I listened to this song for the first time yesterday, and it really hit me hard because it’s like it was written about my wife and I. She suffered a brain stem stroke on 4/1/18 and fought like hell for 6 months to come back to me. She was paralyzed from the neck down, and couldn’t speak. She could only communicate by rolling her eyes up for “yes”, and down for “no”. She had locked in syndrome, and understood everything going on. I worked with her relentlessly until she could move her hands and feet on command. All of this after the doctors said she would never breathe on her own again and I was gonna have to make a “hard decision about quality of life”, IOW, removing life support. I refused to do that, and fought for her to have every chance and the best of care. A few days after they told me that, she started breathing on her own so they put in a trach, and took her off the ventilator! I stayed by her side ever possible minute I could for the first 3 months, living out of a rucksack and “sleeping” in a recliner next to her bed. I was a combat medic in the Army, so I was able to care for her much better than most people. On 9/5/18, I was at work and got a call from the hospital that she had taken a bad turn and I needed to get there ASAP. I thought it was a false alarm as she had given us before, but she had been in bad shape for about a week after hitting a 106.8 temp in the nursing home, which is why she was back in the hospital. When I got there, I found out that it was no false alarm. About 2 hours later, as the first line of this song goes, I held her hand while stroking her hair and face while telling her how much I loved her, until she slipped away. She was my absolute soulmate and best friend. We met when we were teens, drifted apart because of me joining the Army, and found each other again years later. We were together 17 years and married just short of 16 years. Every line of this song was spot on and I stood in my kitchen yesterday morning on Mother’s Day listening to this and cried as hard as I did when I lost her.
Big Daddy71 Bless you for staying by her side and showing her so much love and patience throughout her ordeal. Life is so fleeting. Got my attention fast! Love Rick's determination

This song has pulled me through some of the most painful moments in my life. Sometimes I play it over and over. Cry miserably and then go on with my day.
I've been a fan of Def Leppard from a young age, but this song is one of their songs which still bring a tear on my adult man eyes. This song is the last one, which we listened with my fiancé, when She was passing away because of Hodgkin's lymphoma and this song was our fave for both of us. This song was playing on background as She took Her last breath and slipped away, holding my hand. We both knew, that it was inevitable, but still... It hurt like hell to let go. Knowing, that we'll never see, hug, kiss or talk in this life again. I still remember, how I sat there beside of Her hospital bed for almost 2 hours, even after She was gone and She was declared clinically dead and nurses had to remove me from the room as they had to take Her into the morgue.

@@lanceowen2662 Lance I listen to Long way home by Def-leppard at least 4 to 5 time a week it Nevers gets old great song great group. I miss this kinda music
It’s a song that should have been a hit. Had a more recognised band at the time or artist been given the song to record, it probably would have. Would have been a monster hit if it was on Hysteria and released in 88.
damn, Love this song. Brings me back about 20 years when I had a hard break up. Wrecked me, i was young and didn't know how to handle it. I'm older now and better (haha) but this song is basically me after that happened and i started coming around. I wouldn't say we're still friends, but we'll text happy birthday, etc. why? I don't know. for the old times I guess. I know these days she's doing well and seems to be happy , so that's really all that matters. We should all be happy, just takes some work getting there.
It’s 2019 and I still truly have a “ Long Long Way To Go” It’s still 1984 and you held my hand for the first time and I knew I was in love with that first touch.
I felt that pain years ago. She was from my youth. We seperated due to both our families moving. Hers to Cali while mine to Mass.(we lost touch) I eventually moved back to NY. Years later while living in NY, I went to a (one of many) Def Leppard concert in Connecticut. After the show, some guys invited me to a party in New Haven. Lo and behold, there she was. To speed things up... we married and had a son. I lost them both in an auto accident. Every day I ache from losing them. Years later I was given another chance at love. As of tomorrow I'll be celebrating 19 years. Def Leppard gave me a great love once and this song brings me back fondly. My new wife understands this. She's told me she thinks of me when this song plays because at any time she will lose me. Everyone needs that one special song. This is it for me.
I lost my mother too cancer two years ago me and my brother cry ever time we hear this song are wife's have too hold us ever time we hear this song we know she is in Heaven we can't wait to see her
Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent, Germany Ps. Und ein großer Fan!
God I love Joe!!!!!!! Loved him at 1st sight and to this day. That voice just does something to me like no other! When all the voices come together the chills, chills, chills.
Excellent song - centered on vocals and groove. Hit style. No guitar solo and Vivian Campbell holding back. Respect. Listen to Stand Up and Shout from Holy Diver and you'll see that Viv can blast on that Black Les Paul Custom.
Long Long Way to Go Def Leppard You held my hand and then you slipped away And I may never see your face again So tell me how to fill the emptiness inside Without love, what is life? And anyone who knew us both can see We always were the better part of me I never wanted to be this free And all this pain, when does it go away? Then every time I turn around And you're nowhere to be found I know I gotta long long way to go Before I can say goodbye to you Oh, I gotta long long way I know Before I can say goodbye To all I ever knew, to you To you From memory there is no hiding place Turn on the TV and I see you there In every crowd there's always someone with your face Everywhere, trying not to care Then every time I turn around And you're nowhere to be found I know I gotta long long way to go Before I can say goodbye to you I gotta long long way I know Before I can say goodbye To all I ever knew To you I wish you everything And all the best that life can bring I only hope you think of me sometimes Oh, and even though I feel the pain I know that I will love again The time will come Oh, and I'll move on I gotta long long way to go Before I can say goodbye to you Oh, I gotta long long way I know Gotta long way to go Before I can say goodbye Before I say goodbye To all I ever knew To all I ever knew I gotta long way to go Before I say Say goodbye, say goodbye But I wish you the best girl Oh and all of the rest to you
This was my go to song back in 2006, I was only 15 and graduating from year 8. I'm 32 now. It just bring great memories of my primary school days and early high school .
When I listening this song again it’s remind me that I can’t forget her because it touch my heart so deeply to forget her even for my kids also I can’t forget them but I hope 1 day we will be together forever and ever till all our last breath but I can’t see her face even she can’t see my face right now but god will guide both of us to see face to face amen

