Thrawn’s one of the few Star Wars villains that you can genuinely respect. Yes, he occasionally does some very evil things. But he never does them purely for evil’s sake. He’s not like Sidious or Vader. He’s not insane, or broken, or sadistic. He just knows that he’s the smartest man in the room, and behaves accordingly.
@@Xehanort10 He joined the Empire to use its resources to keep the Chiss from annihilation. His other purpose was to make sure that Palpatine didn't turn against the Chiss and try to conquer them. 1:24 "They'll be the architects of their own destruction" while showing senator Xiong was brilliant man and just 1 of many aspects to why this was beautifully edited. Amazing work!
What I love about Thrawn, is his voice perfectly matches his demeanor. There's a sense of calmness, understanding, precise and calculated goals. He's not quick to jump to conclusions. He takes his time to study his enemies. A very philosophical approach that he uses for his strategies. His tactics, like his voice, are cold, calculated, and beautifully dangerous. This guy is such an awesome character because of the way he approaches warfare. Seeing a lot of Thrawn episodes in Rebels was such a treat. Seeing him in live-action has been icing on the cake for Star Wars fans. Say what you will about the live-action shows, as a fan, what a time to be alive to see characters such as this being just as awesome live-action as they were in the animated episodes. I'm very curious as to where the story goes in Ahsoka Season 2 with Thrawn basically becoming unleashed.
I'm currently half way through re-reading the OG Thrawn trilogy, and it's surprising how much more villainous Thrawn is during those books. Despite fan complaints, Rebels Thrawn feels much more in-line with Thrawn as he was written in 1991. Clearly the Empire had a negative effect on the him over the years. He was the perfect target for Palpatine to twist--a man willing to do anything for the greater good.
This was clearly made by someone who appreciates Thrawn in all his quiet and efficient glorious efforts.... for the Empire. He would appreciate this, for it would mean someone studied him, respected him, and came to know him... as he did with Hera, Ezra and the rest of the Rebels.
Thrawn is my favourite Star Wars character. His beliefs are unique, and his strategies are incomparable. He is very clever and very posh too. I love the guy! I wonder where he first came from, and what history he has before the Empire.
Honestly, Thrawn is a big part of why I ever had a liking for the Empire, and why I'm such a fan of Star Wars Space Battles. He's someone with such influence that being under his command alone is just a different experience altogether for anyone serving in the Imperial Navy. I also feel like maybe, if I was an Inquisitor or some other Dark Acolyte then I'd be happily serving his command on the ground, furthering his success.
I especially like the extreme close up of Thrawn's eye, and then cutting back to the bridge, where Thrawn is at the center of the iris. Incredible edit!
Breathtaking. You managed to capture Thrawn's character so flawlessly. He is such a fascinating villian. He requires no glory, no praise, only sees a goal, the safety of his galaxy, of the most importance. Would love to one day see you also capture Thrawn as depicted in the novels by Timothy Zahn.
