I think the fact of the matter is that these two are just very similar in general. They really could have have been brothers. Given Varian and Eugene's connection with the moon kingdom and the brotherhood, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume they are secretly distant cousins, even though the show never confirmed or mentioned such a thing canonically.😏

varian is like that one little cousin/brother of rapunzel that tags on in almost every date raps and eugene have and eugene just takes him like a literal brother

Well, we've seen a picture of Varian's mom in the episode Queen for a Day, and Eugene's in Destinies Collide, right? I don't think it would be possible for them to have to same mom, but the two women in my opinion could look alike enough to be sisters. Eugene and Varian could be cousins? :)
