Here some details from novel;
Matsushita is smart enough to notice that Ayanokoji was the mastermind. When he answered the last question on the arithmetic exam, corrected Hirata, and many other events. Most likely if Horikita wasn't in that class, koji would just use Matsushita. One of the details that was skipped in the anime was that Matsushita could answer up to the 7th question in the arithmetic exam (which is much above the average). She does not reveal her talents either.
Ayanokoji does not like to attract Matsushita's attention and says that he uses 80% of his power. Of course thats a lie. She also follows Ayanokoji all day, unlike what is shown in the anime. Even though Koji is aware of this, he meets with the School Director. Even though the principal Tsukishiro notices her, he remains unresponsive. After talking to the Tsukishiro, Ayano pretends to turn from an intersection, and as soon as Matsushita turns from that intersection, he catches her and leans her against the wall and asks "What do you want from me?" and the conversation shown in the anime takes place.
Another quickly skipped scene in the anime; Ichinose feels deeply regretful and depressed after losing to Ryuen in the last special exam. She cried for a long time in the rain and "randomly" meets Ayanokoji. After Ayanokoji takes her to his room, their conversation lasts longer than shown in the anime.

One of the unadapted rules for the Horikita and Ayanokoji face off is that she is allowed to pick the subject of the exam on the day of. For example, she picks English, then it does not allow Ayanokoji to study beforehand.
This makes sense as it would give Suzunne a considerable advantage. Even though I have a feeling Kiyotaka will still come out on top.

A nice touch on the OP showing Suzune with short hair.
The anime never showed it but although Ryuuen behaved like a dictator in his own class, he always had respect for Hiyori, for example when he forced them to show their phones (on the cruise), he never forced Hiyori.
Hashimoto is the real mercenary, although he is one of Sakayanagi's most trusted assets, he also has his own interests at stake. He even has an interest in Kiyotaka, though he is only suspicious.
I am glad to see that they gave some lines to Matsushita, at least in the last episode haha, it's a funny scene because she tries to envelop Kiyotaka in her psychological game to get information out of him, obviously Kiyo doesn't fall for it, but he realizes that she hides abilities just like him
Horikita should be upset with Kiyotaka (Chabashira too lol) for losing vs Sakayanagi, hence the challenge for the second year.
I'm not going to comment anything about the scene with Kei haha it's a very salty topic for me. There is a lot of context missing from previous seasons, it will be better to see what happens in the second year. Thanks for the reaction! a pity that COTE and its first year is over, I just hope that at some point they announce the 4th season.
Ayanokouji to ryuuen:

1:54 slight correction i am pretty sure manabu asks kiyo does he want to leave an impression at the school to which kiyo says only radiant people like you are capable of doing that not me so manabu says if he can't leave a mark on the school he could leave an impression on the students as they will most likely never forget ayanokoji kiyotaka and their memories with him also it is easier i feel because he spends most of the time around other students and given his astounding prowess people usually tend to remember those who have helped them and the ones at the top of the hierarchy no matter if is education in this case or sports etc. so they wont forget their memories with him is what manabu said. Also i remember seeing this somewhere someone asks who is the fastest sprinter of all time usain bolt who is the second best most wouldn't know similarly football messi / ronaldo etc. i am not saying everyone only knows those at the top and no one else but most including me sometimes if something doesn't pique my interest i'll just remember only the very basic stuff so i'll just summarize what i am saying lets say you were to ask someone from Class D totally unrelated to ike / any average person if they remember him in like 5 - 10 yrs time if they know who he was most would say no emphasis on most cuz he doesn't bring anything to the table so people are bound to forget as there are many average people they encounter in their life they can't possibly remember everyone unless its someone like kiyo who you don't have to know him personally but from his neck to neck clash with manabu during the 400m relay and many more to come hopefully if kiyo shows who he actually is it will leave a profound impression on everyone is what i think manabu is trying to say and advising him to do. I was like this too i knew the best cricket player in the school although i had never met him cuz cricket is something i really enjoy playing , also i think what manabu said is so true / profound because granted sure not everyone wants to stand out in their schools but i think the one thing we can agree on is we want to be really good / maybe the best at what we good irrespective of the job so the fame just comes with it the consequence of aiming to be the best attracts attention.