This is a very powerful ballad with depth that reaches in many directions. Another great ballad is "When Love and Hate Collide" from the 1996 Vault album. Joe's vocal strength is really profound in the song plus the lyrics are insanely relatable. Another good one "Where Does Love Go When it Dies?" comes from the Euphoria album ('99 or "00). The lyrics beckon listeners to ponder the questions within it. I have to say my favorite songs will always be Hysteria and Love & Affection (from Hysteria album). L & A challenges Joe's vocal strengths very well, coupled with outstanding rhythm & straight to the point lyrics: Let's fuck & enjoy it without thinking about the relationship. That song makes me want to do that with Joe 😆
Held my daughters hand as she slipped away with ovarian cancer at the age of 32 (28/01/22) I love and miss you so much Amy Marie. Be with you soon sweetheart!! ❤🙏

Nice song. Can't believe they're still going strong, 35 years after Pyromania, the album that introduced me to them, big-time. Couldn't have predicted that, but glad to see it!
Nancy Smith I also have been a huge fan since i first heard Photograph 35 years ago. Seen them live twice. An absolutely great group. And, Long, Long Way To Go is so good. It irritates me that the Fleppard isn’t as big now that they were back in the day. But “Long” haunts me. ...
I would say after adrenalize they really changed, still crankin it though, glad a new gen has "discovered" this awesome band, my 24 year old daughters love them.
From memories there is no hiding place😢 Merry Christmas all still healing ❤

I am brought to tears every time I hear this song! Def Leppard is and always has been one of the greatest bands on the planet!! Love these guys!
Without doubt one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Can listen to it over and over again.
Ur so right great ballad by a true Icon Def-leppard
G'day so!! True .
@@lanceowen2662 Lance I listen to Long way home by Def-leppard at least 4 to 5 time a week it Nevers gets old great song great group. I miss this kinda music
Meant to say Long way to Go
It’s a song that should have been a hit. Had a more recognised band at the time or artist been given the song to record, it probably would have. Would have been a monster hit if it was on Hysteria and released in 88.
Amazing voice he's got !
damn, Love this song.
It’s 2019 and I still truly have a “ Long Long Way To Go”
It’s still 1984 and you held my hand for the first time and I knew I was in love with that first touch.
Such a beautiful song. Deserves much more views ....this is what real music sounds like.
I lost my mother too cancer two years ago me and my brother cry ever time we hear this song are wife's have too hold us ever time we hear this song we know she is in Heaven we can't wait to see her
Great artists, with their music, always have something to say to the hearts of those who loved them and continue to love them.
Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent, Germany Ps. Und ein großer Fan!
God I love Joe!!!!!!! Loved him at 1st sight and to this day. That voice just does something to me like no other! When all the voices come together the chills, chills, chills.
Michelle Griffin You're beautiful
@@liftingdentist OMG THANK YOU! You are quite handsome as well!
Michelle Griffin Thank you... thnX alot😊😊😊😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Loving the highlights in his hair, looks great
@@neonurseplus This mans voice puts chills throughout my body and many times tears in my eyes.
Joe has a great singing voice especially when he does a ballet with Def Leppard. He expresses the lyrics well.
A good song, and heart touching great ballad by def leppard
Beautiful ballad... 🙏
Excellent song - centered on vocals and groove. Hit style. No guitar solo and Vivian Campbell holding back. Respect. Listen to Stand Up and Shout from Holy Diver and you'll see that Viv can blast on that Black Les Paul Custom.
Great band, and the loyalty they have 👍🏻😊
Long Long Way to Go
Def Leppard
You held my hand and then you slipped away
And I may never see your face again
So tell me how to fill the emptiness inside
Without love, what is life?
And anyone who knew us both can see
We always were the better part of me
I never wanted to be this free
And all this pain, when does it go away?
Then every time I turn around
And you're nowhere to be found
I know
I gotta long long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
Oh, I gotta long long way I know
Before I can say goodbye
To all I ever knew, to you
To you
From memory there is no hiding place
Turn on the TV and I see you there
In every crowd there's always someone with your face
Everywhere, trying not to care
Then every time I turn around
And you're nowhere to be found
I know
I gotta long long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
I gotta long long way I know
Before I can say goodbye
To all I ever knew
To you I wish you everything
And all the best that life can bring
I only hope you think of me sometimes
Oh, and even though I feel the pain
I know that I will love again
The time will come
Oh, and I'll move on
I gotta long long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
Oh, I gotta long long way I know
Gotta long way to go
Before I can say goodbye
Before I say goodbye
To all I ever knew
To all I ever knew
I gotta long way to go
Before I say
Say goodbye, say goodbye
But I wish you the best girl
Oh and all of the rest to you
Thank you!!
💖😪

