I bought a back lite keyboard once. Shorted out in five minutes. Went back to my old Dell keyboard I got in the early 90s and never changed it. A few keys have the texture worn off, but still works great. I like the older keyboard as there is a bit of resistance. I learned to type on an old style typewriter...yes I am old, so I prefer a bit of resistance.
Very comprehensive, Luke! The only thing I noticed you missing was that some keyboards also have wire stabilizers under longer numpad buttons: the 0 key, the + key and the secondary Enter key. Overall very thoroughly researched video on mechs, makes a great reference!
Pretty good over view with decent references. I wish you had actually demonstrated the lubing process instead of just saying "less is more." Based on my limited experience I feel it's important to know where to apply the lube and understanding some basic techniques would be nice. There is honestly enough information to cover that many of these topics could be a follow up video of their own, and would have made for a fun series. Maybe this is something you could do this year since there is so much variety on the market, with many more custom keyboard options.
60% keyboards are not referred to as "Poker". The "Poker X" or its followup "Poker 2" are specific models manufacturerd by Vortex and designed by KBC. There are many other 60% boards like the Pure Pro, GON NerD 60, KBP V60, Leopold FC660M, Ducky Mini and so on.
Imagine some one who would be used to have no shift key on his keyboard and 2 times more keys. They would think your keyboard is silly and is missing a lot of keys ! But you really aren't. Learning layouts seems a bit complexe at first but you gain a lot of confort. Hitting a mod and an homerow key is easier than having to move your hand out of and back to the homerow. (ps i use a 40% keyboard and it's quite powerfull)

The Poker and smaller layouts are pretty much exclusively for collectors and programmers. The layout was I'm almost certain was created for programmers in mind.

I just went from a microsoft 15 euro keyboard to the Corsair STRAFE RGB Mechanical keyboard. It even solved the problem I had with my Siberia v2 headset ( the USB cable is short and the extention was terrible as the connection between the 2 ) thanks to the USB port in the back.So uh, we are getting married in 1 month from now , who wants to come?
(I always thought ABS was the most expensive key-caps.) For gamers, I'd recommend using the PBT (durable) plastic on your WASD and (left-side) shift keys. Why? Good question: I've had a Razer BW keyboard (was free) for 4-5 years, and on the keys I just mentioned the letters have completed faded away, so instead of letters being lit-up by the blue light, there are these HUGE blue blotches of light. It's just gross.

Yeah they don't help the click of the key but help with the bottoming out so can help sound by quite a bit overall. I also have a blackwiddow (among many others) and keycap replacement can help quite a bit too there is a lot of rattle to the ABS keys that make quite a bit of noise
The gold plating is only there to stop oxidation. Connections plated with other non-reactive metals would also perform admirably. Non-plated connections may suffer unstable connections if the connector was to move frequently, although non-plated connectors are very uncommon. The performance of any type of non-reactive metals will be essentially identical, with Gold actually falling by the way-side after multiple insertions due to its soft nature.

They have all the keys that a tenkeyless keyboard has, just on a function layer. 1 - 9 become F1 - F9, WASD become arrow keys and so on.

I have it, wish I would've got the RGB lighting, not sure why I didnt...had it for months, might've even been a year, keycaps havent faded at all, only lost 1 light on my keyboard, on a key I dont even use, then again using it wouldnt fuck with the lights.All the G keys, can they be custom? I can only assign them to things the software allows, wish I could do things like mutemic for teamspeak. Fucking sucks

Yeah they don't help the click of the key but help with the bottoming out so can help sound by quite a bit overall. I also have a blackwiddow (among many others) and keycap replacement can help quite a bit too there is a lot of rattle to the ABS keys that make quite a bit of noise

the gold plating makes the connection much more stable

The gold plating is only there to stop oxidation. Connections plated with other non-reactive metals would also perform admirably. Non-plated connections may suffer unstable connections if the connector was to move frequently, although non-plated connectors are very uncommon. The performance of any type of non-reactive metals will be essentially identical, with Gold actually falling by the way-side after multiple insertions due to its soft nature.