At 3:20 kiyo lies about the reason he called kei to the cafe saying i forgot to check if she was jealous that he spoke to hiyori and calls her by her given name so basically in the ln kiyo did a lot planning and executing before asking kei out to ensure she wouldn't reject him and this jealousy test was one of them at the end he gazes at kei for a second as she is leaving to see if she is flustered / annoyed that he called her out of nowhere to meet him to then make her feel jealous just to send her back lol.
I'm kind of curious if you're going to make other tier list for this season now that it's finished, just like you did last season, even though this season wasn't my favorite, out of all of them it was the one that had the most development moments for different characters and gave screen time to several compared to previous ones. With that in mind I would love to see a new tier list, ranking characters covered in this season, I hope that at least I would like it.

beginning of year 2 is very busy. I would say there is a bunch happening in a fast pace until volume 4. Though its not the norm for year 2. The middle of year two is more like season 3, really slow and paced down. Though we are reaching the end of Year 2 in the Light Novel and it seems to be getting busier again. the beggining is more chaotic cause there is a whole new grade enrolling as the new first years so a ton of new characters to be introduced from the lower grade
I didn't realize the LN hasn't even reached Year 3 yet (which I assume to be the final year). The new character introduction for next season is going to be something I look forward to the most! Seeing who is also from the white room is going to be another exciting aspect!
@@LykesonRose yeah thats the main mystery in the beginning. The readers try to play the game to find the White Room student along with Ayanokouji (almost like what Ryuuen did in season 2 with Ayanokouji). Its fun to speculate. The author did a great job in hiding it and not making it so obvious. Though i fear that in anime format things are not gonna be that simple, since in a book with just words is easy to omit actions by simply not mentioning them
Dont let this man fool you when he says he is using about 70 to 80 percent of his intellect / sports ability because he is lying volume 0 of the ln pretty much confirms that he is using about 15 percent of his prowess i know its hard to quantify stuff like how much is a person trying , using his intellect and stuff but in this volume it confirms that kiyo even when he is barely trying is outdoing everyone in the school sure they might not have peaked at their abilities yet but still the fact that he can use the bare minimum intellect to get past his day to day stuff like exams , inter student related stuff like bringing up hirata ichinose back on their feet , sports etc. without breaking a sweat is impressive to say the least. Also kiyo's abilities have dulled down since his admission into ANHS since he is not undergoing the brutal white room regime everyday so he is nowhere his peak and still outplays everyone even manabu says he would lose to kiyo and he is the ideal student perfect at almost everything he does.
Hashimoto does whatever it takes to graduate from class A. Now he believes that only Arisu and Ryueen can do that, so he has to play for both sides until it becomes clear who will eventually win.
I see. He sees benefits from both sides, yet that means his loyalty shifts to whoever he feels like is the best chance to maintain class A status. I wouldn't be surprised if he made alliances with whoever ends up being class A upon graduation .
@@LykesonRose oh, you can't even imagine the biggest plot twist at the end of the second year. Arisu, Ryuuen and Hashimoto will try to shake up the game and interfere with Kiyotaka's own plans. And you better start shipping Ichinose now))

They adapted everything very quickly, but they adapted everything. There was no cut, but it gave this superficial look. One event connected all the others, when in reality Matsushita had been following Ayanokouji all day. Ayanokouji followed Ichinose and watched her in the rain, she stood there for at least 40 minutes crying. And they finally showed the protagonist's thoughts at the end of the episode. He has a desire to be changed and he says that it is probably impossible for that to happen.
Ryuuen tried to blind the ayamokouji, that attack with his fingers.
Ayanokouji doesn't act out of harm to the characters and he isn't as edgey as the anime shows. The ayanokouji tried to lift hirata. Kiyotaka's thoughts were about this being a bandaid, because if Ichinose was depressed the way she was there would be no game and she would sink to class D.
Obviously there are daily things cut out and ishizaki/ibuki/albert are even friends of ayanokouji

they did not adapt everything. Nagumo and Hirata were completely left out of the 11.5 (best volume) adaptation. Those were important scenes for important characters. The anime also left out the conditions of the Horikita and Ayanokoji challenge. Many events were moved forward due to them focusing an entire episode on Horikita as well. Half of episode 13 happens BEFORE Suzanne's haircut. It is not justifiable to say "they adapted everything"
The biggest takeaway from what I read is how there would be no game if Inchinose class would fall to D. That makes more sense why Kiyotaka tries to encourage her. He finds this situation fun and he prefers to play at a disadvantage.
I wish they would show the friendship aspects more from Ishizaki, ibuki and albert. I had no idea they were actually friends.
