thing i would change would be the deck armor. Allowing it to not take as much plunging fire damage to be an impenetrable citadel
Deck armor is really heavy. I couldn't reinforce it without sacrifices elsewhere.

youre floating fortress has lots of ship killer guns, but no anti-air, she's easy pickings for a carrier, if you want her to handle plunging fire more effectively, you have to sacrifice some of those 8 inch guns for more armor
I don't think carriers will be implemented into the game until much later on

im going to design this to fight bow in... fights entire fight broadside or angled away...... i have good side armor but no deck armor... lets stay where all the shells come from the upper angle increasing the chance it hits the deck instead of the side

On the designing side of the game.....This game reminds a lot of a PS 2 game I used to play a lot.. P.T.O 4... That game allowed you to, not only to design ships, but also planes..I think you could had gotten more deck armour by removing one of those main batteries...

Why do you almost never use casemate guns? Those can be very use full if you need more fire power against destroyers when you want all the big guns focused on the BB's

Akagi and Kaga are fine-ish, but Shoukaku and Zuikaku were never BBs. Maybe the game chooses these names because it doesn't have CVs, yet.

But my eyes hurt again because of turrets being placed way too far at the bow or stern... The developer really needs to fix the weight distribution, because in its current state it encourages this odd turret placement.