@@christiekraczek6522 its okey,,,, welcome
The "oh" parts really make the song
This was my go to song back in 2006, I was only 15 and graduating from year 8. I'm 32 now. It just bring great memories of my primary school days and early high school .
Hysteria was the first album I ever bought in primary school. I love def Leppard forever! Mad song!
The section from 3:15 to 3:42. The most heartfelt lyrics that hit the soul hard 💓🔥⚡💥 Best part of the entire track IMHO.
no doubt def Leppard you have given me the best music for life... from teenage till now.. the most consistent hits... and amazing music play... love you forever
Thank you Def Leppard for this beautiful song ! / These lyrics are touching and I feel exactly like this...because I love F forever !
❤ ❤ !
I've been listening to Def Leppard ever since I was about 16 or 17 I'm now 61 I'm almost as old as field Def Leppard I've always wanted to go see them in concert but got to so I guess they meant to be huh love you guys
They are so loyal to eachother and thru their music it shows. Epic. These guys are so in sync and it flows so effortlessly. That's rare.
@JosephElliott-fu9ov good music
This band has been around for such a long time.
doing really good, you?@JosephElliott-fu9ov
After longtime i recall my memories back in 2008 and today june 8 time7:25 it has a great time with my wife listening this song.
Just like vow...
What a life lesson. Found it 3 years ago, and I can relate to it now. One of few Def Leppard songs that can make me upset.
Snake Eyes hdjvfjd
Snake Eyes I thought it was a love song. But seeing the video, it told me otherwise.
This song means a lot to me
@@jackieulanet5196 same here. Reminds me of someone I lost a while ago but still remember them and everything we had to this day.
I love this!!! Definitely brings me back to the Def Leppard of the 80's!!
Held my daughters hand as she slipped away with ovarian cancer at the age of 32 (28/01/22)
I love and miss you so much Amy Marie. Be with you soon sweetheart!! ❤🙏
Terrible, Godbless you and your daughter I will say a prayer for you both
@@paulbirkbeck1790 Thank you for your kind sentiments!! 🙏
Oh god I'm sorry for your loss
After 11 years I'm hearing this song again....... 😥 Reminds me of my olden days with my best friend.....
This song really has beautiful lines.
I miss you Def Leopard. Please produce a new album again.
With Love, from NAGALAND.
Nice song. Can't believe they're still going strong, 35 years after Pyromania, the album that introduced me to them, big-time. Couldn't have predicted that, but glad to see it!
Nancy Smith they were one my favourites thru high school. I cried when Steve died in '91. He was my favourite Lep.
My 14 y/o son swears that all albums prior to Hysteria are the band's best work 😆
Nancy Smith I also have been a huge fan since i first heard Photograph 35 years ago. Seen them live twice. An absolutely great group. And, Long, Long Way To Go is so good. It irritates me that the Fleppard isn’t as big now that they were back in the day. But “Long” haunts me. ...
Michelle Griffin, I agree with your son. \m/
I would say after adrenalize they really changed, still crankin it though, glad a new gen has "discovered" this awesome band, my 24 year old daughters love them.
Still my favourite band... seen your concert, with hubby.. what an experience. Will never forget!
perhaps their best ever song..... underrated..and not well known
Agreed just discovered it about a year ago
This band strength point is not at the dominant skill of a band member, but their strength is in harmonizing of all its member
Amazing Band
Joe GI writers touch as always
They always seem to have a song that relates to my life i live in, which is wonderful
Always love this band. This song is beautiful. Great talented and just love them.
