One reason our property taxes are so high is because we the voters opted to have the city buy beachfront property rather than allowing developers to build on it. You can still see the ocean from A1A, not something all island cities can claim they have as much of.
Yeah, Satellite Beach taxes are a little higher than Indian Harbour Beach, Indialantic, & Cocoa Beach...but they arent as high as other cities in the county. Do you think that thee city owning land for parks or green space is a bad thing?
I think it's a great thing. I was one of the voters who chose the option of buying the land on the beach for preservation so many years ago. I now own a couple of rentals, which get no tax breaks, in addition to the homestead and still think the taxes are well worth it..@@EricLarkin
@essentialadvantages6790 Satellite Beach, along with Indian Harbour Beach & Indialantic is short drive from Melbourne. Hopefully you could swing a quick trip to the beach to see the area while in Melbourne.
If you live in the Brevard Cty area, Everything you own basically has to be able to be dipped in the Atlantic Ocean. Otherwise don't expect it to take the climate very long unless you take precautions (sealed climate control, etc). YMMV. I lived there for 15 years.
@@EricLarkin - hopefully I’ll be re-relocating to Satellite Beach within the next 10 months. There is something about that little barrier island; a great place to live and “find” yourself...
You can launch your kayak from the Desoto park, they've had a launch there for awhile. Which is also a great location for manatee viewing during the colder times.
@@KaiserDragonTV I did a search for Brevard County and there are 4 available under 100K (this link will be an active link-if anything changes, it will reflect new listings, under contract, etc) www.ericlarkin.com/condos-under-100k
Great video. There are a couple of really good things about SB that were missed, but I would rather those things not be public knowledge anyway. I lived there in the 80's, and just over a year ago bought a place on the beach there again. SB is an outstanding location, with easy access to Viera, CCB, and Melbourne. Do you have an expanded property tax map of the county? Thought the property tax info you gave was good for those looking at buying in the area.
Thanks for the kind words and for finding the video!! There is not a map showing the different millage rates but there is a chart on the BCPAO's website. This link should take you there. www.bcpao.us/TaxRoll.aspx?t=1.1 (Or you can ask me about a specific property and I can let you know what the current millage rate is)
@@EricLarkin Thanks. I had found the bcpao millage chart. Was just thinking a property tax map would be a handy tool. There are low property tax rates to be had in the country in prime locations if one spends the time looking. I got lucky and hit on one right on the beach. Feel very fortunate. You make great videos, hope people appreciate it.
Thank you Don! A map would be a nice feature, I wonder why BCPAO hasn't done that yet. Having a knowledgeable real estate agent on speed dial is the next best thing 😎😎 The lowest millage rates would be property outside city limits under Brevard County jurisdiction. Beach side, that would be either north Cocoa Beach (north of the Pier) or the south end of CB. The north end of Satellite Beach (north of High tower beach). The north end of Indialantic too.
Thanks for the message! If you want a 55+ community, there is condo complex in Indian Harbour Beach that is 55+ (can't remember the name this second, just know the street is School-located near Lowes) The other is in Indialantic & they are half duplexes of Grosse Pointe Ave. Viera has 4 (soon to be 5) 55+ communities if you would consider the mainland.

Well, the free beach parking aspect is over, sad to say. That is effective this year.
Correct! I need to find out the specific changes for an update...

👍👍 Excellent
Trying to decide between Satellite Beach or Jensen Beach. Looking for an oceanfront condo.
Two great beach towns!! Have you visited either place yet?
@@EricLarkin Not yet. Going to Melborne next week but not sure I have time to visit. Currently live in Arizona,

I grew up in Satellite and my dad still lives there since 1985. I would love if my wife and I could live there one day. Great video.
TY very much for the kind words & for finding the video! My family moved to CB in 82😎😎
@Eric Larken.
What about Gators, jellyfish and mosquitoes??
The "trio" are a part of living in Florida!! Mosquitoes being the most common

Being surrounded by salt water does take it toll on things. Probably in line with any other coastal town in the US. #PriceOfParadise
I Prefer Hallandale beach Florida more it’s just a beautiful city and is growing in businesses and communities.
I do like the color of the ocean & intracoastal in south Florida
It’s a great place to live; I used to live at Shore-view Apartments near South Patrick Shores. I loved it; I want to move back in a year.
Thank you for finding the video & for the comment! It's hard to leave the beach and not want to come back 😎😎

Thank you for the heads up on this!!! I will have to check that out 🙂
Bummer would have liked to be able to afford to live there
There could be options for you in Brevard County. What are you looking for?
I was curious about the condos for under 100k.
We will need a time machine to go back to June 2021 or earlier for a condo under $100k in Satellite Beach...
@@EricLarkin not just satalite beach is that even a option within florida somewhere lol

It does cost more to live on the beach (but you're on the beach!!)
